@@kennethnero2011 thank you so much! ^^
@@NASS_0 no problem (:
NASS, this is absolutely amazing footage. Thank you! 👍
It's always a strange feeling when there is a crowd all looking at the camera in wonderment. Little did they know we would be looking back at them (and meeting them for the first time) a century later.
So true. I also think about that more than likely everyone in a video this old is long dead.
@@bozardio no more than likely to it... they are gone 😢 😔
@@graemespringer4643 A very young child in a video from the 20s could still be alive or have just recently died. The vast majority though for sure have been gone for some time.
If it's from 1929, some can be still alive with 93 years. If it were a baby though.
On a cell phone
Wow, more simple times and so much is still recognisable today. A true window on the past, that feels almost like you could step through the screen and into the streets of that time. How amazing that would be to experience.
Beautifully restored footage of the 1920s , my mother grew up in that period and always told me about how clean the West End of London was.
good for the few ,dreadful for the many...
@@PK-yf3hd explain your strange comment.
Well, the west end being where the wealthy lived, the council would clean it. It’s the same today: in the same borough you’ll find a fraction of the infrastructure spending happens in the poor vs richer end. Less roadmending, less street cleaning, less maintenance of streetlamps, patchier rubbish collection.
@@eh1702 mention those street names please because I live in the west end and I’ve never seen anything like you describe.

The year my grandfather was born and he made it right up to 2010, what a world of change he lived through.
I want to know your grandfather's name.
When was he born?
When I see these old images I cannot help wishing were there and not come back again. All those times seem to be better...
it was a tough life back then. no washing machines, dry cleaners, jobs were hard to come by. damp and sanitation problems. plus world war 1 and 2 to look forward too. hardly better times
@@mrexpress8002 Bollocks. Britain went straight to hell after WW2 and we are still suffering 78 years later.
@@Devenus20211 You don't know what you are talking about. Just because you failed in life does not mean others have. Now go back to your care home!
This is the closest thing we have to a time machine we have. The way you restore them makes it look like you are there. Thank you for these videos!
Awesome how clean the streets were then compared to 2022 loved the six young lads and dog getting there picture on film
And they looked like very nice happy lads there still being seen on film years and years later yeah amazing
Less people that's why
It's shocking to see how the social fabric has crumbled since this time. Beautiful reminder of a time of dignity and self care.
Remember that these were the best parts of London, the wealthy and privileged. They aren’t showing how the majority of people actually lived. They wouldn’t have “wasted” the film.
Yeah, the social structure in the UK is going to shit just like America.
A city that was we can only dream of now.
I prefer how it looked then by far along with the way people dressed.
My grandad was born in 1898 and although i lost him in my teens it still amazes me how life was then from the stories that I remember him telling me. To think he was alive when the Titanic sunk is mad.
It looked so clean. And people seemed respectful.
Clean ?wouldn't fancy coming in your house.
@@61js I wasn't commenting on anyone's house dummy. I was referring to the streets and roads.
I can't thank you enough for these amazing videos. It's truly breathtakingly beautiful.
Imagine taking a vacation to visit a different year.
Qz, yes, it would be awesomely beyond words. We would have to adjust grammar, as it would be grammatically correct to say things such as "I will see you yesterday", and "I saw you tomorrow".
@@newmankidman5763 Indeed, and the adjustment has to be in correct pronunciation and diction, o’l English language was beautiful and vast beyond words.
Fascinating film and live the colouring and the soundscape.
The grime on the buildings is striking and it remained that way until the 1970s when people started to become really aware of pollution.
Thanks for sharing ❤
The faces of London Londonistan look very different now

Am a Londoner...this is fantastic 👌
@Stella David, Perhaps you probably miss yesterday’s London (lucky old folks like me sorely do) e;g 60’s 70’s 80’s so much safer and fun inducing, us good guys, in pubs, art expo and walking on the streets for a bit of exercise, I could breathe peace, never felt dread, I certainly miss the fun of that unique era, a far cry from what we have today.
Many people of my generation certainly feel lucky. (I’m 63) thank you for reading..cheers… 🍻
My Grandfather was born in 1931 in Sunderland, but grew up in London during WWII. I wish he was around today so I could show him this - he passed in 2018. As he got older he missed home (despite being in what became known as Canada in his early 20s), and often spoke of what London was like back in the 30s and 40s. He would have loved this time machine bringing him back home to an era reminicent of his childhood.
I'm with you Mitters, my dad was born in 1931 and lived in London area until the late 50's. He passed last year.😔
I had a relative born in London 1900, moved to the country 1960s, said London was changing. He also said Londoners loved the trams.

Again another awesome video by the master. That Gothic architecture is second to none.
Another awesome video by NASS, and as always, beautifully done‼️👍❤️

Man I wish I was there even back in 1911 that was amazing to see 👀 it all like those now and ty for posting it up
Civilised people going about their daily business with little or no fear of terrorist attacks racial violence or muggings.
Why do you think that's all changed?
Most of which is carried out by gov agencies and it’s ilk …

@Keef Dichards Yes I've thought of that too, the people in these films are dressed nicely but oh they must smell

There’s a building with an ornate rooftop just across from Westminster Abbey i didn’t recall seeing when i last visited back in 1999.Much of the historic skyline was being overtaken by modern imposing skyscrapers unfortunately.
Or it was "removed" courtesy of the Luftwaffe
Possibly the Central Methodist Hall, which is still there ….
Yes London's sky line has been ruined by the sky scrapers. Planners should be locked up.
Brutalist architecture has turned Britain into a rather hostile and barren place.
A time travellers view of London 100yrs ago, amazing.
Awesome. I always look forward to your new restoration videos. One of the most unique channels on UA-cam.
thank you so much🙏
Amazing scenery. I wasn’t born yet. But still I can see myself living in those days.
When England was beautiful and safe
The architecture looks miserable
and shitty
Old Chesshire Cheese!
I wish I could travel back to this time with a portable microphone and tape recorder and record how people talked back then, what they had to say about matters, and possibly ask them if they know any old songs...
That pub is still there today with an identical sign! Astonishing.
You took your life in your hands crossing the road. Thank you for the video. This was the year my late Mother was born.
凄い 100年以上前か👍

People should be taught that it once was a British city, look at it now.
The Woke Media are trying hard to re-write history and pretend that we have always been a "an ethnically diverse" country - but these films prove them wrong.
Well, it is still British…it’s a United Kingdom
Victorian London still intact by then.
Interesting how they all dressed well during casual.
Always love watching! Awesome work!
thank you so much!
King George V and Queen Mary of Teck ruled Great Britain at this time in the 1920's. (1910-1936 full ruling time). They were Queen Elizabeth's Grandparents! Plus, wow look at the top hatted young men at 2:33 . You know they must have been the Wealthy! All Smiles! LOL. Thanks for the upload.
thank you so much
Yes I bet they wish Prince Andrew was never born
Queen Mary of Teck
@@clarevoyant6322 Yes, your right. My mistake. That's what I meant. I will correct it. Thanks.
London before the dark times...
haha
Indeed
literally
Don't get nostalgic, you wouldn't last a minute without the Internet.
The time when people were not all obese, obsessed with wearing naff sportswear and looking at their phones.
Wow, cops didn’t stand around looking mean back then
There was a more holistic approach to policing before Atlee made everything so oppressive. Same with housing and street design, everything is grossly over-engineered in modern Britain and it makes the place look and feel like shit.
What a delight. No traffic “architecture”- signs, barriers, cluttering the streets.
Western society was truly ahead of it's time back in those days. Since WW2 there has been a notable wealth transfer, from the dying west to the rising east.
A great poet once wrote. “With the dim lit skyline of this magnificent city shines the divide of culture and wealth, London is the plate that holds the concave of life, how I love London”
This is not his best work.
Until Hitler destroyed it that is.
The Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese pub is still there :)
Fantastic. Thank you!
thank you so much!
I was sitting there anticipating Holmes and Watson to walk by...
Really interesting people were so smartly dressed back then.
Absolutely wonderful and evocative. The rather portly policeman didn’t appear to be in the best physical shape to chase any offenders, haha. I enjoyed this very much. Thank you
Beautiful work
Just two decades before the Blitz!
when people were hard working, poor yet they respected one another, maybe because it was ONE culture and no primitive cultures
I recall when the dirt was stripped from all those buildings, starting in the 1960s. All that muck from coal fires and exhausts. Look at the state of the Bank of England!
look at it now ha ha 😂
Great art, very good work.
Ooooh, to hear the old time accents though. I listen in closely when I see someone close without hearing a peep lol
I didn't know London used to have white people, this is amazing
Ah the nostalgia looks wonderful abd people were proud
It's quite eerie watching your videos post 1st WW and Pre 2nd WW, in there somewhere were survivors from the 1st WW and some that would of entered the 2nd WW never should their sacrifice be forgotten and in some aspects these bring them back. also seeing buildings that in 20 years September the 7th 1940 London was bombed for 57 straight days they would face some of the most horrific attacks from Germany, in one attack 348 German Bombers & 617 targeted the London they believed if they destroyed The City of London & St. Pauls Cathedral they would break their spirit, Whoever could help helped some hoses ran 2 miles to the River Thames to protect St Pauls from the incendiary devices some hit but whilst surrounding buildings fell like the Roman Empire St Pauls which at the time was the tallest building stood tall and proud. The Germans were to never break the British Bulldog Spirit.
Thanks for the excellent work bringing the past to life. It would be great if you could do one of King George Vl's funeral.
The double decker bus lives on
2:28 is Windsor, followed by school boys from Eton
Thanks to JoeyBtoonz for introducing this wonderful channel.
Nass, Great work!!
Brilliant!
thank you so much
All the people you see in the clip are dead. Past historical generations. It makes me realise that so little really matters. We worry, we angst, we argue, we protest, and yet our lives, like those above, are just so incredibility short.
So true!
We Want £5000. Direct, to the point, no BS.
never thought a kid in the 20s would "pretend the umbrella was a rifle"
Demography is destiny.
I can see people back then had a great sense of dressing in general.
I was born in the day when the best us civvies could own was silent cine 8 move film. I now film in 4k & have had photos published in various well known establishments just from a pocket phone.
At this time, they could not have known, that there was an even bigger, more terrifying war to come, after the one they just went through.
We seem to be on the road to destroying ourselves. Oh, the mistakes of human folly!
amazing how dirty the buildings and statues were, compared to now.... all that coal burning i suppose.
even with the low resolution you can see the grime. Amazing
Omg, impressive
Good video I was thinking how all the people in the video are buried in the cemeteries around London now.
you can just see that life was so much better back then. The city was also a lot cleaner.
my nanny just turned 101 from few days ago born in 1921..properly odd ones still live today from that time of this video filmed as babies. Many hitting 100 these days.
Bless her 🙏 ❤. I wish her and you well.
Wait. What...London was a white city once????
Who’dathunkit?
2:43 Lord Melchett from Blackadder has arrived '.....Baaah at ease,gentlemen....baaaah stop slouching ,darling....."
Thank You
Astonishing.
The Lord Snooty kid who gently 'steers' the office towards the camera - very funny piss-take. (2:49)
The dwarfs that want 5000 Quid - were they somehow given some faulty medication that led to their short stature and wanted 5000 as a financial settlement? (3:06) Impossible to understand the context.
The camera guy still lives on.
London is the best in the world!
Was.
Now it's paying back what is owed
Why has all the diversity been edited out?
Brief shot at 2:27 of Windsor town centre (castle and Queen Victoria) followed by nearby Eton College, boys outside the School Library.
Who were these boys? What became of them I wonder? If they'd lived to become old some may have lived into the 1980s or 90s. In the 1920s they were of a tiny privileged few who had won a lottery marked privilege, wealth, status and opportunity compared with millions of others. I noticed the boy in the company of the man in military uniform ( a father/older brother?) coming into shot briefly.
It is so wacky seeing buildings leaning like that.
It's not just London of course. There are also clips of Windsor and Eton. The school boys giggling away!
GREAT VIDEO SUPER NASS THANKS
thank you so much
I want 5000£ too 🤓
Looking at old pictures or photos is pretty amazing....but these are a whole different ball game entirely.
I was born in the 60s, but it seems to me that we have very much gone backwards in this country.
No respect or manners..... & no sign of a policeman/woman when you need one.
Good thing some rich guy back that bought a camera because we get to see this

Very interesting
So many dead people… 🥺🥺 We Will all die sooner or later too…
It’s quite dark - is that because of the smog?
