- Even though some local stuff is still mixed in, I've made it a point this year to drive 1, 2, even 3 hours more often. Set out early in the AM to the mountaiins, in search of some flatheaded spillway dongs wanting to munch a square bill. Usually when I do this I'm casting all day for a bite, but to my surprise I was getting bit every few cats. PAAA POWWW!!!

I'm currently going through some stuff family wise. My ex died and now I'm looking into getting my son back after 8 years of not getting to see him. Dealing with alot of overwhelming legal stuff. I gotta thank you Josh. Your videos have literally been my go to when I need to relax and get my mind off the current situation. I very much appreciate you and what you provide us stachfans. You remind me that family is first priority and fishing is second. And sometimes they go together, those are the best times usually. Thank you brother, for so much!
Hang in there buddy
Just gotta learn new stuff, Man. Sorry his mom died.
You maybe a stranger to me, but I'll keep you in my thoughts and send you good vibes. Hang in there
Keep at it my friend. Things that are worth it never come easy.
Keep your head up. Things will get better for you. Best wishes to you. Good luck with what your going thru.
Sure were a lot of mountain ducks chiming in 🦆
Yes, that was a Smallmouth Buffalo.
😂😂😂😂😂
That's stache duck to you sir 😂
I love your content and have been watching you for years. but you not having a net drives me nuts. Also get one of those folding fish nets so you can connect the net and fish onto the scale and weigh any size fish no problem.
Are you using worms , josh ?
The fish at 18:15 is a Quillback I believe.
I find it interesting that you took a dump on the side of your truck rather than just taking a dump next to your truck 😮😂
Yes...another one..love when you post every other day..👊..paa pow..
River fishing is always the best. Never know what you are going to catch. Hopefully for me it will be catfish this weekend. I'm ready to fire up the smoker
The fall and exclamation of “almost sank to the bottom of the earth” was hilarious lmao
"Took A Dump On The Side Of My Truck." 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Yeah I Can Tell By Your Fingers😮😮😂😂 Good Stuff Man!!! Been A Subscriber For Years!!
Great, another carp video. I’m over it. Good luck.
You're ALWAYS the best Stache man! Every trip is always a cause to help us learn more. Either we are doing something right or wrong. We've got to figure out what that is right or wrong. You always do a great job! Don't let ANYONE get ya down! STACHE to the sky! Stache and Ash fam always!
Patients and determination pays off young man ! Your videos are always entertaining to watch! Thanks for sharing your adventures with us!
Always fished like you kitties and carp what ever bites honestly. Gr8 video
I like that spot you were angling in: it's full of surprises, one right after another. The square-bill shots were amazing--how did they get off, hah. The lures in the rapids and the fish hammerin' there is very intriguing. Still, that grass carp was amazing, too. I think that other one was a buffalo.
Love Academy Sports! And it's nice to see there are decent affordable alternatives to the big names! Thanks Logan!
Next to the truck dump...classic. Looks like a great spot to fish. Pure entertainment, thanks man
You da man Josh. Commenting from my igloo in Central Alberta.😅
Good to see you Josh!
There’s a great older video on the channel “Richard Gene the Fishing Machine” where he fishes for Gar with a piece for frayed up rope, no hooks, nothing. It easily tangelos up in their teeth and the harder they fight the better they are “hooked”. He caught a lot of them and they were all very well tangled. It was very fun & educational to watch. He is a hilarious and unique fella as well.
I love your channel. Reminds me of how I got started fishing but a adult version. Thanks for the content.
It's always fun/funny watching you struggle
Good video .maybe a better hook set ? Lol! Love you're content keep up the great work!!!
Your choice of words cracks me up! "It ain't big but it also ain't shitty" 😂😂
Damn brother, you lost more fish in this video than I have in 20 years. Lol!!!
We all have those days ,I had one of those days last week fishing for bluegills. Looks like mountains to me.
Im in central nebraska and had a hard time catching them. They were holding close to their nests.
I been driving 2- 3hrs every weekend to southern colorado not knowing if it's gonna be good..but even the worst day of fishing is better then the best day at work..thanks again for letting me fish with you..throughly appreciated..
Has for you it's one in the same
Too many nice fish in colorado. You want some advice lmk.
Those long nose were your problem, because they are so hard to hook.
They bite, you swipe, and they let go.
Period.
It happens..... and stuff.
My largest long nose gar was about 5 feet long, on a jig pole on six lb line. Hooked him on the very tip of the top lip so his teeth couldn’t get the line. They’re a very beautiful fish in clear water.
Sad to see some of that but looks like you were getting more action than planned at least!
Damn, Gina!! You’re killin me Smalls. 🤦🏻♀️
Love you dad. You have made me want to start a youtube channel.
Maybe sharpen the hooks on that square bill crankbait?
Have to tweak them trebles a bit on those 6th sense lures or you will miss lots of fish.
I was SCREAMING this at him, CHECK Your FRIGEN HOOKS! But did he listen?? NO!😂
@@williambenner701right there with ya bro!
You missed more fish than I caught today… that’s a good day
All I need to say about this video is congrats on ur six hundred and 69th pa pow💥
Good example of hooks don't always come sharp and keeping a file helps... also great video man appreciate the hard work put into your videos.
Nah man, all the rods fault. Well my fault for not using a different one.
I went back and crushed em.
Invest in a net. 😂😂 good stuff.
Some of the hooks on the 6 sense stuff i take off and put smaller size on theres no need for hooks as big as some lures have especially when ur trying to troll or fish around trees and vegetation
Yea that could be part of it. I went back with a different rod. Went 2/2 on flats. Stay tuned. 😉
Grass carp (and common carp), to my knowledge, DO have teeth in the back of their throat to help them crush molluscs and such.
I’m dying😂 took a dump on the side of my truck lol
Took a dump on the side of my truck 😂😂😂
It might be boring for you because it's the same ole same thing but from my perspective of never been past Baker City Oregon means that this Midwest action is Hot. I mean entertainment at its best! Never seen a Long Nose Gar. So that was epic. I might razz you about shooting fish in a barrel but they are fish I never seen before and in a barrel that I don't recognize. Love the show Stashman! Keep slinging 'em just like you do! Yeet Yeet!
Looks like a quillback
Sometimes it helps to twitch that squarebill like you would a jerkbait, just an occasional little pop to change that swim pattern and when you're fishing for bluegill try almost like suspended jigging sometimes they like to hit it while the bait is still rather than when its moving even though the movement will help attract them to the bait
You need to use a crankbait specific rod soon. You need the give of a slower action rod to help stay pinned. Also you could use mono with maybe a fluoro leader so you get a bit of stretch which also helps in the "give" department. If that line ur using is fluoro and the rod is a fast action you're losing fish because of it.
Exactly what I was thinking. Cranking on a graphite rod is a no no.
Great advice. ( Especially for the not so knowledgeable like myself). A crankbait rod such as what? What's your "go-to"?
I went back with a different rod, and crushed them. Stay tuned. 😬
@@tommiegage3243 you have lots of options and all price ranges. The key is a slower action. Not the power of a rod but the action. Such as a medium or medium/heavy is the power. Most normal rods are fast action. Some(like drop shot rods) are extra-fast action. You may see those words on the rod or f,xf as abbreviations. You want a mod. or moderate action for cranking. What this means is as follows. An Xtra fast action like drop shot rods bends mostly towards the tip of a rod. Maybe from the butt to about 3/4s of the rod is stiffer and barely bends. A moderate action rod(like a crankbait rod) bends much earlier towards the middle, maybe even more towards the reel and continues pretty evenly towards the tip. This is a "slower" or "softer" action you want for cranking it gives a bit and doesn't pull hooks as easily. It's basically a shock absorber for the hit, Hookset and fight. Look the rods up you like and chances are they'll have the slower or moderate action as an option. Good luck.
@@PigPatrolTV sweet I can't wait to watch it.
Husker catches carp. 😅 Missouri calls brother
8:12 in and I'm really hoping the rest of this video is Stachebag missing fish. It would be an epic troll video and so far I'm heavily entertained.
LMAO grass carp broke him off. All we've landed is a long nose. this is awesome
Guessing you were getting hit by gar and the hooks just wouldn’t set. Happens to me all the time
I sense a MEGA Flathead in your future! God bless you and your fam!
You sensed correctly 😉
That color combo on that thumbnail crank is sickkkkkkk
Quil back maybe. Caught one that looked that yesterday
That's actually a small grass carp. Here in my state the record is 53 inches and 59 pounds. The record was broken multiple times in the same body of water.
Gar carry thrier catch for some time before taking it in---you have let them swim with it until they decide to take it all the way in--then ou set the hook. If you try to set the hook when they first grab it you will lose them every time.
White bass are fun to caught .
Grass carp do in fact have teeth behind the gills. It is not uncommon for them to cut off leaders when they swallow it.
Dude I woul love to fish with you oneday
Pig patrol rocks
Bro watching when you were small creeks for blue gill, damn awesome wat you do but why don't you kill the carp?
What the heck o-fer...lol
Omg Josh, was there even hooks on that square bill?
Looked like a quillback.
Took a dump on the side of my truck. Lol. Epic.
Even trash fish beat getting skunked 🎣🐟🎣
I cant say I would have after the first lost fish but when I lost the 3rd one, those hooks would have been checked for sharpness with nothing less than a Scanning Electron Microscope. Or just changed out. Most likely just changed out because I don't even know where the nearest SEM is. But y'all know what im saying.😂
They are bitting it and letting it go.
Carp carp carp.... Gar... no wonder Milliken and rive rcertified left that area
Hah 😂
Man I’ve had those days where they kept getting off the hook. You really start to question yourself.
Awesome video still, keep up the great content.
Ha nice try
Josh was distracted he was either drunk stoned or arguing with the missus
Looked like a Quill Back to me 👍
GF caught an 11LB 2 Oz drum bud. 29" on her LW pink pole
Nice bro
Can I get a Pa Pow Sir Stache 🤘
Small mouth buffalo, they get over 40 pounds in Texas.
Bro set the hook 😂
Maybe a highfin carpsucker, vs smallmouth buffalo New species.
Can you go Mountain fishing after brown trout or rainbow trout
What are the ribbed body swim baits u used?
Does things move like and snake.
HA! you let an f bomb sneak by without a quack!
You know your mad when you squat lol
Josh, never take a dump ON the side of your truck. Always dump next to your truck. Better resale value that way.
In the south we call those alligator gar
Pelican food😂 That's what we call em.
Have there been any updates/changes to the stache stick rod selection?
Not that I'm aware of, but I'll definitely be adding a crankbait specific one if I'm able to.. Lol
And stuff. Is that a Nebraska thing?
It would be killer to spend the day ripping lips with the stash man.that would be epic...
That fish kinda looks like a carp and a drum bud had a baby lol
What reel we working with there
Is this the same water that you and TyPigPatrol caught that monster flat head??
Either a quillback or a Prussian carp.
You should get those fish mouth grabbers so you can grab gar.
I love your content and have been watching you for years. but you not having a net drives me nuts. Also get one of those folding fish nets so you can connect the net and fish onto the scale and weigh any size fish no problem.
All I learned is do not buy 6th sense square bills, they have dull hooks
Sharpen em up , it's pretty rare hooks are sticky sharp out of the package.
The hooks weren't dull. Those were gar , they are extremely hard to set the hook on. Well that is my opinion anyways.
@@gregoryjackson4604 just not a lot of meat or tissue the hooks can grab. It’s a curse to those who want to land gar, but a blessing to me
I’ve never had a problem
Always file your hooks to give the metal a nice texter to cut.
midwest where?
I don't know if this would get you demonetized, but I've always wanted you to call us fans "stache-ticles" at the start of a video! 😂
I'm willing to risk it lol
When you caught then there mad bit when you swim withem they don't bother you.
Lmao I see you remember from a few years ago when I called you a flatlander and called your “mountains” hills. My bad bro😂 still appreciate your videos bud! Hope all is well stache bro!
Sorry bro those are foot hills at most!!
Not if you live in an area where it's nothing but flat for miles and miles and miles...
50 feet is a mountain!😂
@@thefishingpol yep haha
@@thefishingpol I guess but I live in area where I can see the sun rise over the grand Tetons and the sun set over the sawtooths and mt Jefferson to the north and many smaller mountain’s between in all directions so to me those are just slight elevation Changes
Starts the video telling us he took a dump on the side of his truck and his fingers look like they are full of… lol😂
That was definitely a small mouth Buffalo
Dull hooks?
