It's disgusting how these people have zero empathy for anyone else but themselves. (If you've seen any videos on programmers pranking scammers, you'll see how vicious they can get even when they think they're talking to innocent old people!) I'm so sorry all of this happened to you. I'm glad you were able to recover most things. What a string of horrible luck. I hope the rest of this year goes better for you!

Horrifying, absolutely horrifying. I truly wish you the best. For this to fall now when your mom is battling cancer, is such terrible timing. Lindie, I'm so sorry that this is happening. I'm only a few minutes in and I'm aghast at the hostile, malicious aspects of your story. Take good care of yourself.

I'm so sorry you had to learn in one of the hardest ways the value of a password manager. Saving tons of personal info to one account that's typically always logged in seems convenient but the power it can give malicious people is so scary. I hope your luck can turn around through the end of this year. Thank you for all the great stuff you put into the world, it's so often the kindest people that have terrible things happen to them.

It’s incredibly sobering to come to the realization that no one’s coming to save you when things like this happen. You’re strong and bounced back to think on what to do and be your own advocate for your own victimhood. The pizza delivery cover was clever. I’m so sorry these wastes and stains on the gene pool did this to you, of all people, who is so kind and graces the people around you with value to their lives. You work too hard for this BS. Sorry this is another stress stacked on top of your family life when all you should have to worry about is spending time with your loved ones.
It was also sliver lined with all of the support and love this community has shown you. I hope your Singapore bank gets it together and you can finally move on 🙏🏼
I'm so sorry that this happened to you, Lindie. Making money is hard and no one should mess with another person's income, since it's not only a terrible act but it can also endanger that person's life. All of this, adding to all the struggles you're facing... i just can't imagine how tough it must've been (and still being). So i hope everything gets fully solved, i hope that you get your money back and i hope you never have to go through something similar again. Sending you strength, luck and the best of energies ♡

Also guys, to add to the password manager tip, if you ever lose your phone, get on a computer and do a remote wipe ASAP! This should work for both iOS and Android devices. Stay safe everyone 🙏

Yikes, so sorry this happened. And thanks for sharing this, hopefully it'll help some people avoid this situation. I usually try to protect my accounts, but I just added researching a bit more about this to my to do list to maybe improve it more.
this is honestly a nightmare, I'm so deeply sorry for it all! I know this one message won't help much, but I've watched the whole video with an aching heart :( I hope the bank will come back to you and hopefully you can get the money back somehow...

I’m so glad you shared this story with us tho it is really awful and frustrating.. I’ve gotten a fraud before with huge amount of money that could be stolen from my bank acc and that time I was already mentally and physically down even before it happened and on top of school starting too.. This is absolutely awful!!! I am so sorry that happened to you. You definitely did not deserve it. It is horrible when bad things happen to good people.
if this happens to somebody as bright and sharp as you, and makes such a horrible painful and stressful mess, and dread to imagine what will happen to me if this ever happens to me...Bless ypu.
It is always good to in your mind go through the process, what could an attacker do if they got access to your phone or your computer. Pretend that you are an attacker, what would you try to do. In Lindie's case, using "0000" as the phone password was probably the weakest link.
Encrypting a computer hard drive (for example with BitLocker or VeraCrypt) is also a good idea, because then the attacker will not get access to your files even if they rip out the hard drive and put it into another computer (thus bypassing your login password, which also should be strong so that no one else can login to your computer normally).
Im so sorry what happened to you. I really hope your mom is getting better and your situation will be completely fine again very soon.

I thought the find iPhone app had an option to lock / brick the phone? That’s totally nuts. I hope you never have to deal with this again. I had my computer and Walter stolen but all they got out of my bank account was some gas money before I got it blocked. It was a terrible experience but not as bad as yours.
@@Jess-737 yeah she mentioned watching her phone drive away on the find my phone app. After I posted this I double checked. There’s options to lock your phone and erase it. I will not hesitate to erase my phone after hearing about this experience 😂.

I really hope you bounce back soon. Besides a password manager, I don't know about iPhones, however, with Android phones, you can enable 'App Lock' so that it requires a fingerprint ID each time you open sensitive or any apps.

I was keeping up with the situation on Instagram and it was honestly nerve wracking enough for everyone on the OUTSIDE I cant imagine how scary it was for you, but thank God He answered everyone's prayers and continues to take care of you 🙏💕
Im my country, sometime you can sue the company for lost income... so I don't use payoal, but you should talk to a lawyer... maybe you should come back to police with a lawyer.... and from the police perspective, ot is a difficult crime to track and "less harm" (😡) than other crimes...

Scary you know what I would recommend a jacket with an interior pocket preferably I mean it's not something I would usually do but just an idea keep inside the interior they can't pickpocket you. Also I notice with girls idk why they do this But please don't put your phone in your back pocket. Also when you're out and about and have your phone in your hand be aware of your surroundings.
I think the problem with the police in these situations is they just don’t know how to investigate it. Hopefully that changes and they get the tech they need to follow up.
All that because of a single pickpocketer??

I have a password book that I keep my passwords in.
That sucks what happened , but that’s not really identity theft - use an offline password manager not internet/cloud based -- never use a 4 digit pin or swipe pattern, use alphanumeric passcode for phone
Identify-theft should be punishable by death. I am an American. I mean that.

For those saying there's no sound, maybe refresh the page, or if you're on the app, reload it or clear the cache from the app settings on your phone. Or maybe play around with your sound settings in the video or on your device. I'm using desktop and the audio is working like it should.

I work in customer service at a bank. If you think that the people who did this to Lindie are bad, imagine people doing something similar to little old ladies in their 90s. These people have no conscience whatsoever.
my grandma's phone company tricked her into accepting a new plan that costed 3x more than what she signed up for, and she couldn't understand what she did or why the bill was so high. when my mom went there, she found out about the tricking and threatened to sue them if they didn't cancel the plan. it was very messy...
I also work at a bank and it’s so sad to have our elderly clients targeted. Gift card scams have been the most recent. 🤬
I'm tremendously sorry to hear this. I absolutely don't have any words to describe this situation other than unbelievably terrifying. I want you to know, that we'll be supporting you no matter what. And those freaks will get the punishment that they don't even expect.

There is no reason why they would go so personal with this, their whole attitude including email deletions, fan replies and other stuff, other than pure jealously. 100℅ they saw your life when they checked your stuff and felt very jealous of it. Just evil malicious people. But don't mind these things Lindie. What really matters in life, those greasy souls don't have.

I am so sorry you had to go thru all of this. I was also once a victim of identity theft, not online tho. Some a-hole from my SCHOOL stole my personal identification number (in Finland you need this almost everywhere), and ordered laptops, phones etc. using my name. I contacted the police as soon as I noticed this, and they said I don't need to pay the bills. After they investigated this, turned out that the dude from my school was part of some bigger petty crime group. I don't know if he got prison time or just a fee, but thanks to this I had to set a voluntary credit ban for 3 years :---) So that meant I couldn't order online, make electricity contracts online or do anything that requires a personal identification number. I always had to physically go to their office and prove it is me and not someone else.
I'm so sorry that you've been through so much. Honestly, if I had the spare money to donate something then I would. I really hope things get better for you soon.

What happened to you it's absolutely horrible!!!!! That's not what should happen in 21 century! How cruel it is ....I can't stand this world and people around any more, and very often I think....well, look outside, there are people hanging out there, having fun and enjoy and you only sit with your PC and books and stuff, smth wrong with you, that sort of stuff is in my mind, however, yup, I'm fine!!!! I see I'm fine that I feel safe and comfortable being barricaded at home! You're so sweet heart, dear, I wish you can handle this situation mentally and physically!!!! 💓

I am so sorry you had to go through this! I had gotten mugged a few months back and it was horrible. I think it's more upsetting when you're trying to call different companies to get them to block things. Even worse when you need the police to help but they're not helping. I was a mess for months from the psychological and financial trauma. It was also my last year for my Masters and I was having a procedure done. I was a mess and I can't image what you're going through. It's been 8 months since than and I have taken a bunch of security measures for definitely traumatized for life. I hope you overcome this!
