I'm really happy that the reactions to this symphony are so positive. Many years ago when I first came across the name of Gade there were almost no recordings easily available (This was in the days of the vinyl LP) and in any case Gade was often described somewhat disparagingly as a follower of Mendelssohn and Schumann. Well, yes, there is the influence of Mendelssohn and Schumann, but I remember when I first heard this recording of the 4th symphony. My reaction was something on the order of "You've got to be kidding me! This guy is a 'second-rater'? You people are out of your minds! This is powerful music." I've been hooked on Niels Wilhelm ever since. Thank God I'm not alone.
The melodies and inventive colors of the first movement is some of the most gorgeous music I've ever heard.
Love it! Its one of my favorite symphonys. The first and last movement are quite impressive.
There isn't a more perfectly constructed, concise, beautiful symphony in the whole world than THIS one!

Symphony #4 in Bb, op. 20 (1850)/Niels Gade (1817-1890). Gade wrote 8 symphonies.
Lovely! FYI Andante Con Moto is at 7:32, Scherzo at 13:52 and Finale at 16:30.
This is a little gem!
The next project of the orchestra I'm playing in.
Could be the most beautiful, COMPACT symphony ever written! (along with Reinecke's 1st)
Man!
More beautiful than Beethoven!
