Government officials like to think they're better than everyone else, more civilized than your average citizen. You know what a high-up politician sees when he looks at a group of angry protesters? Animals. Animals that should be ignored or gotten rid of. So don't use anger, because it won't help. Appeal to their "high-class" attitudes by being professional. They like that, and that pleasant encounter may leave just enough room for them to be swayed. Thing is that Net Neutrality got replealed on December 14, 2017. Over 80% of Americans, despite their political affiliation didn't want it repealed. The FCC took it away anyway. The "Save the Internet Act" has been suggested in March 2019 which would basically bring back Net Neutrality. But the Senate is mainly republican, so it won't pass. How bills/laws work (oversimplified): #1 House of Representatives (rn its mainly dems): Writes up law, sends to Senate [Wrote up Save the Internet Act] #2 Senate (mainly rep): Dis/Approves law, pass to judicial branch [Reps voted against Net Neutrality so no. They ain't gonna use "take backsies" to bring it back] #3 Judicial Branch (suppose to be non-biased but Trump appointed "Kavanaugh" which would then lean more republican)*: is this law constitutional, aka follows the constitution??? Yes? Pass. Nah? Don't pass, this is America 🇺🇸. [Even if it passes, the sliiiightly republican judicial branch could easily vote against it] *b/c would you really go against the person who gave you a job???

Honestly, I'm so happy to see that there's a lot of people that are fighting against this. It's what we really need to do, this is like our home and we need to fight for it; WE built the internet together. WE made it a better place. It's true that there are some unpleasant and unwanted content but hey, put that aside, we don't care about that. we MUST stop this. it's not just important, it's extremely important and I am so grateful that a lot of UA-camrs or other people in another social media are talking about this. we need to put hand in hand and fight this together!
first of all, schools NEED the Internet for tests and work or else education will basically be gone. secondly, sometimes the internet has saved people's lives by making them happier. yes, there will always be flaws in everything, but this is the land of the free and people deserve to have this for free. they already have to pay enough for other things.
Schools will still have access to the internet after the net neutrality laws are repealed. Freedom should ultimately manifest itself in the freedom of ISPs to operate the means of access to the internet because they own the means of access.

America's education is just the same as everyone else's education. Ajit Pai needs to understand this. Not all people are rich enough for this.

My 8th grade social studies teacher recently contacted our local Representatives to go against the repeal If everyone watching does this we can stop this before it even starts
We have no power to stop this, Congress could pass it's own bill or amend the 1996 telecommunications act to protect net neutrality once the FCC ends it. This will not happen under the current Congress for two reasons. It might get pass the Senate with "moderate" republicans like Susan Collins with the help of all Democrats but will probably fail in the house which has been constantly more right wing than the senate. This is just my speculation. The second reason Trump will just veto it and I don't see Congress getting enough votes to override the veto. We are fucked thanks to decades of Republican fear mongering over government regulation and by putting way to much faith in the free markets and corporations.

I am a disabled full time college student who makes less than $9,000 per year. I need internet access to be able to succeed in school. I can't afford anything like this. I can't even afford a TV package. I only use Netflix and UA-cam for videos. I'm actually scared about this. I'm worried enough to actually write letters to the government about this. I"ve never been so passionate about something before.
Net Neutrality repeal needs to be stopped in its tracks. That said, I doubt we'll wake up the day following its demise to find the web a vastly different place. I suspect that ISPs are too savvy for that. They're more likely to implement changes a bit at a time so as not to anger a vast majority of their customer base at any one time. That said, I suspect some changes might well hit us right away. For instance, those of us who distrust mainstream news media and rely instead on "alternative news" sources found mostly online might well find access to those source blocked restricted, especially those that disagree with the political and economic interests of the ISP and its financial backers, which tend to be solidly corporate establishment. I would thing that it is in their interest to stifle such voices before they can affect the outcome of upcoming elections. Not saying that WILL be the case, but I fear it's a strong possibility. Whatever the outcome, it won't be good for the consumer.
The FCC backed up their opinion that it would be good to repeal Net Neutrality with the statement that these were not legal issues. It's illegal to kill people, and depriving people of the money they earn over the internet could be considered robbery. Regardless of laws, this will start a rebellion, or a war, as seen in France. Same I been saved by the internet I was in a bad place and still struggle I started making videos to help me four years ago when I was about to give up I was abused a lot I mean a lot Asa kind both mentally and physically in first grade a teacher cracked my head open stabbed in middle school made fun of because if special needs classes and it didn't get better till I was around 30 thanks to youtube even tho I am nobody I still have a few good people who watch and help wish I was more out going but I still hide on my shell a lot and peek my head out the it goes back in its been a struggle I don't make much money and I just found out my back is broken and it is making my life hard don't even know if I can work any more soon I am I law enforcement of course I have never told them about my problems but I have learned some things and I have eve helped out a few people any ways I don't make much can barley afford the internet between five of use
What these companies don’t get about the internet is that the internet is not just something you can buy and make profit from. The internet is a special place. It’s not perfect, but it helps you get away from reality and all of life. You can meet like minded people all over the world. They can’t just set walls and boundaries, watching us and marking us forced to pay just to watch content from our favorite UA-camrs. It needs to be stopped. We’re humans, not “low-class” idiots who can be easy to manipulate. We’re better than this.

I have called senators. Emailed the 3 guys who are pushing for the repeal, and signed a lot of ballots. I feel so hopeless. There needs to be a law written against them pushing for this over and over. All they do is make minute changes and run it through again and again. It's exhausting

If the free world of the internet is gone... I'll lose everything - and I'm not being dramatic. I write books and publish them online for fun. That would be gone. I use songs from UA-cam, and they inspire me to sing and use my voice! That would end, and my dream of being a singer would be gone - and I'd be letting someone I care about down by doing so. I don't want to do that to him. I wouldn't draw as much anymore, talk as much anymore, smile as much anymore - me myself, as a person, wouldn't *be* anymore. I'd lose contact with all of the wonderful people I've met online - and I love them. I can't leave them behind. I'd be leaving you, all of the best UA-camrs and ones I love! Without any of you... I wouldn't be inspired to be who I am anymore. I'm a kid with big dreams, who wants to be like you all; making others happy, while doing the same for yourself in the process. Just look at games now you have to pay more to have the full game instead of paying it and have it already. The internet is also a resource for teachers/educators everywhere, and if they need to pay for it... like for example, my school hardly has enough money to fix things (the girls washroom doesn’t even have doors) but we’re able to use the internet to find info we don’t have. If we have to start paying for it, we’ll lose that entire resource.

The world will be a different place were profit and fame is more important than love and coming together as a community. I want to put in a note about how this affects schools as well. The internet is one of the greatest resources for schools to teach their students. Public schools already struggle financially, I mean just think about the lunches they serve, all those books with broken covers and oages torn out because they cant buy a new set. Having to buy all these bundles or whatever is going to have an astonishing impact on how we teach kids. This on top of the dwindling funding going towards public education is a recipe for disaster.

This would affect small businesses because you could go to the small business's website,but then the provider can send you to a more popular or more commonly used website instead. It can affect schools and students by blocking commonly used websites for research and take them to the websites the providers want. It can affect people who just use the internet to be themselves by blocking them from their favorite websites or stopping them from posting their fan art or stories. I have friends that I can only talk to online and i'm like their Online Mom. If we lose connection with each other,I can't talk to them and they could go back into depression or anxiety.

Thing is that Net Neutrality got replealed on December 14, 2017. Over 80% of Americans, despite their political affiliation didn't want it repealed. The FCC took it away anyway. The "Save the Internet Act" has been suggested in March 2019 which would basically bring back Net Neutrality. But the Senate is mainly republican, so it won't pass.
How bills/laws work (oversimplified):
#1 House of Representatives (rn its mainly dems):
Writes up law, sends to Senate
[Wrote up Save the Internet Act]
#2 Senate (mainly rep): Dis/Approves law, pass to judicial branch
[Reps voted against Net Neutrality so no. They ain't gonna use "take backsies" to bring it back]
#3 Judicial Branch (suppose to be non-biased but Trump appointed "Kavanaugh" which would then lean more republican)*: is this law constitutional, aka follows the constitution??? Yes? Pass. Nah? Don't pass, this is America 🇺🇸.

We have no power to stop this, Congress could pass it's own bill or amend the 1996 telecommunications act to protect net neutrality once the FCC ends it.
This will not happen under the current Congress for two reasons.
It might get pass the Senate with "moderate" republicans like Susan Collins with the help of all Democrats but will probably fail in the house which has been constantly more right wing than the senate. This is just my speculation.
The second reason Trump will just veto it and I don't see Congress getting enough votes to override the veto.
We are fucked thanks to decades of Republican fear mongering over government regulation and by putting way to much faith in the free markets and corporations.

He may look stupid on the outside but he knows how important something like this is and he wants the best for the country he was put into power to protect and, more importantly, follow the vote and wants of the people who put him there.
If enough votes are put in for keeping net neutrality, the government will listen, and will let the internet stay free for all. Politicians understand that people don't want the internet to cost money for "premium membership", so will make sure the people they represent are heard. They wouldn't be in power if no one wanted them their.
Some people will argue that the internet needs to be controlled more, but not like this. Every chance they get to make money, they will take it, regardless of what people think or want to do with it. It’s a big part of my life, my school’s life, my family’s life, and my friend’s lives. I can’t imagine not being able to see videos on UA-cam because people want to make even more money off of it. I am a disabled full time college student who makes less than $9,000 per year. I need internet access to be able to succeed in school. I can't afford anything like this. I can't even afford a TV package. I only use Netflix and UA-cam for videos. I'm actually scared about this. I'm worried enough to actually write letters to the government about this. I"ve never been so passionate about something before.

Net Neutrality repeal needs to be stopped in its tracks. That said, I doubt we'll wake up the day following its demise to find the web a vastly different place. I suspect that ISPs are too savvy for that. They're more likely to implement changes a bit at a time so as not to anger a vast majority of their customer base at any one time. That said, I suspect some changes might well hit us right away. For instance, those of us who distrust mainstream news media and rely instead on "alternative news" sources found mostly online might well find access to those source blocked restricted, especially those that disagree with the political and economic interests of the ISP and its financial backers, which tend to be solidly corporate establishment. I would thing that it is in their interest to stifle such voices before they can affect the outcome of upcoming elections. Not saying that WILL be the case, but I fear it's a strong possibility. Whatever the outcome, it won't be good for the consumer.
The FCC backed up their opinion that it would be good to repeal Net Neutrality with the statement that these were not legal issues. It's illegal to kill people, and depriving people of the money they earn over the internet could be considered robbery. Regardless of laws, this will start a rebellion, or a war, as seen in France. People will go insane. There's your legal issue-men, women, and children will die.

Same I been saved by the internet I was in a bad place and still struggle I started making videos to help me four years ago when I was about to give up I was abused a lot I mean a lot Asa kind both mentally and physically in first grade a teacher cracked my head open stabbed in middle school made fun of because if special needs classes and it didn't get better till I was around 30 thanks to youtube even tho I am nobody I still have a few good people who watch and help wish I was more out going but I still hide on my shell a lot and peek my head out the it goes back in its been a struggle I don't make much money and I just found out my back is broken and it is making my life hard don't even know if I can work any more soon I am I law enforcement of course I have never told them about my problems but I have learned some things and I have eve helped out a few people any ways I don't make much can barley afford the internet between five of use
What these companies don’t get about the internet is that the internet is not just something you can buy and make profit from. The internet is a special place. It’s not perfect, but it helps you get away from reality and all of life. You can meet like minded people all over the world. They can’t just set walls and boundaries, watching us and marking us forced to pay just to watch content from our favorite UA-camrs. It needs to be stopped. We’re humans, not “low-class” idiots who can be easy to manipulate. We’re better than this.

I have called senators. Emailed the 3 guys who are pushing for the repeal, and signed a lot of ballots. I feel so hopeless. There needs to be a law written against them pushing for this over and over. All they do is make minute changes and run it through again and again. It's exhausting

If we allow this to happen, not only this would be a breach of our 1st Amendment, but many places around the world that are economically struggling could be denied access to the internet. The internet is a way to bring people around the world together, and if this plan was set in motion that would be severely limited. The internet is the biggest community in the world, and we shouldn't allow our community to be cut off, we deserve freedom and we should be allowed to keep it, we're human beings, we have rights, we're not money making machines for companies to exploit. We have a voice, we need to speak up and rise against these problems.

oh my goodness this is kinda scary in a way... I really hope we can change this. the internet is such an important part of today’s culture, and helps us explore whatever we need to in order to advance as people. it helps us learn, laugh, create, speak... this is way too much, it needs to stay how it is, because even though it’s not perfect, this would just be making it far, far worse.
The internet is also a resource for teachers/educators everywhere, and if they need to pay for it... like for example, my school hardly has enough money to fix things (the girls washroom doesn’t even have doors) but we’re able to use the internet to find info we don’t have. If we have to start paying for it, we’ll lose that entire resource.

I want to put in a note about how this affects schools as well. The internet is one of the greatest resources for schools to teach their students. Public schools already struggle financially, I mean just think about the lunches they serve, all those books with broken covers and oages torn out because they cant buy a new set. Having to buy all these bundles or whatever is going to have an astonishing impact on how we teach kids. This on top of the dwindling funding going towards public education is a recipe for disaster.

This would affect small businesses because you could go to the small business's website,but then the provider can send you to a more popular or more commonly used website instead.
It can affect schools and students by blocking commonly used websites for research and take them to the websites the providers want.
It can affect people who just use the internet to be themselves by blocking them from their favorite websites or stopping them from posting their fan art or stories.
I have friends that I can only talk to online and i'm like their Online Mom. If we lose connection with each other,I can't talk to them and they could go back into depression or anxiety.

do you even know what they hope to change about the internet? it has literally nothing to do with profit. they noticed that certian sites are used more(say youtube for instance) than others. so the INSPs wanted to streamline those sites to clear up lag issues. the law doesnt allow that. so instead if you get 10 people using youtube off one router, it takes 8 hrs to load a frikin video. sooooo yay? we all get to suffer worse load times. thanks mark.
