Paimon wouldn't be so bad if she didn't speak for us ALL THE TIME. Have the traveler speak for themselves! In the recent event with Freminet, he starts opening up to the Traveler and talking about something important and he blushes then Paimon chimes in saying "HIS FACE IS TURNING RED!" Literally embarrassing the poor dude. I want characters to open up to us and have heartfelt conversations but Paimon and her lack of social awareness just ruins the moment. That's why my favorite moments in game are the character hangouts. You actually get to talk to these characters one on one without Paimon there. If she was written better to have more social awareness to know when to not speak and let the main character and other characters speak, she'd be hated a lot less.
you know sometimes I wonder if paimon would have worked as this sort of playful cheery protagonist in the game's dramatic plot, cause at this point paimon is the main character for me, at the very least she's a CHARACTER
In Furina's story quest Paimon just dove right in being abrasive to Furina (and to be fair traveler was fairly in on it too) and it was frustrating
damn :(@@alexia3552
One thing about Kazu though, while he indeed forgive Raiden bcs he knew at the end of the day his friend is the one who chose his grave, he doesn't deny the fact that he's very uncomfortable with her (ghost event) and would rather just not be close at all
Plus in Kazuha's voice lines about the Raiden Shogun says his resentment towards her is rooted from the vision hunt decree. "No one has the right to rob someone's hopes and dreams... Not even a god."
1) Paimon was less annoying pre-Inazuma because there was less of consequence for her to be tone deaf about.
2) I wish the quests from events were permanent: Keqing and Guoba for example needs to remain even if the game cuts/cycles the gameplay
Event story quests never returning is the DUMBEST thing a story-heavy game like Genshin could possibly have done. I'm frankly amazed such an otherwise well-managed game intentionally nukes their own content
I think what makes the aranara quest so bad is because it's not voiced. You it's clear that genshin put tons of time an energy into the quest so you'd think they'd voice it to bring more life into it.
The sad part its actually good that side quests are not voiced. Otherwise you should listen to Paimon even more.
Imagine playing fgo, the entire game is unvoiced
What makes that stupid quest so bad is the damned absence of the skip button.
@@Duhgel I definitely agree genshin needs a skip button. But more importantly they need to voice act quests that tend to be longer. Nobody wants to have to read hours of text in a game. If they can voice the archon and character quests it makes no sense why they can't voice a 1+ hour quest.
@@malkavian4120 unpopular opinion but I don't completely hate paimon or even her voice.. I more so hate how she was written in the context of genshin. Their are times when I genuinely don't mind paimon and even somewhat enjoy her comedic relief when she's not just telling you the same shit you literally just heard an npc tell you to do 3 seconds ago.
My biggest hot take is that I absolutely LOVED exploring the Desert region. I’m such a sucker for egyptian symbolism, that getting to explore King Deshret’s ruins brought me absolutely nothing but joy. The Golden Slumber world quest became one of my favorites for this reason, not just for the exploration but the storyline and new mechanics as well.
I will say that exploring all of Sumeru and the Desert to 100% before the new map update was quite an interesting experience. I felt like I had to genuinely memorize all of the ruins to remember which door opened where and which elevator went to where. It made it feel so immersive because for the first time you couldn’t rely on the map to tell you where you were underground, you could only see the surface. Thus solely relying on your memory of the HUGE underground areas. Completely understand how frustrating that could be to a casual player at the time and not a deranged player like I am lmao.
I feel like if the map update came out sooner or even with the desert, it wouldn’t of gotten so hated on 💔💔
ppl really hate the desert for no reason like imo its one of the best regions to explore
Based af
yeah my hot take is that the desert is waaaaay better to explore than the chasm, both underground and overground. I saw nothing wrong with the desert and even found it kinda pretty underground. The chasm is dark with too many fucking high walls and ugly scafflolding. Being in a mine/big hole is not appealing at all.
@@kammie225 true, desert is way better than chasm
I 100% agree. I've always been a sucker for desert/Egyptian themes (why the Sand Kingdom in Mario Odyssey and Ares Island in Sonic Frontiers are some of my favorite places to explore), so I was excited when I heard that Sumeru had a desert area to explore. The underground sections are cool af, and it shows that Mihoyo really know their craft when designing areas.
Fischls sad backstory completely defines her, if you got turned off reading it because of whatever else that's on you, doesn't mean it's not there or isn't fleshed out in a ways that clicks in a deep way for many.
It does feel like he didn't really read her backstory to be honest, there was a whole section of an event dedicated to her and her past, yet he says it doesn't define her character? It doesn't make sense. Bad take.
@@FischlSimp Yeah personally would bargain they didn't really read it because they didn't like her chuuni trope if i had to guess. There are some people who just blindly hate it for whatever reason.
He then goes off about how Sucrose is super well defined as a sad story, and Sucrose had struggles but by comparison its kind of light if anything, she at least had some friends and some parents that were there for her more times then not. I'm not saying losing contact with old friends isn't sad but by comparison to literally having no friends and parents so absent that Fischl ended up practically being raised in and by the local library isn't even on the same level.
Huge L of a take if you ask me. I think some people blindly get turned off by chuuni's one part because some of the time in some series its just a meme trope, but more importantly they have never met someone like that irl, as someone who didn't just know but was one of those people (albeit male, rarer and expresses a bit different, but definitely happens) Fischl's backstory is very well written.
The only thing I’ll say regarding that moronic “All lolis are pedo-bait” take is this:
He who screams the loudest has the most to hide.
Absolutely, like how can someone see Klee or Yaoyao or Nahida and the first thing they can think is "yikes , this cute little character is here to satisfy some pedos !" , like wtf ?! Unless they themselves are the kind of person who thinks about doing weird things to child characters and now barking to hide their shame or guilt .
mihoyo wouldn't make them if it wasn't to advertise to those unsavoury types, it's pretty sad but part of the reason they exist is to appeal to that demographic.
edit: nowhere was I actively upset by the inclusion of lolis from my initial statement, I don't really care for their inclusion xd. but it should be obvious that mihoyo has ulterior motives for adding characters like Klee that isn't just 'she is a cute kid, oh my god what a sweetheart'. it is a game targeted at an east Asian market, its disingenuous to think they aren't making lolis with the purpose of trying to have as broad of an appeal to that market as possible, which obviously includes people attracted to children. mihoyo is a company that's foremost concern is profit, if that means putting out a character that might appeal to a certain demographic, they'll do it. the in game model type for lolis is called lolis, not 'female child', not 'small child', *LOLI*. mihoyo is more than aware of what they are doing, the fact it even needs to be said should be a red flag in of itself. but I guess even remotely insinuating a company would do such a thing makes me a pedophile (and I'm aware that even making this is going to invite more 'you must be a pedophile' comments, just know it's pretty gross to assume someone likes kids because they don't think mihoyo's intentions are pure lol)
@@vantagehgc3499 What kind of skeletons are in your closet?
@@fencerderio9814 Maybe the person is speaking from their experience of being in the said demographic and getting some kindof high from it? You never know! 🤷♀️
@@vantagehgc3499 Do you also think people have children to satisfy pedophiles ? Because same logic can be applied to real life children, also do pedophiles only go after female children not male children? Then why hoyoverse hasn't made male version to satisfy them? If people object having child characters in a video game because it attracts those mentally sick people then people should stop having kids for the same reason too .
In the Raiden case I think that the biggest mistake hoyo did with her is having a lot of her story as a text rather than actually shown to us, breaking the biggest story rule ‘show don’t tell’. Genshin has a community that still has some people ask where it was shown that the traveler is the fourth descender when Nahida LITERALLY told us in a voiced line 😂 so the people that read Raiden’s entire story don’t agree with incomplete takes from people (whose fault is not their own for not reading extra text). Also the shogun in real life did mess up shit and people still respected him, politics are complex especially when it involves two entities Ei, and the puppet. When your god that has completely fought for her people through countless monstrosities for centuries has a 1-2 year period of vision decree which isn’t clear the consequences of it nor everyone is affected by it, what weights more in people’s minds ?
Exactly one bad thing doesn't rules out all the good she did for her people, also vision hunt decree hurt like some people who xared about their ambition more than themselves they don't know what letting go is, hell kuki and itto lost rheir visions and didn't have any side effects. Also her apologizing to her people will make her people more anxious as it can be taken as a context that she is sorry that she decided to trust humans in the first place, also about the war with watatsumi, Ei didn't know about it she know about vision hunt decree. She didn't know fatui was selling delusions, also fatui expreminented on wanderer thats how they knew how to manipulate the puppet. And PTSD does affect your actions. People hate raiden cause she was not written properly, they love zhongli when he actually instigated a archon level threat on his own nation but its overlooked because why not he has a deep voice and what not.
Even so, if we were to look at Fontaine's story, that makes no sense as to why the people reacted in that way.
Furina led her people for hundreds of years and it was pretty peaceful for Fontaine, even with the prophecy of the flooding and sure, she didn't slay any gods but the same didn't apply to Fontaine. Where people eventually got angry at their own god.
Not to mention, it's unrealistic that the people wouldn't get angry at the Raiden Shogun for messing things up when people irl so easily lose their trust in their government after their leader messes up big time.
@@ei-chan8929That not how people works, you cannot except them to not have hard feeling or distrust for her just because they used to believe she was "nice". And it was not a simple mistake, it was a war. I can understand for the people from Narukami because they does'nt really feel the influence of the war and their island is by far the best place to live in, but the other ?!
People have died and hve been hurted, and you think that she does'nt have to apologize because it can lead to missunderstanding ? That can lead people to believe that she was wrong to trust them ? BS especially when in her voice line about Thoma, she meditates the idea to let her puppet apologize to him instead of her. And when the traveller scold her for that, her only response was : "Okay, fine. I'll give it some more thought."
She litteraly says she is aware about the fatui's action in the archon quest. And when the traveller mention the fact it hurts her people, she ignores that. Plus, it contradicts your previous arguments, why would her peoples believe that Ei was wrong to trust when the fatui manipulate them ?
For Wanderer, i agree. The Fatui was mostly to blame. She was right to let him live and be free.
PTSD does'nt justify everything. You would think the woman who lost her sister to an unwanted war would, i don't know... Stop the war she indulged on or at least intervene when her contry she promised to protect is crumbleling ?
@@primsy the war was started by watatsumi, secondly Raiden didn't go to watatsumi to collect vision. The island where the furnace was and yashiori island was invaded first by watatsumi which kind of threw the point of apology out of the window , the only people affected were that of watatsumi which again were the aggressor.
And the voice like you mentioned she said she would think about it because the traveller and his non existent personality views asked her to.
Also Thoma line is a outlier cause there not a single other line except that one that suggests she entertains the idea of apology.
She was aware that fatui was present in Inazuma and helping both sides but was not aware of the fact that delusions were being distributed cause the kujo head hid it and. Neither did we tell her.
In every way people die, it can also be said because kokomi entertained the idea of war people died and she should apologise for actually starting a war instead of asking a god to protect themselves from aggression.
The tell don't show is usually the way a lot of Gacha told us what that character had gone through usually due to budget restraint or more technical issues of how to put it naturally.
To the person who said that we've gotten new regions in Star Rail already, I'd like to point out that we actually HAVENT. The Xienshou (or however you spell it) was there in 1.0. We've gotten EXPANSIONS to regions a la sumeru's desert, dragonspine, watatsumi, etc, but not a whole new region.
The Raiden being a villain take was one I have no opinions about other than that it was kinda clear from the get-go that this'd be the case. I never explained myself in that thread, as I forgot.
But the Fatui were set up to be the villains of this story, our previous encounters with the Archons have literally all involved the Fatui being on some evil shit.
We got Signora in Mondstadt, Childe in Liyue, and they tossed Scaramouche at us in Inazuma.
My sole issue is HOW they handled it, not that she became a "good guy".
I'm quite fine with the concept of her character and motives and I'm actually a big fan of her lore. She's still probably my favorite archon for that. It's all very understandable imo and I do think some people interpret her actions through the lens of a human when she is not that.
Unfortunately they, imo, completely failed to execute the writing required to portray those things properly. The pacing of Inazuma gets brought up a lot along with the lack of focus on what matters from moment to moment and both of these are very valid critiques. I would add that they really should have told us more about Makoto and her role during the cataclysm way earlier than they did. I think if we knew why Ei is the way she is as we contend with her and see the effects her ideology has had on her nation, the actual nuances of that lore and her mindset would have provided so much more support for the narrative. Instead we're left with a poorly told story about a character that struck many as confusing, if not outright bad which makes her change of heart fall massively short for a lot of players.
I do think that when people judge her actions, it's important to remember that vision holders comprise an incredibly small portion of the general population. If you combine that with the idea that some regular people hold resentment towards allogenes, it becomes easier to see how many Inazumans seemed ok with what was happening even if it was wrong from our point of view.
@@teyvatato2148 kinda whack when furina/nahida has sad backstory people be like: oh sweetie dont cry, but when it comes to raiden people just dont care.
Also i think nahida and furina is more relatable/easy to sympathize for is because they suffer on their own and people pity them, while raiden lost her own connections/relationships which people dont know about ( we only know a tiny bit about her friends from tidbits and her trailer). Inazuma suffered so sumeru can thrive, both narrative maturing and time wise (the ayaka drought)
@@MefoWho its more about how they handle their sad and tragic backstory. keep doing the right thing to do (or, roughly, stay suffered), or throw a temper tantrum and close yourself in your own safe place called euthymia bs while tell the fucking AI to rule your entire nation
@@naufalsadewa223 It's a different in culture too. Literally irl japan where the monarchy is god. It is bad so we demolished it and have her learnt about doing what the people want, about living isnt just existing. Even when you've lost so much you can still "live". We saw furina suffered through 500 years, and did the same with nahida, but all raiden's tragic back story is literally 30s recap of who know how many years she suffered ? She does care for the people whos open up to her regardless of her position, like the tea oldman and the dango milk shop owner. People have their own way to cope but Raiden can't even cope the way she want because she has responsibilities.
@@MefoWho agree, but so then every archon have responsibility dude. And sorry to make a misconseption, what i meant to say i just dont like how hoyo make her kinda get away with it without actually showing it. instead its just we were going on a date and taking a picture of her. No remorse on her character showed directly and it seems like "well, its the robot fault, not me, im just here in my own space" kinda thing 😁
Genshin's Combat system should be worked upon. Instead of adding little baby's first minigame every new event update. It's so frustrating to see such a good system being wasted cuz devs would rather add Prop Hunt copy, Mario Party shenanigans, Photo taking bs, etc...
I feel like the players are being treated as a joke.
Just add boss rush, dungeon content, something for us to work with...
Damn I would love a boss rush mode. The current abyss is much like it if the first half wasn't a boring hydro check stall...
@@blubblub3786 ikr? It's quite sad.
Genshin's combat system needs something that compliments it.
Co-op is one such system that helps but there's shockingly little to do Co-Op. (Bosses for level up materials and a bit of exploration where the visitor can do very little)
We have the Abyss but it's mostly just a DPS check and not a challenging environment that tests your ability. A co-op abyss ladder (at least styled after it) without the DPS constraints and with more emphasis on teamwork etc. would be great.
@@Unethical.FandubsGames I played around with the idea of a co-op abyss, and it was unironically quite fun. I even recorded 3 times as I updated the domain.
@Unethical.Dodgson It's also based off dodging, since you cannot bring healers or shielders on the domain. Only counter type shields, one tap shields, or self healing.
I hated the Raiden Shogun one. So many overdramatized statements "years"??? Bro it's been 1 year of the vision hunt decree not like 10 💀
that already invalidated the whole thing for me because I could immediately tell where it was gonna go.
Quick Edit: My own hot take: Throwing the word 'Genocide' around willy nilly isn't very cool
Um actually it was 4
Soul's extremely biased when it comes to Raiden, I like him and his content but a ton of his takes on her and her story are terrible and sometimes outright wrong
I kind of just tune him out whenever he talks about her now because it's clear he's not actually interested in listening to opposing takes on her thus there's really no argument or debate to be had
@@KlausHargreaves_xZhongli said it was 1
@@diveblonde I think it was a book that said four idk Genshin contradicts itself sometimes
@@diveblonde wait nvm that’s when she stopped giving visions
The problem with Raiden is that we got to see Venti and Zhongli, FIRST. They were buddies to us, pals, and at least in Zhongli's case, they had a plausible reason for what they were doing. It was out of love for his people that he tested them, to see if they needed him. He was 100 percent in control, and more than willing to step in if things went south. He did this as he knew that eventually even he couldn't resist Erosion, and might just straight up die or something...then Liyue would be left without any warning and it would be a civil war/bloodbath. He wanted a transition that put Liyue firmly in the hands of a stable, self sustaining future...where the people didn't rely on the god of their region to do all of the thinking and heavy lifting for them. So for us, the players, to see two examples of GOOD gods, yes, Venti was, when he was able to, helpful to Mondstadt from the shadows and clearly cared about them. He literally says "what good is freedom if demanded by a god?"...but he still helped out with Durin, the Lawrence tyranny, and other things.
Ei, on the other hand, after seeing two benevolent gods acting more like bros than gods, was the real deal. She was powerful. She was absolute. She didn't fuck around. She was a god and you were going to listen to her word otherwise you'd get vaporized. She had power, awe, and authority. She was the PERFECT example of a GOD. She didn't have time to fuck around with the opinions of dirty plebs. She knew what was best for you, and dammit, you were going to follow HER ideal. She was exactly what people think of when you think of a "God" like Olympus style or something. Callous, reckless, overpowering, domineering. No shits given.
It's made even worse, because we see Nahida after her, and we have not one, two, but THREE examples of humble gods willing to be bros or a sis with their people. It makes Ei look like the odd one out, when it's Zhongli, Nahida, and Venti who are the odd ones out! Yes, the Archons won the archon war for being the most amiable to humans, that was one of the stipulations, but clearly the Heavenly Principles understood that Ei would be fit enough to rule. They didn't have an issue with it otherwise they would have stepped in after her sister died.
We then see Furina...this is the PERFECT example to why Ei was fine: Furina is mocked and not taken seriously WHEN SHE TRIED TO DO THE NAHIDA approach with her people. They LITERALLY doubted that she was a god or that an ascension had taken place. She literally had to put on the boisterous over the top persona because THAT WAS WHAT THE PEOPLE EXPECTED of her.
Clearly, humans are more leaning toward the Ei types of gods vs the Nahida types. They clearly expect gods to not give a shit about what humans want and do what's best in their opinion.
I think that's WHY Ei is a well written charcter. We keep trying to put HUMAN morality on the LITERAL incarnation of lightning. She's not human. Putting human standards on a literal manifestation of lightning is...strange thinking to say the least.
Genshin community on their way to have the most antarctic takes known to man
hot take : traveler has no personality whatsoever, im not saying its bad to be introverted, but its bad when traveler lacks personality so much that they cant say no or we have to bring paimon with us to crack jokes, also, it feels like traveler is deadly overlooked in any conversation, the dialog option you choose changes nothing, its ignored 99% of the time.
It's still extremely weird to me how hoyo seems to go out of their way to make the traveler a silent character where literally everyone else, (even literally NPC) talks. Yet the traveler who's essentially the MC doesn't talk
@@Sun.ce.214 indeed, its almost pathetic, if you played hsr you realise how bad it actually is, in comparison to the trailblazer the traveler is horribly written
I dont think has something about being introvert but yeah, most of the time (90%) fells like traveler lacks of interesting lines and they use paimon to say the same thing over and over again.
The worst part is that lumine is literally shown to be able to talk and in their voicelines they actually do get to show personality…yet they never do this in the literal archon quests?? It's so weird
Ye but now you just wrong....
Paimon is actually painful. I wanted to like her but I've basically given up. I'm sure her final role will be important and probably improve her standing with players but she is obnoxious and more importantly, pretty damn rude sometimes.
She was pretty awful during Furina's story quest. She acted like she knew nothing about what Furina went through despite being one of the few people who knows the truth. The traveler wasn't much better tbh.
Imo, the problem isn’t that raiden is forgiven, the problem is inazuma in general, cuz the archon quest was reeeeally rushed.
They weren’t given enough time , and the story was bad.
But at the same time, I am partly thankful that inazuma was rushed, because that led to sumeru and fontaine being given enough time to develop the ideas it wanted to explore.
But that’s again thankful from a perspective of “better learn early, rather than mess up way later when it matters more” kind of viewpoint.
I do agree with the if u explore the region u get about 2 multis worth of summons but the problem with that is that its just isnt worth it especially considering the fact that the time u put into exploring the region can lead to 2 4 stars that arent even good
My hot take, the desert of Sumeru was more enjoyable to explore than the forest. I dispise forest Sumeru.
I appreciate what they were doing, and I do enjoy the aesthetic and color palette of the forest more, but good God triversing it even above ground was a nightmare, let alone underground. Especially pre multilayer map. I'll admit the puzzles and quest lock in the desert was worse, but general maneuvering in the forest was an absolute nightmare. Plus finding and helping all the aranara. There was just too many.
It was to the point that it, even as someone who's 100%ing everything with the interactive map, I left Sumeru at, like, 49% explored until Fontaine came out, and 100% Fontaine almost instantly, mostly without the interactive map at that. That plus the multilayer map was the only reason I regained the motivation brute force Sumeru exploration. Once I was done with the forest, I felt so relieved, and it felt seamless to finish the desert.
24:45 okay maybe I missed something but like... when did Raiden commit genocide on ANYONE???
Ikr, nowadays the word 'genocide' is starting to get overused. Genocide is indeed a terrible crime, but that doesn't mean that any form of crime done by a leader can be considered an act of genocide. Heck, Ei and the puppet shogun hadn't even thought of wiping off Watatsumi islanders and vision holders from the face of Tevyat, and now they're suddenly branded guilty of genocidal attempt.
Late because I just came up with it while listening to the dragonspine best subregion section and my only "hot take" was "Raiden bad", but man I really like the desert areas in Sumeru, yeah it overstayed it's welcome but overall I loved exploring it, the flat terrain and ilusion puzzles felt really unique, plus in open world games it's always either "big city" or "big green field" so a giant desert to explore felt so unique to me. I wish it had a mechanic similar to dragonspine where you would slowly fucking die if you didn't found any water sources or weren't affecter by hydro or something.
The only part of fortress of meropide take I agree with it's that it was too long. Besides that the quest being "a walking simulator" is the entire point. People living there literally have no other option than work, walk around, talk with each other and go to the fighting club. Yeah living there you will hear something something fishy or get to know about tabu rules but it won't be a common occurrence - living in an enclosed space won't have much action and dynamics especially when living in such a structured place the fortress is. I agree that it's too long and it's the worst part of the Fontaine archon quest but it isn't by any means bad - it just shows the characteristics of living in Fortress of Meropide
Yeah. They could’ve added some fight scenes like when we met Childe’s gang from that prison we could’ve fought them and then realized afterwards that they were part of Childe’s gang that he formed in the prison.
I really find it insane that there are people who don't play Genshin for the story, like it's not an MMO where you have raids or farming to do or LoL/roguelikes where you just go again and again, it's an exploration story game. It's like the people who complain that FFXIV story is too long, it's a bloody Story Driven MMO, it's designed that way. I really need someone to explain what they like about the game if they don't care about the story/lore?
The core gameplay loop. At least the part of it where I get to kick someones teeth in with my roided up waifus and husbandos. Character building and special character mechanics and interactions also scratch an itch somewhere deep in my brain. Also this game has farming to do, its just great that I can plow through it in 5-10 min.
My current enjoyment comes from speedrunning domains to see how fast i can get. Coming up with my own little meta and rotations around the characters I have to optimize for the quickest clear is really fun. And since theres so many different domains and only so much resin in a day it hasn't grown old yet.
You do have to farm constantly (artifacts) btw, and the reason that most people don't like the story is because it's so arduously long and presented so badly. If genshin's story was presented better, people would like it way more. For example, fontaine's archon quest. I haven't met a single person who hated that quest after completing it. It felt more like a television series than anything and it was the only quest I was able to complete in one sitting and not have to force myself to complete. There's a reason why everybody hates aranara. It wasnt voiced, it was long, boring, and just reading miles of text over and over or at least spamming the space key.
Some people also just don't care for story in general, they're interested in combat. That's the reason asking for a skip button is so commonly requested. Some care about the lore, but hate how genshin presents it, which is why genshin specific theory channels are so popular. And story is not the main focus of genshin? It's a part of genshin, but literally the only reason people roll for characters is if they like their design, their particular character story, or their combat capabilities.
Calling artefact farming, well farming, is quite a stretch, you're not playing Lineage 2 farming Adena 20 hours a day, it's a 5 minutes daily process, and it feels horrible because you're gated. That aside, IDK what you're talking about "literally the only reason people roll for characters ...." I roll for characters based on their personality, and that's what I get from the story, with design being secondary and gameplay tertiary, I don't give a fk about how strong they are, so it's not a great use of "literally". I can see the criticism on the story but I do believe it's a matter of taste, ya know whatever floats your boat. @@deronawuah2136
Genshin is a gacha, we play for its gameplay and endgame content. Story is secondary.
Grindy and/or badly written quests are crap, obviously. People play for whatever reason and they are all valid, that being said, I particularly and legitimately don't understand what reason there is to continuously play Genshin if they don't enjoyi the main story at least. What else is there? 4 levels of the spiral abyss (which is s**** as it is) every 2 weeks? Genshin combat is great but there is no mechanics to use it on once you are AR55+, exploration is heavily linked to story even if not 100% and you can grind the world in a week, coop is bs gimmick used only when you can't do a domain/boss on your own. I began playing the game cos a friend pressured me, I like the anime aesthetics so I gave it a go and basically skipped most of Mondstadt cos I wasn't interested in the EN va (Paimon was annoying) and couldn't be bothered reading the JP to understand everything. Got to Liyue and regretted straightaway when I realised it was a story driven game. I like many (if not all) aspects of this game, but I don't think I would have stuck to it for so long without the story so I does confuse me when someone say they don't like the story and would skip everything... whatelse is there?
co op is fun because genshin's a pretty big sandbox, plus you can literally make ur teapot an obstacle course. just because you don't use it to have fun with people doesn't mean it doesn't happen idk :/
They should keep event that are story relevant like unreconciled stars, albedos dragonspine storys, and stuff like that.
But one thing they should add is the ability to get event past weapons wether thats putting then in a shop or something to earn them.

this video was actually really entertaining, i loved hearing what the community has to say about genshin about these various takes and i loved hearing your guys' thoughts and you guys like really going into the topic. i dont really find a lot of people who play genshin and whenever i do irl i get really excited because im really passionate about genshin and i love it a lot. so finding this video of a group of friends talking about genshin and a lot of different things about it in an hour was so fun to watch. a lot of my friends call me a genshin "geek," so thats how ill describe myself lol. also with these hot takes, i also liked to think of my own opinion for each of things. this is gonna be kind of cringe but it was kind of like i was in there with you guys, giving my opinion, agreeing with people, disagreeing, etc. it was like a podcast but i also enjoyed watching the gameplay too. i liked watching the playstyle and just the combat. that team looks pretty fun and i wanna try it out, after i get furina of course lol. but yeah this video was really fun! new sub :)
I also agree with you @MidnightBloomILikeTurtlesHehe. I thoroughly enjoyed this type of discussion with different opinions and views of the game. Thanks to @Soul_of_an_Artist and co for this. Hope to see more.
The only problem with a skip button is that if that gets put in the game the reading comprehension of this god-forsaken fandom will get infinitely worse 💀💀💀
i was the guy at the end with the shitty mic saying i dont want a skip button because of this exact reason lol
Why do you care about strangers on the Internet? XD
I want skip button because I want an alt account where I can skip the story 💀
@@30ZeooeZ03 fair enough lol
I fail to see the correlation. If I'm not paying attention to story I'm not going to pay attention regardless. Them not having a skip button doesn't magically make me wanna pay attention.

Genshin does make more than enough money to fund better updates. Also, you don't get 10 five stars worth of primogens by exploring, a full region from a single update might get you 10 or 20 wishes (which is trash considering it takes forever to explore).
However, I do agree that 2 regions per year is too much, it's okay the way it is, but those 4.3, 4.5, 4.7 and 4.8 updates need to be filled with other things (like better events, more story quests that are important to the main story, some engame content...)
For someone who crunched a whole pity to get a homa for neuvilette and another 67 for furina, i think you get more than 10-20 wishes from a full region.
@@MefoWho from the whole map of 4.1, including all quests, achievements, chests, hydroculus, the fountain drops... you'd get a total of 4080 gems, which is a bit more than 25 wishes. All of that takes you some great amount of hours to do, which isn't worth tbh because it really is a small reward
@@mordogonofastora3421 I mean, its not worth it for you if you just swipe for the pulls sure, but it does add up for sure. Pretty sure that 10 5* thingy is just a figure of speech in the moment lol.
The fund for the game part, money isnt the only factor contribute to developing a game. As they discussed, and especially about the creative side of game development (Game design, story scripts, music...), throwing money into more staffs will just make more problem. I'm sure they're trying their hardest and we will get QoL updates soon
Hot take: In terms of sexualizing characters. Its 99.99% the community and about .01% Hoyoverse doing it. I can name the number of times Hoyoverse has sexualized their characters on my hand. the one quest with Ying'er, that one comment from the shrine maiden while preparing to go down into Enkanomiya and that one NPC in the Jade Chamber that REALLY loves Ningguang. That's it as far as I know. That's literally it.
My worst take, which I don't think any of my friends bar one agree
Yae Miko is a terrible person, and her actions make her on par as evil as Raiden herself - mainly due to how personal her evil deeds are
- She is extremely abusive towards Gorou. She forces him to crossdress which he dislikes and even chases him to do so.
- That abuse is shown again with Kuki Shinobu, where for her the concept of being a shrine maiden is a firm "no" and an escape from her past. And yet she forces her to be a shrine maiden as a "pay back" going as far as to show OTHERS (traveller) how Shinobu looked as a shrine maiden, something she despised. It's on level with people forcing Furina to act even though she set a boundary that she won't.
- She had a chance to wake up Raiden Shogun throughout the entire war, which she didn't. Her presence literally was the thing that turned the tides in the battle in Euthymia. Why did she use the traveller? She's lazy and doesn't actually care.
- She doesn't care about citizens of Inazuma, where in her quest she's just honestly lazy and disinterested in helping a person who is suffering (And once stuff started to be revealed, she made the traveller do all her dirty work).
While people speak of the impersonal crimes of Ei, they pretend like Yae Miko is just a quirky mommy. No. She is an abuser. Stop pretending she is a good person.
I agree with this take even as a yae liker
Like the stuff she does to gorou is just terrible
yeah, i get the feeling that many people connect a character’s moral compass with the quality of their writing, so they always push the narrative that their favourites are good people. but here’s the thing: you dont have to be good as a person to be good as a character, in fact id say its the bad qualities of a character that often move their writing forward due to the conflict and dilemmas they provide. if they were perfect and fully content, there would be nothing to talk about, nothing to adress. im a huge fan of characters like yae and kaeya who have pretty much spelled out their ambiguous morality to the fandom and yet people are always trying to infantilize them or use their deep rooted trauma as an excuse rather than an explanation. yae miko is a bad person and thats exactly why i love her. its what makes her yae miko.
Absolutely. She's insufferable and I always get an uncomfortable feeling when she appears. I hate that none of this is addressed in game. But most people are too focused on... other things to think about it.
I wanna remind everyone both raiden and her decided to kick out newborn Scara to live by himself.
@@Soundwave1900 Actually Ei proposed letting Scaramouche go out to forge his own life, rejecting Miko's proposal to kill Scaramouche. Ei was too soft to let him die, and too practical to appoint him to the life of the Raiden Shogun knowing that he couldn't be the unfeeling puppet that the Shogun needed to be. I really wish Scara fans looked at this situation with more nuance lmao.
Gotta say, even though Paimon can be a pain sometimes, I don't have much of a problem with her, partially because it's gotten better with time as well. I do however think she needs to be the way that she is. Since MC is a (mostly) silent protagonist, not only does she have to take the job of speaking for us, but she has to be this annoying, food obsessed and oblivious person, because she contrasts the traveler. Since Traveler is silent, the personality we get for them is by the way they contrast Paimon most of the time.
We associate the dialogue options related to getting Mora for example to Paimon, because that way Traveler can do the right thing and help out of the goodness of their heart.
It's an annoying way a lot of the time for sure, but since MC is meant to be a self insert (most of the time anyway), we need a companion like Paimon.
The fact that she is around 24/7 also contributes to her being annoying through over exposure, but that is a problem for any character.
Honestly I don’t understand why they give so many lines to Paimon but only a few to the Traveler. Like why cant traveler talk more and paimon can talk a little less.
I get that Dragonspine isn't everyone's favorite region, and I respected that. The problem I have is when people hate it only because of the freeze meter. The freezing meter is a pain in the a* for newcomers, but later on it doesn't come of that big of on issue (healers can tank though the freeze meter). The place is optional so I can't get the all the hate people feel about this region
yeah, when i did dragonspine, my only pyro that wouldn't just get one-tapped was Xinyan...
shit was straight ass
I'm the guy that commented about releasing new regions twice a year. You are right, thinking about it my take doesn't make a lot of sense.
I shouldn't have commented while sleep deprived.
At least I can be happy that it was useful for the video.
Nah, they have insane amounts of money, they can do whatever they want
@@mordogonofastora3421 I think money has it's limits, and it's not like everything is getting poured into the game anyway
I mean I disagreed with the releasing regions twice a year part, but I agreed with the rest of it. I think they could at least have SOME quests be permanent like the one on Dragonspine that everyone talks about which I never got to play btw.
if 1 person can build a house in 100 days, Can 100 people build a house in 1 day?
8:55 i agree with this. sumeru made me feel that I'm an adventurer fr, same thing with Dragonspine. best places ever
27:43 I also agree with this, my fav side quest. i read the whole dialogue and cried when it finished. i like how sumeru exploration was locked and that the aranara were meant to help us with it. i will miss everything about sumeru :"(
The treasure compass should work the same way the updated Oculi finder does and you should be able to convert ascension boss mats like we can do with all of the other materials.
Personally I think the best improvement they could add to quests is a skip button and to stop locking parts of the map behind world quests
I love the fact that furina is just exempt from everything in this video, despite having similar troupes to the rest of genshin she was writen in a way that makes her work far better then any of the others before her
The biggest thing I think is the fact that they actively let players hate her for the first two version of fontaine without trying to change opinions on her, they left crumbs of what she was really like yes but they didnt say it either, and kept it ambiguous till the very end, and unlike other tragic characters in genshin they didnt shove her sad backstory in a story quest or in some side event that not everyone would experience, they straight up made us go through 30-50 minutes of her pain, and her resolve, there isnt a possible way people could not understand her after that and for most not feel like shit afterwards, its undeniable and it shows in not just her sales but how many people are willing to spend so much on her for her, not because shes hot, not because shes good (even though she is insane) but purely for her, and the amount of content creators ive seen stop to make a video essay just about her and fontaine in general is honestly insane
The only complaint I have and I think everyone in general have is how others in game treat her, it is honestly sad how her story quest went, it really put her second through the entire quest, and paimon was even more unlikeable then usual, what most people wanted and I agree with was the fact it should have focused on her and characters acknowledging her actions and what she did for fontaine, and overall apologizing for what theyve done to her, especially since this is the part of her character they threw into fluff and hidden dialogue that you have to go out of your way to find, it should have been shown in her story quest instead, like her interactions with clorinde or neuv, or what the other archons think of her, showing her, her worth
But yea digital character in a game, Still amazingly made and probably the most well written character in genshin period
I think we players have the right to be mad in the first acts at her and the same reason why the people of Poisson are mad at her.
She actively didn't do anything to help while her people suffered, and just excused herself from every situation, she couldn't say anything about her identity yeah, but she could have made some emergency rescue plans and other humanly possible stuff with her political power. At least she is aware of what she could have done and didn't do and her guilt is her price to pay. But you don't need deity powers to do what Arlechino and Wriothesley did for the people of Fontaine.

they can be permanent, and some should be. of course no EVERY one but the important/really good in depth lore feels wasted.
the scaramouche and albedo quests being prime examples. they’ve proven they can do this by making the chasm quest with xiao, yelan, yanfei itto and shinobu permanent- what’s to stop them from doing it with others?
I feel like the recent freminet event would be a good candidate to be permanant. there’s some that make sense being limited like lantern rite, windblume, the original fungi (cough pokemon), and that darshan event (since it was canonly just a festival), the irodori festival, etc. anything that’s e like a festival that happens at certain times ingame definitely should stay limited time. stuff like that klee theme park event with the witches and the other world- honestly anything with a whole new area to explore that gets veto’d afterwards is kind of a waste to the area. similar with the summer event with kazuha xinyan fish l etc- I wasn’t in genshin back then so take my opinions of the summer event w a grin of salt but still,
the summer event had a lot of lore about fischl being Amy, and kazuha’s backstory with the Tomo seelie and stuff (I think this was the summer event? I watched a vid of the irodori one so ik it’s not that, but) and that kind of lore shouldn’t be limited time, if it’s important lore about a haracter. ones that focus on npc lore if fair though. know I said earlier I’d like the thelxie event to be permanent but that’s a good example of this
the one with klee offered less about the character lore but was definitely good lore for the hexenxircle, the whole theme park thing however yes I can see being better as limited but there should be a way to access the hexenxircle lore without the event
all in all I think it’s a waste to spend so much time and money hiring writers voice actors and animators all for something that will only be available for two weeks- so yeah they have a fair point on that part if we’re honest
also for the thing about it being harder for mobile- yes, but they’re still adding new things with story quests maps etc. it’s currently about 30gb on my ipad, 80gb or more on pc and playstation. they can handle to keep a few quests in (evident again by the xiao etc chasm quest)
tbh my favorite area of Genshin is the third part of the desert
it has a mechanic that used in different puzzles that very attached to the area itself and its lore + it was a small area, but it had a really enjoyable sense of exploration that wasn't there in other parts of the desert also The pari quest has like two concepts that felt new to Genshin
I liked it a lot and I think it's the best region to explore if you're new to Genshin

Am I true Aranara quest fan now? I loved the culmination so much and I wish we had more storylines like this, although Im sure it'd be way more fun if we got dedicated "Aranara compass" or something like that, because it was a pain crossing out every Aranara I already got before knowing that they will matter that much.
The finale has such a cool fight, that does suffer from infinite healing provided by Arama, but the music, overall theme and the visuals of the fight make it so much fun

In my opinion it´s kinda good that the genshin fighting system is easy und not that hard to master. It makes the game accesible to people who for example: dont (usualy) play video games and perhaps other people who find games where fighting is included are too stressful etc.
I actually like that the Anemo Treasure Compass doesn't work in Dragonspine. The leylines that it uses are all messed up thanks to the Skyfrost Nail's debris killing the Frostbearing Tree.
Ey I made it in the vid. I knew it was going to be certainly a take of all time so I knew I was gonna get shit lmfao. Still a member regardless haha shoutout to me not being on the member screen though 😂 it’s cause the take was bad isn’t it
I think characters having sad story to explain their actions is okay. I enjoy villains who have reasons to be the way they are. It gives them character depth.
What I didn't like with Ei's arc is they didn't even try to build it up, for example we didn't even know Ei had a twin sister or she was her kagemusha before everything in Inazuma concluded. We fought her, she lost then she trauma dumped us and suddenly we were okay with her and I say this as someone that likes Ei. She has one of the most interesting backstory in Genshin for me but it was so terribly executed that I understand people only see her as a dictator who has no love for her people.

those are some great and definitely memorable moments but saying they’re better than ANYTHING after? nah thats just objectively wrong lmao. the focalors thing was one of he best written so far (I haven’t even done the quest just seen a shit ton of spoilers but I can alretell it’s great. and al Fonte eta before the most recent a just.. it felt ke wa5hinf a move with lyneys trial and the ress lore was insane)
I HEAVILY disagree with that last take, the story has so much lore, and tends to build on it so much, and it gives the game so much depth. Sure, some if it just exists as a driver to get us to a new place, and world quests can suck and be kind of useless sometimes, but I do believe the story is important. I do also believe we should get a skip button though, as someone with multiple accounts, and for people who hate quests.
Ayato isn't mid... Neuvalette and Childe just happen to have one of the BEST teams in the entire game.

I actually think inazuma had a great story, for the most part.. until raiden was redeemed. I liked the story with kazuha mostly but honestly that could just be my bias or kazuha/heizou/tomo talking and my love for japan.
but generally the story wasn’t bad until they tried to redeem raiden and waifu her.. and kokomis story quest. kokomis one of my favourite female characters and I hate how they waifu’d her- same with ayaka (minus the fav fem chr part. I’m meh on her) honestly yae was the only one without what felt like a date quest in inazuma. these characters are so much more than just waifu’s, but all their story and development was dwindled down to that. heck, everyone thinks ayaka is a yandere when she’s nothing like that?? honestly even if she DID have a crush on ANYON she wouldn’t do anything about it because she puts her position as the..himegimi?? something something first.
given the meme stemmed from the eternal banner which yeah haha funny but so many people genuinely think she’s a yandere :(
35:15 You guys made a awesome point about it. Despite all the problems and profits, Genshin is naturally a expensive as fuck game with a scope that can't be rushed if they want to sell well (and they try rushing things anyway with Inazuma as proof of that). One thing is constantly making quests for a game that is a JRPG where you travel through corridors or a Action RPG game where the fights happen on rooms or corridors and dialog is made through Visual Novel style scenes... Another thing us making a open world game, with action combat, some relatively complex environmental interaction and animated and dubbed cutscenes.
Guys, games are naturally expensive to make, big games are way more expensive and a big game that has to receive constant content updates is hell on earth and I won't be surprised if Hoyo employees start showing signs of burnout. But they could make the story less slow-paced. 4 years of story and it feels that almost nothing happened.
I actually had the opposite experience with Paimon
At first, I liked her, her voice was fine to listen to, and while she doesn't understand some things happening in the main story quests, she still does a fine job as a companion and guide. But then, we get to the later chapters and Paimon starts to get annoying having her voice changed to be higher pitched (seriously go back and listen to the voice she has at the beginning of the game in the Mondstadt section and listen to her voice in later updates, the difference is night and day), she talks way too much, and just becomes more annoying overall.
So yeah, Paimon's annoying, and I hope one day we get a character that either a, tells Paimon to shut up or b, kill the damn annoying flying creature already.
I guess her voice got higher because the lower voice was too hard for her voice actor to maintain.
This reminds me of what they did to Barbara's voice. And even though most of us liked the old version, they said it wasn't intended, so they changed it.
High pitched voices kill me tbh.
I agree though, about piamons voice being pretty nice to listen to in the beginning.
Nah she's just fine, but haters gonna hate anyway
I love Paimon but I will always appreciate Cyno and Dehya telling her to shut up 💀
Im the lore player who would quit genshin the second they would stop indulging in quests that expand the world.
The desert region take is an actual hot take and as someone who 100%ed the desert regions before 4.0 map update I agree with that person. But I also agree that it is a hot take. I don't enjoy the underwater region that much but the desert felt challenging enough for me to keep playing

About Genshin quest the worst thing is: the best moments of the history is just sitting and talking about it or in cryptic books.
They talk about an Archon War, but we do not play or see anything about it. They talk about Raiden Shogun past, but we only see a 30 secs anime sequence showing it.
One of the reason why I do not hype up Fontaine Arc so much is that Focalors plan was to send a flying Dragon to undo the curse. In order for Focalors do that she has to be 100% sure that the Heavenly Principles would not do anything, even our simbling states that the reason why Celestia did not do anything is because they are sleeping, not because her claim that "she deceived the heavenly principles" Furina act was not solely change Neuvellete heart, but to deceive the heavely principles(...)
About Raiden Shogun acts it becomes clear to me that no one really cares or knows about the threat of the Primordial One. For the sake of mystery Raiden Shogun in her mind seems bad, but imagine after all Inazuma events the Heavely Principles just drop another pillar killing all of those who rebells against eternity... how would you feel about it? BEcause at this point no one knew the Primordial One was sleeping. She seems bad only because the PO did not acted yet or our actions has no negative effects like the Fontaine act. The sleeping PO is the worst excuse ever to justify Fontaine's arc.
I think silent protagonists works better in games like persona where there is a defined end and some of your choices does indeed have an effect on the story and characters.
Or in mobile games like Nikkie ( you can even say the commander has a defined personality in this one), PGR & Blue Archive since there's no model for them and your mostly just an observer.
The Traveler is the MC and have a clear model and a goal yet have little to no agency in their actions.
The only time I've ever enjoyed them is when we could see what they were thinking about and Paimon wasn't their mouth piece ( that that time they were trying to solve what happened to the wanderer when he erased himself ).
In regards to Raiden being a villain is that I remember hearing the ccp told Hoyo something along the lines of: they cant overthrow the analogue of the Japanese government in their video game. Up until that point the story had been about humanity ruling themselves and the gods stepping down. Ever since its been about putting gods or dragons in power.
Authoritarian government influence seems sus but that said I dont remember where I heard that or how accurate it is, but everyone could see jarring and suddenly they pivoted.
The 2 highest up voted hot takes are as lukewarm as the kitchen sink water that's been there for 7 years. This means the rest are gonna be even better
Soul discussing and even ranting about genshin impact hot takes? Oh yeah, this is going to be good 🍿👀
Furina wasn't the same with raiden. She was a product of her people. She acted how her people wanted her to act. She didnt even fuck up her own country. The deluge wasnt of her making. She kept the peace all the while trying to fix something she can't ever hope to fix seeing as she doesn't even have a modicum of raw power. Her people didnt forgive her since there was nothing to forgive. Not a raiden nor a furina simp but just had to clarify that. Take note that I love raiden more than furina and got her c2. Just couldn't let this stand.
And she willingly stepped down knowing that her role is over.
i was only referring to the level of tone deafness from Fruinas story Quest and Raiden's being the same which is what i said in the video which you would know if you where actually listening.
Raiden commits unspeakable acts upon her people and then the travaler goes on a date with her LIKE NOTHING HAPPENED
Furina is let off duty from her 500 years of mental anguish and then travaler drags her into a Opera LIKE NOTHING HAPPENED
so sit the hell back down, you have nothing to stand for lmao
The worst part about exploring is how dependent 100% is on shrines. I got every single chest in 4.0 fontaine and one section was still 95% so i had to explore 4.2 fontaine (4.1 was already 100%) for enough sigils for a shrine key, which thankfully got me to 100%. This normally isnt an issue, but I havent offered a single hydroculus, which locked me out of a few keys. I still have 216 hydroculi chilling in my inventory (i want to offer them all at once). So if it werent for 4.2, I dont how i wouldve gotten that region to 100% without waiting for potentially weeks for a new region.
If Paimon didn't exist in the story will be great, but hoyo would have to voice the traveller in every dialog they are in. We know they can't do that because of "Self insert" MC they are trying to pull in Genshin and Starrail. I would give Railrail this over Genshin March/Pom Pom are leagues better than Paimon will ever be
If Im being honest, the traveler would've still been quiet regardless of paimon being in the story or not
Genshin is not self insert. It was literally in the story kinda😅
Paimon does serve a purpose in the story... We will find it soon, later in story.
My take as used to be Genshin player is that Genshin should at least have the event story quests in game instead of removing it, it's annoying that fact some of those event story quests have important and interesting lore and as someone who mostly likes to play games for lore and storytelling it sucks that I need a video explaining it or watch someone playing those event story quests. For the record I'm not interested in the story of Genshin and only started to actually think it's great in Fontaine but at least put them as an option for people who are interested in the story and want more lore about the world and characters to play it. Especially for the characters because god knows they need it with how little time most of them get.
What is with the Genshin community and shipping everyone with everything. People are shipping Furina with Arlecchino, which is bizarre after Arlecchino nearly assassinates Furina, and Furina is actively afraid of Arlecchino. Also the Aether harem, he literally has little say in the game and has little personality. Shipping is fine if in moderation and plausible sense.
yeah I hate the traveller harem (probably cuz I dislike any kind of harem)

Love Dragon Spine. I wish I had more to do there because it's so darn beautiful.
I agree that new players won't know the pain of pre-underground map Genshin. Sumeru exploration was a chore. The pyramids were cool enough, but finding everything was... oof. It was painful.
If dragonspine is annoying for players, imagine if a real person inside the story would gauge it. It lives up to the expectations that it is. It's a terrifying sub region, where the remains of adventurers and people are scattered.
It's also a testament to how freaking monstrous traveler is in the story, exploring dragonspine to 100% and live to tell the tale.
The only thing that it lacks is that it's so removed from teyvat when it's literally there, no research about it in akademiya, no fontainian would pitch a gadget to explore it safely, no liyuean talks about the rich silver ore to trade despite the harsh environment, while there are people flocking to chasm where both sub regions are rumored to be terrifying, heck, even the knights don't have a permanent outpost there except for albedo, only the adventurers guild.
I would say the worst part of genshin isn't the story quests, it's the lack of combat opportunities despite the robust fighting mechanics that they designed into the game. It's as if the game is over designed and overcompensated the combat system when combat takes up like 20% of the overall playtime options
I don't hate Raiden but she is my biggest disappointment. In my dream Inazuma story the civil war could be between Ei and Makoto and Ei may care for the people but is brutal and almost cruel in her methods resents Makoto for one reason or another, idk how it would be set up but it would be so cool to have these 2 gods with an extremely complicated history and IMO villains can sell well so her character assassination was unnecessary just look at star rail's Kafka. I love you Ei but girl you are the biggest disappointment in this game for me...
If they fix the Spiral Abyss content to reward you higher rare artifacts instead of regular materials and primos from the commission quests.
This could've made the combat more detrimental.
My hot take is that i want character with facial hair. Like Hohenheim from FMA or something.
Damn the last one is first time I've truly disagreed this much with one of your opinions Soul 😂
"If you remove the fight with Scaramouche Sumeru gets much worse."
Considering what a slog the weekly is, I think that'd be an acceptable loss. Also, character quests especially are ads for the characters that you sit through for less than one roll worth of Primogems.
The only hot take I have is that paimon is overhated
Yes, I do get she talks too much and some people just wanna listen to the story without a 5 year old toddler inturrupting
but I actually do enjoy paimon being there, Even if she can be annoying sometimes. Her repeating what other people already said is quite helpful for slow people like me who don't get what's going on right away, So although some people don't like her. I do think she is a nice companion to have and the moments she has with the traveler is wholesome
Also, recent story quest rlly shows how much people need paimon to overexplain 💀
The pyramids were the best parts of Sumeru, and yes, I ABSOLUTELY know the pain of pre-underground map-Teyvat.
It's my understanding that Mihoyo doesn't let you play as decidedly villain characters, ergo, villain Raiden=no playabler Raiden. That's a good point about Furina, though I guess T&P were fine with her because they witnessed her backstory and likely felt sorry for her. It's more the people's "nothing" I'm struggling with, since T&P aren't native to and have zero to do with Fontaine other than being the heroes they are.
To me, the biggest reason for playing the game is exploration/treasure puzzle reward system. I did like most of the Fontaine arc, the end boss of Liyue and Raiden's Archon cutscenes, like eveybody else, it seems, but while I agree that quests are generally tedious in the game - voiced or not - I disagree they're an incentive to bring you places. They could be, and obviously also started off many without unlocking the region they'll take me to, but I'm usually one to run across everywhere first, activating all the statues and then start quests, and by that time I've seen and been rewarded much because I take care of challenges and unlock chests as I discover them. That said, if there were no story, I likely would not play the game for as long as I have, since to me, there'd be nothing I care to work towards. That's why didn't play games like these ("end-game"-oriented with no more story content) after the story is done.
I appreciate the one guy in your group Soul who frequently chooses the other side of the takes... idk his name sorry. Cause he makes it so your conversation does not become one big echo chamber of similar takes (albeit well-founded) 😂 Good vid!
after 2 reuploads.. finally
For me the only character that has the paimon role and its well made is Mimir from gow. And what its even worse for me is that she has more personality than the MC. I think I didnt hate her as much cause I started playing on the Klee banner and she was way more annoying, to the point that I had to pause the game so she could shut up when idling.
42:26 the problem is with genshin is that 80% of the book is boring as npc conversations
Hot Take; Fontaine sucked.
It copied Nahida's and Raiden's stories in a carbon copy of the "League of Legends: Arcane" world, had the WORST Arcs that threw out all the engaging elements of the game for drawn out side-quest-like stories far too reliant on dialogue and "Fetch Quests", had plot twists most of the community saw a mile away, had a gosh-awful set-up for a new story element from the world-ending whale that was totally uncalled for and purposeless, and loses any and every sense of threat and danger since everyone knows playable characters turn out just fine and oh-so likeable no matter happens which completely ruins one of the most essential elements of good stories; ACTUAL villains and ACTUAL sense of danger and loss.
I do kinda disagree about the keeping events out thing (I play on mobile, btw). Like yeah some events are totally filler and it's absolutely fine to leave those out because they aren't important to genshin's story. I draw the line at the unreconciled stars type stuff. If you're putting ESSENTIAL information into time limited content, a good 80% of the playerbase will have no idea what's happening. You can just leave in the story and take out the primos like they did with the chasm event. (The one with yelan, xiao, itto, and yanfei, I forgot what they called it) Yes, you can just look up the event if you want to know, but you shouldn't HAVE TO. A game should tell it's story through the game and nothing else, you shouldn't need reference material to understand major plot points.
How the fuck did I miss your community post man, I was gonna have some fun there lol
I have a hate-love relationship with paimon oh my god
In some comment section I will have a comment saying “I hate paimon I wish she could shut up” then on other comment sections im like “I love paimon”
My opinion on paimon keeps fluctuating
THE ARANARA ONE IS ABSOLUTELY CORRECT i still havent finished it yet technically (because i am so easily distracted in game😞) but its interesting and they are baby I want to have a little ary nary irl 🥺
Third time’s the charm, Soul?
I am too weak to have a friend group like this
I like raiden, but she is a bad written character.she commits several crimes that make her citizens lives miserable, and she wasn’t punished?sure, she fixed the rules but she didn’t have a redemption arc whatsoever!oh, and everyone in the game just…Forgave her?they just, forgot about all of the crimes and misery that she led apon them, and they just forgot about it?
Don’t get me wrong, I like evil characters but they treated raiden as though she is a good person, when she’s not. Also, people make the excuses that she just thought she was doing the right thing, but that doesn’t change the fact that she did bad things, and baisically did nothing to redeem herself, all while still being forgiven and treated like a true leader of a nation.
Again, evil characters are good, but raiden/ei isn’t supposed to be evil, she’s supposed to be a leader who puts their nation first, not themselves.since she isn’t supposed to be evil, why does she have so many qualities that make her a bad person?
But then again, the Inazuma quest is kinda….well…not good.
My personal hot take:I hate Kayea.he’s ugly AF and so annoying.this is just my opinion, though
12:40 It's fine to have an opinion and all but this guy is just plain wrong.
Kazuha "forgiving" the Raiden Shogun is akin to you forgiving a Tornado for killing a family of 3 that didn't evacuate. Not only was his friend killed because he wanted to test himself against the Musou no Hito Tachi but it was the upholding of the law that led to his friend dying at the hands of the Raiden Shogun.
That and Gods in Genshin are already shown to not be like humans. They don't think in the same ways that humans do. They are all also shown to be very much anti-celestia and anti heavenly principles. Which is the whole point of Raiden Shogun arc. I feel like they made Ei a little TOO amicable towards the traveller and too fast but keeping her as an antagonist just wasn't possible in this story.
I understand his "I didn't like how this character became good" take but his reasoning behind it is like "I don't like water because I almost choked on a glass of water once".
Is it not surprising that nobody mentioned that ei and the shogun are two different characters i me ei is guilty of not stopping the shogun but because she does have the fact that the most important people in her life died thus making her fear death the most as a reason she doesn't stop the shogun.
Dragonspine is my favorite region gameplay wise. Exploring it for the first time was the most fun I've ever had in Genshin. It was also the most challenging but that made it the most engaging too. I want more areas like it. (But Enkanomiya is my favorite region for every other reason besides gameplay)
What I don't get about why Hoyo decided they needed to waifu Raiden, is that evil characters sell too. Look how many people simped like crazy for La Signora and wanted to pull her. Same thing with Scaramouche. Childe to and extent too.
I'm so torn on the Aranara questline. I like the idea. I like the plot. I like how ambitious they were with it. BUT they didn't execute it well. It really overstayed it's welcome because all of the side stuff dragged on for far too long and none of it was voice acted, making it 10x worse. It should have been fully voiced and included multiple playable characters. (Including Rana and maybe a playable Aranara?) Maybe it should have been an interlude archon quest or even part of the main Sumeru archon quest. Like a separate part that you do either before or after you finish the current Sumeru archon quest.
I believe having it this way would somewhat justify locking much of the exploration behind it.
Genshin should keep event QUESTS but NO REWARDS and let us download and uninstall them like we do with languages. I see no reason as to why they can't do this besides FOMO manipulation.
I don't think quests are the WORST part of the game, but I do agree with everything the comment said about why they suck. In MY opinion, the worst part of Genshin is that it's a mobile game. The fact that it's on mobile holds back the game SO MUCH for a variety of different reasons.
In term of inazuma peeps forgiving the shogun after reading some of her lore and who was she inspired by i could see why the inazuma people decide to forgive the shogun despite how much of a shitty character she is (with very few exception). From what i read, she is inspired by a dictator from the sengoku era and during that era, people were taught about how great their own leader is and they could do no wrong or they are doing this for their own good. Back to shogun, if we compare that to the inazuma situation we can see why people (not the resistance) chose to forgive the shogun since they are technically brainwash to think that raiden could not do anything wrong.
But still think her character is poorly written and executed and overall a dogshit character. :DD
also, paimon voice is not as annoying in cn or jp, its just the shitty direction they took for eng (coming from a cn OV user)
The raiden thing is interesting cause on one note shes a warrior she never neded to run her nation makoto was the leader and ei was the sword she never had the time to learn how to run a nation ger friends died makoto died and then isolated herself in her plane of euthimya for 500 years she knows jack shi* about running a nation and i also agree that the first story quest wasent that good it jumped over the tyrant leader and war that happend 5 seconds ago but the 2d story quest was so much better she made a effort to lead her people she changed her way of thinking and tge fight with the puppet was very well done they should have released tge 2d story first then the 1st but that wouldent really work either since in the first story quest its ei learning the little diffrences and shaking her ideals bit by bit
I also find desert ruins more fun than underwater. Underwater is fun for 5 min and every puzzle there is just bad.
Genshin needs more endgame combat-heavy content. Abyss is a start and they just left it at that and never added anything else :\ I'm really into teambuilding and I want to do more with it than beat my head against 3-starring abyss 11-3.
33:00 This take is the reason why the newer generations of pokemon games, feels like lost potential.
You can see all the list of problem Scarlett and Violet has, and it could've been fixed if they took more time into making the game.
Like imagine a New region where the story is bad, the archon's design looks "ok" and the quest and mechanics looks rushed.
1. Enjoyed Dragonspine, thought it was really unique. 2. liked swimming more 3. Wasn't Raiden two different personas? Ei (in her realm) & the Shogun outside, maintaining her role 4. Paimon is less annoying now 5. People should like a character based on well written they are, despite background (but a sad background helps make them more compelling) 6. I Hated the Aranara quest line 7. Inazuma story was ok, outside of every scene involving raiden 8. Half agree, Im fine with 1 new region per year, 2 would be too much, but I do like past events stay in game, like Starrail does, data size would not be large, as all events use the existing world (except for the summer zones) 9. Haha, knew someone would bring that up 10. world-building 11. yeah, a good chunk of the story presentation could be much better
If Genshin's combat system is "overstated" because it's never really a challenge, then I'd argue that Dragonspine's mechanics are the same. Y'all said yourselves that it's a non-issue, so what does it matter how unique it is?
Thanks Soul, I also tried out the team you play and love it, it's really cool and a lot of fun. But I still have to get my sucrose to at least to level 80 :D
I finally got my Furina C2 it was more of a lucky "COINCIDENCE" with 21 pulls on C2.
Greetings from Austria. 😇

They hated Jesus because he told them the truth.
The real problem in Genshin Impact really isn't how the game is. If anything its player feedback. Literally the game is like never heard much from yhe fanbases because the fan just eat everything.
Now this isn't a hit takes...
Like no adding more features won't make Genshin Impact better... Like did they not olay any mobile MMO games? That's exactly what will happen!
Too much work to do... Too little rewards because you will be STRETCHING the rewards...
That's what you want??? Horrible takes!!!
