Not to be dramatic or anything but listening to how horrible these books are and reading some myself has done more to motivate me to write than any person has ever motivated me to create
43:22 not to alert any letter agencies in my country or anything but it makes no sense that a futuristic world would have difficulty acquiring gunpowder. You can make it from gardening supplies in Home Depot since it’s just the combination of minerals and charcoal. Anyone with basic knowledge in this type of either chemistry, garden supply, household products, or access to google could know this. Similar to Lightlark, she has no idea what she’s writing about in terms of goods and their availability, and her world building makes no sense. Edit: similarly, many household products can become dangerous when mixed together, so it’s important to read the labels and know your stuff when dealing with chemicals, you never know what could happen (except if someone IS in fact a chemist, maybe they would)
I would like to point out that authors don't get a say in the cover designs, but I do agree with the other points about the book being churned out too quickly to deadlines instead of working on their craft to make an excellent product
I think a good word for schwammig can be fuzzy, if you're talking about memories. Other than that, vague, nonspecific, unclear and loose could work if you're describing something having a lack of detail. And of course, if you're describing an actual sponge or squishy material, that word is spongy :D everytime I watch one of your reviews I feel kind of glad I don't bother with YA
Literally. So many books nowadays have such cool premises, but fall super flat because they all want to appeal to a TikTok audience who run on short-form content and tropes meaning that creativity is limited and you'll make choices that don't benefit the overall quality for the sake of getting popular. Edit: Not to mention how usually TikTok audiences run on frequent uploads from creators, which I feel definitely shows through in books. As various TikTok music artists have spoken about, unless you're constantly posting updates you won't be successful. You can't just run away into the woods to work on your craft anymore because you've got to post that TikTok video or take that sponsorship. I think the same goes for authors.
Soo I thought the book was gonna be a standalone and all throughout I thought "not much left, soon all will be explained" - damn was I dissapointed. Random question in no particular orders: Why don't they have eye scanners, at least for the rich? Why did they have to be named Anton and August? It took me a few chapters to realize these are different people.. Why does no one question her royal eyes after it is revealed that she is a peasant girl?? Why did August need her specifically, and why not just get her into the palace? Why was the choice between mission and love hyped up the whole book and then she gets both??
If everyone is super poor the royal family get food and stuff from another country? No one there work or do anything? No one fishing or hunt some animals? It's confusing.
I don't know if you're confused about the developed photo because "why?" or because of a language thing, but your reaction just made me feel old as hell because I didn't even question it. 💀
The person who had the body occupied die? I didn't understand this part. The "heroes" from this story occupied ppl bodies without consent? If someone random get pregnant and have no idea wtf happen? This seems weird to me, they want to save the poor ppl but at same time they took the bodies, idk if i like it.

The premise sounds soooo good, but your review shows how messy the final result was 😬
