Can I politely add ..... Buy a velvet or fabric clutch bag in a great solid colour. Mine is black velvet by Butler & Wilson, London. You can clip a beautiful brooch on the front and it lifts a whole outfit ..... Imagine a pair of smart jeans, white cotton shirt, heels, and a navy bag with a brooch. I wear my brooches on my work shift dresses and shirtwaisters, but also have evening dresses with fitted waistbands and will pop a brooch on that. My Grandma had been a 1920's flapper, and there are photographs of her with silk dancing dresses, handkerchief points and splits .... She would pin a brooch at the dropped waist level to give some weight to the silk so it didn't flash too much!
YESSSSSS‼️ 🤭🏆😘😱 I wear brooches on different styles and materials of hats. I love them on wool barets, floppy straw hats, dress hats (wide brim, fascinator, skull caps, and beanies). I've worn them on plain necklaces, belts, scarfs, blouses, jackets, coats, dress and casual purses, and all types of buttonless clothing. I LOVE THEM.😘🎯💯👀💥🎊💥✨️🔥🎊
I have lots of pretty brooches, but always struggled on how to wear them. Although on one occasion I decided to copy Rosemary Clooney from the movie White Christmas. I pinned a big sparkly brooch to the back of a dress I was wearing to an official party. It got plenty of comments! ☺
I love my brooches and totally agree the should “face” the right way. Just found your channel but subscribed and looking forward to finding your video on your collection. I have over 500 brooches. Many were my mothers. I’m 61 and have always worn them and always will.
Another helpful and informative video ! I have quite a few brooches (not all original vintage) and I love wearing them. I totally agree that the bird and teapot need to be 'facing' the correct way ! My Mam always, always had a brooch on (mainly dragonfly's and butterflies). She would often where one on her shoulder, slightly on the back of her garment as if the dragonfly/butterfly had landed on her shoulder. X
You really are an inspiration! I've loved brooches since I was a young girl playing in my Grandma's costume jewelry. Now I want to check my favorite antique malls for some lovely brooches to add to my daily wardrobe.
I love this! I haven’t been wearing my brooches much lately but now I feel a bit more inspired ☺️ And I also like them facing me! I loved the tea pot brooch logic 😆
Thank you for this. I love wearing brooches and this answered quite a few of my questions. I loved you showing the Queen wearing her brooches. She had some very beautiful ones. I live in the US, but she has always been a favorite of mine.
Always love your videos, but this one especially spoke with me. I have a small but growing collection of brooches. I love to wear them in the “standard” left chest position, but also sometimes at the waist and often as an addition to one of my vintage or vintage inspired hats. I have a picture of my great grandmother in a cloche and she had a brooch on it. I’ve mimicked that look many times with my cloche hats.
This was great- I always get caught out while wearing brooches with things like bags and seatbelts! I would love if you could make a video about the care of vintage brooches. I have a few that belonged to family members but I'm often scared to wear them or attempt to clean them.
I love that you included the scarf look, I personally love it! I also recently bought a VERY inexpensive camellia brooch in “gold and diamond” variety, I used to attach three different length strands of pearls at the neckline that added the PERFECT Chanel look. You can use a brooch on sooooo many things! We never even touched on the more “retro” shoulder look for elongated styles!
Thank you. This helped me decide which vintage brooches to keep/sell from my aunt and mom who passed. It’s hard to discern what kept the you will actually use.
You have some really amazing brooches Christine! And I must admit you've inspired me to buy a few more for myself. As a fairly new subscriber I'd like to say thank you for being such an incredible example of how gorgeous Vintage clothing can look on women of ALL shapes and sizes! My body type is very similar to yours and you've given me that much needed confidence to really go for it with my own love of Vintage styling. Good luck with your move and we can't wait to follow your adventures in your new home. Enjoy Fall! I just found the most magical place in my home town and am planning a Fall Vintage photo shoot this year as its my favorite time of year too! 🥰🍂🍁
Lovely video! Brooches are my favourite jewellery pieces, I expand my collection whenever an opportunity arises 😉 I usually wear them in the space between my collar and shoulder just like you do 😊
I’m so glad I found your channel. I have a collection of brooches that I love. I just needed some ideas on how to wear them fashionably. Thanks for sharing. 😊❤️
Oh! Thank you so much, Christine for the video! 🤗 I really love brooches 😍 You will not believe but I always care about facing of brooch as well as you 😁
I love brooches and all of yours are so nice. I’d love to get more for my collection. I’ll look around❤️. Thank you for this video, you are such a lovely person with beautiful style🌸.
Another terrific video! The seat belt factor is something I only realised a little while ago, it was a lightbulb moment! Something I also found is with very fiddly clasps it is so much easier to pin the brooch to my garment before I actually get dressed! No more trying to look down and getting a cricked neck or getting the brooch wonky!
In Europe (The Netherlands) a woman wears a broche on the left side. A weddingbroche with flowers is also on the left but upside down as men on the right up.
Thank you for this. Just a reminder to thoroughly clean the brooch pin before using it on a pale garment. A teeny bit of tarnish that's forced into the fibres can be impossible to remove😢 I speak from experience. Also, don't be tempted to leave the brooch on the garment when you're not wearing it. It can stretch and deform it, as well as getting caught on other garments on your rail. I was wondering how to wear safety chains with brooches. Are they meant to be seen, or hidden away behind the brooch? I'm considering putting a little piece of fabric or some other material behind the brooch to stop it pulling on the garment. Is this usual? What do people use for this?
I am a confirmed brooch wearer, as was my mother. I don't wear necklaces often and find brooches add something different to my outfits. Plus, they're a nice conversation piece.
Hi, thanks for a lovely & informative video! I do have a question… how do you secure a brooch on thin fabric, like silk? Many times the brooches weigh down the fabric. Also, how do you protect the fabric from pin holes, again, especially thin fabrics like silk? Thanks so much! Hugs & kisses😘🤗
I’m glad you liked it. I use a MagnaPin for my heavier brooches or when the fabric is more delicate. Here’s a link to the video where I talk about what it is and how to use it. ua-cam.com/video/qMusacVNdGQ/v-deo.html&si=0Ie-9ZRc3s0kU2f1

I have a very large antique brooch from swede-finnish orgin, silver ornament with white small stones and a green stone in middle. How do i wear a large rektanular brooch?
I really enjoyed this video! I find that brooches add so much personality to any outfit. Do you have any suggestions about wearing a brooch on lightweight blouse? Sometimes I find that the brooch is heavy and pulls on the fabric. I haven't found a solution yet!
Yes I do! I actually mention this in my other brooch video. I use a Magna Pin. It's a small magnet that you stick the pin through and secure it, then you just use the magnet back to secure your brooch to your garment. It's an amazing little invention. magnapin.com
To put them more often I will have to enlarge my collection....😃 I only have broochs for most of my coats. Do you use also necklaces when you wear them ?
It really depends on the brooch and the necklace. Of the three jewelry pieces I wear (earrings, necklace & brooch), I tend to wear two of the three. Very rarely do I wear all three at the same time. If any are larger/chunkier then I'll go with a smaller/lighter version of the other. I like to have one item be in the spotlight and the other accessories are the backup singers. I hope that makes sense.
The way you place brooches reminds me a lot of tattoo placement. Anything with eyes you typically face toward the center of the body, so it makes sense that some placements would feel wrong. I'm sure you subconsciously recognize this as someone who has tattoos.
I usually think that brooches are much more a winter style and I love to wear mine with cardigans or winter jackets or blazers... how could I wear them during summer? On a shirt and with jeans?
A brooch can be worn any time. I rarely wear jeans, but yes I’ve worn a brooch in a blouse with jeans. As long as the brooch is an appropriate style, why not?
Yes I do! I use a MagnaPin for all of my delicate fabrics or really heavy brooches. It's a small magnet that you attach to the pin of your brooch and then you just attache the magnet to your garment. It's brilliant. amzn.to/3rEZPMc
Hello Christine, I admire your dedication for THE BROOCH! Thank you for your show. I am, so into brooches too... And I have many of them as well. Why don't you talk less, and show us your brooches. You do more talking then anyone I know. I would like to know. I have seen other people wear brooches on left or right side. As a man I can't tell you how many brooches I have. I been collection for years. I lost on of my favorite pieces then the pieces came out of the vessel. Broke my heart, I would have a people I didn't know tell me how beautiful the pieces is. Miss it very much . Good luck with your collection. I still look for more at yard sales and at fea makers.
What a way to start off a conversation…by insulting me. Well done, good for you for getting right to the point. By the way I have two videos showing all of my brooches, this is not what this video is for.
Wow I know as a public now here in America we are to ONLY suppose to be positive and use "upbeat language" when talking and keep it very "liberal, we can't say our true feelings CAUSE WE WILL HURT SOMEONES FEELINGS AND MAKE THEM CRY" ...but I have a plethora of words I would love to call you after you absolutely offended her saying "you talk too much".......if she talks too much look up another damn video, just click off and search, why do you have to offend her when it's a free world to choose another similar video without watching all of her cameo wearing tips, and you say such horrid things about her....well guess what,,I have a propensity to use bad language and for you sir , you ARE AN ASS****.......
