thanks for sharing again Piggy.I would love to hear more from the Hawkers how they live, do they ever had a break or holliday, are there things they wished they did differently etc. They work sooo hard'
Yeah.. our Singapore's unsung heroes.. no leave.. work work work for decades.. and almost all just retire with ailments. Such is a life they wouldn't want to see their kids end up
Ailments yes...money yes but no life. My parents have a friend who sells fish soup. He owns 2 condos and a HDB flat but not in good health due to long hours of standing and downing beer non stop because the cooking area was too hot....it's not easy money.
Omg you are in my hood😂sadly some older good stalls have closed already You didn't comment on the chicken rice chilli? So gooood! I always eat 3 plates of it when i have my chicken rice and char siew😂the old stalls like kway chap at first row, chicken rice I eat since i was a kid, traditional chinese dessert stall. And we love the old familiar feeling and the friendly chats like old friends when we drop by😊
Thanks for the tour. A hawker center I rarely visit even though it isn't too far. Tried the kway chup a couple of times, didn't really take to it. Should probably drop in again and have another look see.
Fishball noodle runs out by 2pm...simple and tastes good. The Char Kway Teow biz is good too. The carrot cake aunty also closes by 1pm. and Finally the old school western food nearby is not bad. Piggypuggy, the bao shop sells good FanChoy and Siew Mai, my childhood fav and I found their factory here last year. A must for me to tabao home
The Baos looks really good.. like handmade Baos using yeast to Huat.. wasted I didn't take aunties offer for a bowl of noodles 😅 they had a 45min wait but always would offer the piggy special privilege. Backstage pass 😂
The Chicken rice store, the boss is call Steven. I have been eating with them since 1986 when I'm staying in Bedok Reservoir. Their Chichen rice is much better then alot of Big Name shop.
I absolutely love all these truly Singaporean stalls without other branches & love all neighbors.... I don't understand the reason u ask for their family names....
Old independent hawker stalls.. 🥰 Oh.. I wanted the public to remember that hawker.. coz I felt terribly sad that most of my childhood hawkers that disappeared.. I didn’t even get their name to address them by 😢.. Just hello Uncle.. Auntie for decades

Hello eggie 😄
I thought it didn't look world class.. bit too clinical for my visual senses.. but I could be very wrong 🤭

那档粿汁是古早味的!一流!香記鸡飯口啤最好!
😋💪
Most of these hawkers already expressed that they can't find successors if they retire. So sad that such heritage will soon be coming to the end
Really sad... Coz Singapore's young are already seeking greener pastures.. yet the government isn't inviting hawkers from Malaysia to fill the vacancy
Awesome

My favourite stall there is the roti prata. Open at abt 7.15 am till abt 1pm. Pls note it's CLOSED ON FRIDAY
what happens to that piece of fallen black carrot cake in the end?
Omg 😮 you noticed
👍👍👍👍👍👍
Thank you Chandra 🥰
Gotta station there for 1 to 2 weeks x 3 meals daily...😂😂😂 delicious food sans pretence.
The same applies to me whenever I'm in Penang for food.. except it's 10 meals a day. 😂
