  • Even though some local stuff is still mixed in, I've made it a point this year to drive 1, 2, even 3 hours more often. Set out early in the AM to the mountaiins, in search of some flatheaded spillway dongs wanting to munch a square bill. Usually when I do this I'm casting all day for a bite, but to my surprise I was getting bit every few cats. PAAA POWWW!!!

    I'm currently going through some stuff family wise. My ex died and now I'm looking into getting my son back after 8 years of not getting to see him. Dealing with alot of overwhelming legal stuff. I gotta thank you Josh. Your videos have literally been my go to when I need to relax and get my mind off the current situation. I very much appreciate you and what you provide us stachfans. You remind me that family is first priority and fishing is second. And sometimes they go together, those are the best times usually. Thank you brother, for so much!

    I like that spot you were angling in: it's full of surprises, one right after another. The square-bill shots were amazing--how did they get off, hah. The lures in the rapids and the fish hammerin' there is very intriguing. Still, that grass carp was amazing, too. I think that other one was a buffalo.

    There’s a great older video on the channel “Richard Gene the Fishing Machine” where he fishes for Gar with a piece for frayed up rope, no hooks, nothing. It easily tangelos up in their teeth and the harder they fight the better they are “hooked”. He caught a lot of them and they were all very well tangled. It was very fun & educational to watch. He is a hilarious and unique fella as well.

I might razz you about shooting fish in a barrel but they are fish I never seen before and in a barrel that I don't recognize. Love the show Stashman! Keep slinging 'em just like you do! Yeet Yeet!

  • @luciun262
    @luciun262 Рік тому

    Sometimes it helps to twitch that squarebill like you would a jerkbait, just an occasional little pop to change that swim pattern and when you're fishing for bluegill try almost like suspended jigging sometimes they like to hit it while the bait is still rather than when its moving even though the movement will help attract them to the bait

  • @Mizman76
    @Mizman76 Рік тому +5

    You need to use a crankbait specific rod soon. You need the give of a slower action rod to help stay pinned. Also you could use mono with maybe a fluoro leader so you get a bit of stretch which also helps in the "give" department. If that line ur using is fluoro and the rod is a fast action you're losing fish because of it.

    • @chadwoodward2402
      @chadwoodward2402 Рік тому +1

      Exactly what I was thinking. Cranking on a graphite rod is a no no.

    • @tommiegage3243
      @tommiegage3243 Рік тому +3

      Great advice. ( Especially for the not so knowledgeable like myself). A crankbait rod such as what? What's your "go-to"?

    • @PigPatrolTV

      I went back with a different rod, and crushed them. Stay tuned. 😬

    • @Mizman76
      @Mizman76 Рік тому +3

      @@tommiegage3243 you have lots of options and all price ranges. The key is a slower action. Not the power of a rod but the action. Such as a medium or medium/heavy is the power. Most normal rods are fast action. Some(like drop shot rods) are extra-fast action. You may see those words on the rod or f,xf as abbreviations. You want a mod. or moderate action for cranking. What this means is as follows. An Xtra fast action like drop shot rods bends mostly towards the tip of a rod. Maybe from the butt to about 3/4s of the rod is stiffer and barely bends. A moderate action rod(like a crankbait rod) bends much earlier towards the middle,maybe even more towards the reel and continues pretty evenly towards the tip. This is a "slower" or "softer" action you want for cranking it gives a bit and doesn't pull hooks as easily. It's basically a shock absorber for the hit, Hookset and fight. Look the rods up you like and chances are they'll have the slower or moderate action as an option. Good luck.
