An excellent tourism promotional video..Thanks Sheneller. Hope these videos will clear up all the doubts & fears that are still etched on foreign people's mind. This negative perception regarding Sri Lanka is mainly due to the unfortunate violent incidents that took place over the past few months. Some foreign media has blown up the country's situation out of all proportion, and that's why foreigners are a bit unwilling to visit the island nation.. We understand this well when watching some travel videos made by foreigners on UA-cam.. So, the local media has a big role to play in reviving the country's tourism..
I think you have to give tourists/foreigners a little more credit. They are not so gullible to believe everything they see on the media. Moreover, I'm not sure the foreign media blew the countries situation out of proportion - they were just reporting on current events. See how they are reporting on the violent protests in France? It's on every media outlet. There has been a wave of unruly protests over the last few years in France, quite similar to what happened in Sri Lanka last year (but for different reasons) - but do you see it having an impact on tourism in France? No - and yet they remain the number one most visited country in the world (in terms of tourist numbers) year in year out. The real reason why tourists may have had apprehensions about visiting Sri Lanka last year, was the fact that Sri Lanka went bankrupt which resulted with the power cuts, shortage of certain medicines, and issues with the fuel and certain grocery items. So if anything - those were the reasons which may have put off the tourists. But in 2023, there is no issue with fuel and electricity cuts. Certain corrupt politicians and their followers have blamed the demonstrations last year as the main reason for the tourists not coming to the country. They did that to deflect from the real reason, which was their mismanagement of the economy of Sri Lanka, which made it go bankrupt - and thereby rendering the country not being in a position to buy basic essentials such as fuel, medicines , and certain food items etc. No tourist wants to pay several hundreds of Euro/Dollars to go to a country that is unable to provide basic essentials. But luckily the situation has changed in Sri Lanka. So lets change the narrative, and stop asking the question whether Sri Lanka is safe. It is totally safe - I was there in December for 3 weeks and had an amazing time! 🙂
I hope that tourists from all over the world will realise what a gem Sri Lanka is in cultural and culinary cuisines and breathtaking beauty from the beaches to the mountains and lagoons and lakes to the magnificent wildlife that is so unique to this country and its friendly and gentle village folk that it is a must see tourist destination on your bucket list before you regret missing this once in your lifetime destination Love my motherland even from Australia.
We visited Sri Lanka in May 2022 and reached Colombo from Lahore by Sri Lankan Airlines.no doubt very cooperative, peaceful and loving Sri Lankans are. We can never forget that enjoy able trip . Salute to Sri Lankans.

Sri Lankan Airlines needs to fly long haul flights or routes using the A350 aircraft. Such as Colombo-Los Angeles, Colombo-Dallas, Colombo-Chicago, Colombo-New York (JFK) (EWR), Colombo-Atlanta. Nice video.
Do you really think they can fill their planes to those destinations? They are barely even able to fill the planes fully to Paris and Frankfurt during the off season. Most of the people in Northern America also prefer to fly with one stop - and with competitive fares with the Middle Easter Carriers, Sri Lankan would not be be able to sustain those flights.

How do you know most of the people in North America prefer to fly with one stop? How do you know Sri Lankan Airlines would not be able to sustain the fares of the Middle Eastern carriers? For Middle Eastern you spelled Eastern wrong.
It was a typo - no need to point it out, this is not an English written exam. Secondly please read my comment again - I said that the Middle Eastern carriers offer very competitive fares. If Sri Lankan airlines would say fly from those destinations in north America, they would have to compete with them by offering competitive fares to remain profitable ( to attract the customers). My opinion is that they would not be able to sustain such cheap fares on such routes and remain profitable. Fuel today is still expensive, inflation is high - heck Sri Lankan airlines didn't even have enough fuel last year to fly direct flights to MEL/SYD (which had very good passenger loads). They had to refuel in India. Thirdly - you should know that Sri Lankan airlines is part of the One world alliance, and is obviously relying a lot on the feeder flights coming from various destinations to the hubs which they fly to with their own metal (i.e. LHR, FRA, CDG, MEL, SYD, BKK, etc). It's a question of economics obviously - you think management at Sri Lankan airlines didn't consider route expansion? Let me turn the question around and ask you - have you flown to FRA/CDG on Sri Lankan frequently? If so - you would have your answer.
