While connecting to cosmos db, there is a error in power bi saying "we couldn't authenticate with the credentials provided" tried to make changes in data source settings...still not working.
This feature is not really a Power BI feature. Synapse link is a seamless connectivity option provided within Cosmos DB for connecting to Azure Synapse workspace for close to real time access of container data through your Synapse workspace. It needs to be enabled at Azure Cosmos DB end. As far as Power BI is concerned all it require is to use the standard Synapse connector to connect to your Synapse instance. It doesnt require any Premium license for this.
Thank you for this. Just (almost) what I was looking for. I have a couple of questions: 1) if I publish this to Power BI service, would it update real-time, as in almost instantaneous? 2) I initially was thinking of using streaming dataset where I send POST requests to the API url of the streaming dataset, then create a report based on that dataset and finally a dashboard. But if I want to see live data instantly, I am restricted to the 5 visuals in the live tiles of the dashboard. Do you any workaround where I can have a map update in near-time in a dashboard? Thanks.
Yes. It will update close to real-time by virtue of the Synapse link feature which will add an analytical store to Cosmos DB container and expose it through Synapse Analytics into Power BI through the direct query connection. Sorry didn't understand the second part. What do you mean by map update? Do you map visual?
@@dataplatformcentral3036 Thank you for the reply. Yes, I meant I wanted a map visual to update in real-time in a dashboard. But we're restricted to a few visuals if we use the live tiles features. Any idea of how to have a map visual update in real-time, without using Synapse?
From costing perspective, it requires provisioning Azure Synapse in addition to your existing Power BI license And depending on how you want data to be processed/persisted you can opt for serverless (default) or your on dedicated sql pool. The former is pay per use mode and the latter like a provisioned hw based on reqd config

What kind of credential you're trying to pass? Account Key? or are you using synapse link?
@dataplatformcentral3036 it's the primary key provided inside the cosmos db...am new to this platform not sure about synapse link
Hello, thank you for your contribution. Is it possible to run what you've shown with Power BI Pro (or Embededd) or Premium is required? Tks

I havent tried it myself, but may be Event hub + Stream Analytics might help you out on this
And how about costs? What are your impressions? Thank you!

Can Synapse or POWER BI
simultaneuosly connect to two azure cosmos DB at a time and query them together.
Same answer as before
I want video on log analytics to power bi on alerts based
If you mean linking Power BI to Log Analytics and analyzing usage etc. that video link is given below

Yes
Using Synapse link for CosmosDB its possible
