    Wow. That's a pretty high poly chain. Pretty cool tho, thanks! But I'm sticking to mid poly or even go low on mine. Cheers!

    your probly gonna get tired of my questions haha but when you have time i was curious how you were able to rotate the chain before you added gravity. I had to combine the chain to be able to rotate it so they would not all spin? otherwise the material is still turning out very awesome.

      Hi Leon,
      Sorry for the late reply.
      Did you select the whole chain and then hit Ctrl G ?
      If the chain elements are grouped you should be able to rotate.
      Regards,
      Mike

    im having a big problem with this tutorial, after gravity is setup and every thing and i do the animation, the chain floats down but nothing moves, the individual chains stay compleatly straight, they dont move up or down or anything, the whole thing looks super glued together, how do i make each chain link a separate object?

    • @MHTutorials3D
      @MHTutorials3D  9 років тому

      The Great Realm Of Bacon You probably combined all chain segments into one mesh. As it then is one object it would bounce. Make sure that every chain link is a separate object.Select one of them and make sure that only one turns green. If they all turn green then it is one mesh. If not then check your dynamics settings

    i followed step by step, but my chain falls like a stiff board and not like a chain after adding the active rigid body and the gravity.

    • @cstyles419
      @cstyles419 6 років тому +1

      actually nevermind; I solved it. Theres a big difference between selecting them all by dragging a box and selecting the group. But now, i have to figure why everytime I do the animation part, Maya freezes.

    • @munjeanand
      @munjeanand 5 років тому

      @@cstyles419 I'm selecting the group. But still, it didn't work for me.

    do control D and shift D do the same thing?

    • @MHTutorials3D
      @MHTutorials3D  9 років тому +3

      Wil Hughes Ctrl+D means "copy the selected object(s)"
      When you hit "Shift+D" it does it again including the last moved distance over X,Y or Z

    I'd just recommend getting a popper stopper, the lip smacking / swallong sounds get a little hard to listen to.

    hey, i just saw this tutorial and tried doing this particular thing with a same technique but somehow i am not able to get this animation correct. The chain is landing rigidly onto the plain without any further animation into it..... please help me resolve this issue.

    • @MHTutorials3D
      @MHTutorials3D  9 років тому

      Hi Abhijeet,
      Make sure that the link are not combined into one mesh. Each chain link should be a separate polygon object.
      Just to make sure select MESH in your top menu and then SEPARATE MESH. Make sure everything is selected in object mode before you do this.
      Mike

      Hi Schaden36,
      You probably combined all chain segments into one mesh. As it then is one object it would bounce.
