One thing you didn't "specifically" call out... it is NOT a spin up heavy. Like the 50cal, when you need to snap off a shot (tagging, etc), you get at least 1 shot right away. That is a big plus for both Gatling and 50.
The Gatling Gun was how I downed my first Scorchbeast back in the day, and what got me hooked on heavy guns. The Gatling will always hold a special place in my heart!
Same
Same story here. I've moved on from heavies but I still have my first ever (decently rolled) gatling gun. QE50DR. The third is garbage but I will never get rid of this gun. Sentimental and all. Heck, it still makes a great and ammo efficient tagger 😊
RR/Fixer/Handmade.
The Gatling Gun is the best beginner Heavy Weapon. Even contends with endgame ones
This thing is perfect in combination with foundations vengeance. Use the gatling for normal enemies, and the minigun for bosses/legendaries
Spot on analysis, Wiggle. The TSE gatling is my daily driver for my heavy gunner build. No spin up and great for tagging groups
I drop a thousand of rounds regularly because I get so much ammo!
Just sell in your vendor for 1 each, easy profit
Ammo convertor
My go to heavy. I roll with either a two-shot explosive or anti-armor explosive. Sooo much ammo all over the place.
I rolled a gat with aristocrat and explosive and love it. I named it Aristogat.
It's so much better for ammo than my fuel weapons
Bloodied/explosive with prime receiver and bloodied PA build doing like 350dmg a shot and never thinking about crafting ammo thats pretty wild
Gatling gun is more a useful tool than a 'best' weapon. Its excellent at picking off weaker targets at a distance and building up ammo for the Minigun. Minigun can then handle the tougher foes. I run a heavy/demo build with an AAE Gatling gun and TSE Minigun, couldn't ask for more from both weapons.
Run this weapon with all my heavy gun builds. It is more than just ammo efficient it breaks alot less often in my opion over other heavy guns.
I can’t say I agree.. I roll my eyes whenever I see anyone using this gun and especially at events. I can kill 4-5 super mutants with my fixer before the guy next to me can kill 1 using the gatling. I had a BE15FR one that I put in my vendor for 15K and it sat for two weeks before someone bought it.
Edit: There is nothing wrong with the gat for regular every day solo use.. and you can make any weapon work with the correct build.. but the gat is insanely inefficient overall compared to other heavies and it’s ammo efficiency doesn’t offset its other inefficiencies in my opinion. I recommend the gauss mini if you’re a heavy build. That or the plasma caster.
Love this gun. Can't wait to pick up one of the skins to give it a better sight.
Gatling gun is so good because it feeds my other ammo hungry guns. Run it for a day when I'm doing normal stuff and the next I can convert all the spare 5mm to 308 or 50 cal when I'm doing stuff with my buds. Helps I managed to roll one with explosive and executioner's.
I love my vampire gatling gun. I try to only carry 3,000 rounds and keep 10,000 in reserve. The rest I put in my vendor for 1 cap.
I have a bffr15, and it's my bloodied pa build workhorse. Can take on anything short of earl or sbq.
Sure, it doesn't have the dps of a q5025 fixer or the flash of a gauss mini with grenadier, but it's my old reliable.
Nuka-Launcher laughing in the corner like:
Have fun hunting your loot when you're launching all their bodies to the iss
I was using the Gatling plasma but it was soooo inaccurate so I switched to this.. I'm lvl 100
Gattling may not be the most "fun" or dps
But man is it old reliable as a general purpose heavy gun
Ive seen a lot of ppl running around with it recently
Very nice! I have been sleeping on this weapon. Gonna give it a whirl!
Update: Went to bank, found I had a Quad Gatling Gun and I set out with 100 rounds (out of 1000). Killed a few scorched who donated more rounds and it was on! Returned with 2k rounds. Gonna build/find another and put a better legendary (though not having to reload is nice!)
Plasma caster is better
Plasma caster is the best
How do u get the Appalachian version of this gun
While the gatling gun is my favorite heavy weapon, it is NOT the best. Yes you're correct about it being great for beginners due to it's amazing ammo economy and reliability to unalive whatever you need it to at any range. But i only use it as a backup weapon for the most part, since i feel as though my holy fire gets me through any content alot more reliably and hastily and i mean much much more. I just with the gatling was a bit faster, feels horrendous if you dont have speedy receiver and speedy legendary effect.
The ideal legendary attributes of choice for the Gatling gun are: vampire, faster fire rate and cheaper VATS.
Of course the mod that increases Faster Fire Rate is important to that.
That's YOUR opinion. Just because you say it is doesn't mean it is.
😅😆😆😆😅
I have a rail gun that has 4X the damage and 3X the fire rate
Good luck with it man and as long has you have fun !
I mean... sure... its cool. But is slow as FUCK to use in mob situations. Even in boss situations. Easily pref my flamethrower/creamator heavy build.
The +50 crit mod is far superior to explosive mod
What kind of psychopath plays in 3rd person 🤢
The gatling gun is my sidearm 💪
Edit:its literally impossible to run out of ammo as long as you're actually killing enemies
"The gatling gun is my sidearm 💪" But also my main and third😅
2 shot explosive battling gun is crazy , 2 shot faster fire rate is also nice , bloodied , explosive also amazing on this weapon
Gatling gun is so reliable when your core runs out if it has the right modifiers
Elaborate
This gun is insanely good with VATS. I have a bloodied/weapon speed/reduced AP it is really really good. I got lucky. Someone had in their vendor for 4k 😂
Yep, pair with Holy Fire for crowd control.
Exactly! Holy Fire paired with a Vampire Gatling makes for an excellent loadout.
Or use holy fire with literally anything else
I use this as my main weapon for every day stuff. Its extremely generous with ammo return and i use the excess ammo for my converter to turn into ammo for weapons i use for boss damage
Maybe I'll respec my 10mm character to a heavy gunner, this looks more fun. Anything but a 4th stealth commando was sort of the point anyway, lol
Just respec and become the heavy gunner you want to see in the world. I have a build that is sneaky, and I have a build that is the exact opposite of sneaky. One uses silicenced weapons, and sneak bonuses. The other uses power armor and vampiric heavy guns. I am terrifying as both builds. They both come in handy for different things.
You've got 5 characters, try something different for each.
I have
Stealth commando
Heavy pa
Gunslinger pistol build
Unarmed melee
Public nuisance, fatman/ missile user.
Gives you a chance to mess around with different things.
On another profile I run a
Vats crits heavy no pa
Commando
Archer
Pvp heavy pa
I prefer the plasma caster, usually doing damage in the 400's, but the Gat is an excellent leveling heavy weapon due to both damage and ammo economy. I find it's best to use the Gat in 3rd person like you're doing, as 1st person aiming sucks. The Gat used to be EXTRA good a few years ago where the Gat would shoot as fast as you could click the fire button. On PC you'd bind fire to the mouse wheel and just spray rounds.
I use to use that gun when it was bugged and since it got patched I just lost the pleasure of using it. Back then you would keep the firing trigger pressed and each time you'd press the aim trigger a shot would fire. That meant you could shoot that gun as fast as you want.
I’m so glad someone remembers that I built my hole build around that had explosive on my Gatling gun got my guy to lvl 200 and then it got patch and I’ve been struggling to find my next weapon sense
to me this gun is ok, nothing crazy and the attack speed drives me crazy haha, amazing video but i'm sticking with my 50 cal, gattling plasma, gauss minigun that i've been lucky to roll with bloodied, attack speed in all 3 of them, insane damage and speed from all 3 of them (the 50 cal is the weakest but hits for 160 per hit and the GP hits for 240 per hit)
I think the front ring sight reduces AP.
for me it just gets in way when aiming, I go without.
I agree that this is a great heavy gun but I have a stalkers plasma caster with vats accuracy that blows this away for range & damage and the ammo reclamation is phenomenal.
I have a Vampires with FF. I almost never die and ammo is unlimited just from looting it.
all around its best. i cant keep ammo for my plasma gatling.
I mained the gatling in nuclear winter and sunk w after w.
This gun is great for ammo but ehhh for dmg
I don't use this gun often, but i have one with anti armor, aim damage, faster reload. It's good. Could definitely use something better on the last star, but at least faster reload isn't useless. Nice thing about having a skin on it is that it reduces the giant size of the drum mag. Btw the thunder pipe skin was on a scoreboard, but has since been in the atom shop a few times
Wiggles, thanks for doing all these videos about the various weapons as it really gets me to try different ones and see what’s possible. I too prefer full health builds so incredibly helpful to me.
The Appalachian thunder pipe paint is still available from the Atomic shop if you go through Bethesda support, I bought it recently.
The best roll for this weapon are either bloodied or antiarmor with ffr and speedy receiver, anything else just slowmo gun.
I like aim damage. FFR depends on the base fire rate, so you don't get much for it with this. You only get like 5 more fire rate. Explosive or aim damage are way better
No it isn't. The heavy gun I use is the best heavy gun!!!
My first heavy was a vampires explosive gatling gun. It was awesome.
Can you get explosive on gatling guns? That'd be very fun!
Yes.
Ive used a gatling gun for a while now
If i remember right it has both faster fire rate and armor penetration and that thing is terrifying especially with headshots ♡
Just a few is all it needs. Yeah its way slower than a minigun but i think it has a MUCH greater damage output in the long run
I got all the mods, currently using +25% damage against scorched +25% weapon speed and ultracite ammo
I called it scorched killer
I like shooting in first person to do the glitch shot for even faster fire rate. Even more deadlier with far flung fireworks legendary card
They patched that. You can't make it shoot faster anymore
looks and sounds great but dps wise its 3x slower then Holy Fire, which is the REAL best heavy
Counter Argument: Two Shot Fatman with 18 consecutive triggers of Quick Hands.
But seriously, Grand Finale.
Two shot MIRV fatman. ;)
Good old gatling gun will never let you down. I loved it when i was using it. It was the best gun i had for a long time for many reasons. But now i have a bloodied plasma caster with +15ap per kill and -25% ap cost, calibrated reciever and sniper barrel. It is absolutely ridiculous, 2 hits per super mutant and i get a lot of shots with vats. I feel bad sometimes because im regularly stealing kills from people several times my level. I think i got insanely lucky with that roll and I'll probably not get that lucky again for a long time
I have a fully modded version of this with vampiric, light weight, and 250 damage resist while reloading. It weighs 2lbs, and 3k ammo weight another two or three lbs with perks. I keep it in my back pocket for emergency situations because one day I was fighting Earl, and I had ammo still, but both my main guns went through 100 percent of their durability. Now, if that happens, I got the good old backup vampire gat.
It's not you're aiming bro. All the guns fire from the gun off center towards the bottom left of the reticle in third person. It's been a problem since oblivion that only Skyrim modders have solved the problem in a roundabout way to my knowledge.
It's a very boring gun and i hate it's ROF at short range and it's DPS is questionable at best. It is a good gun for early game but that's it.
this gun is alright, but when you get a bloodied +25% faster fire rate version it’s really crazy. pair that with the speedy receiver and you have an amazing weapon
It's fun if you have a faster fire rate one and it's also extremely ammo efficient but there's many heavy gun that are way better like the 50 cal
Love this gun. Have a bloody explosive. Miss the aiming glitch.
Been trying to roll a vampire one but no luck yet.
I do gatling gun for normal mobbing but switch to mini gun for boss so I never actually have trouble with ammo
I carry 2 of them: one is quad explosive reduced weight with prime receiver and the other is instigating faster fire rate with speedy receiver. It be cool to see legendary crafting on this one.
Why quad? It defaults to 250 and mods to 500. With its slow fire rate, pretty much any effect would be better than quad. Even something bad like suppressors
@@beastabuelos6421 I just picked that from Eviction Notice but it is a back up weapon compared to my quad explosive LMG/50 cal MG or Instigating 50crit Plasma Caster.
The best gun is a reliable gun. Plus a two shot explosive Gatling is super fun and satisfying.
I'd started with the Final Word .50 from the Beckett questline and I'm now going back and trying out the gatling guns to preserve some ammo since I don't have a lot of lead. Only a couple weeks into FO76 but I'm really enjoying my heavy PA build :D
My first heavy gun was the .50 cal, been using it ever since, tried the Gatlin but it has gotten me killed because it fires so slow, never had that problem with the .50 cal. The one I have used for years is a double shot explosive. Yesi carry 20,000 rounds with me cause it just eats ammo. That mirelurk Queen you were struggling with takes me about 30 seconds to take down. I go there all the time to collect cranberries for cranberry relish. Hey not saying anything bad about the Gatlin gun my buddy swears by it, it's just not my favorite.
Ive Got a bloodied ffr, with snappy receiver gatling gun.. i run it on a bloody commando build in VATs and having some fun with it.. sure i could do a better build but even with a non optimal it does great.. that thud is awesome. I get numbers close to 800 on hits.
Plasma caster is the best heavie weapon in fallout 76 overall…
It doesnt break fast
Ammo is free
Hits like a truck
Can solo earl in around 50 seconds with a good roll about same as railway
Covers all ranges
Can be use out of power armor and still hits hard
Just best heavie weapon overall
Less ap cost and more damage than gatling gun
Vampire and explosive is my new favorite thing for everything other than bosses
The Gatling Gun is a very good weapon but I prefer the plasma caster because is very powerful. I have the Q2525...it's a monster weapon
I got given a prime bloodied gatling with some ultracite 5mm by a absolute saint of a player when i was abit over lvl 50 just before a alien event, i still carry this gun, love it and the bullets are free. I have others that do more damage now but this i use for normal enemies
Max out grenadier you get a larger blast radius is the gun has explosive bullets
So far my best weapon is the quad gause rifle vampire legendary mod with prime receiver. Poppin 1000k minimal..
Gatling gun and Plasma Caster = Perfect Low Ammo Backup weapons.
Now if only I'd find some APWS* ones. ;)
Got a 2shot limb damage 2 star Gatling gun at like level 35 or something and it carried me all the way up until level 100
Plasma caster is my favourite unlimited ammo high damage shoots like a sniper just wish it was a bit more actuate
I have a fully modded version of this with vampires, 25% faster fire rate and 90% reduced weight.
get the faster firerate one and get the mod on nexus that gets rid of the crank animation and it becomes a pretty insane wep
99% of the time i end up selling or converting my extra 5mm as I'm constantly around 20k rounds
Almost sounds like an autocannon (which Fallout seems to have forgotten about altogether?)
Still have my crafted one roll TSE Gatling gun today love it.
Gathers ammo faster than I use it. Explosive is nice. Vampire would be helpful.
Someone in game gifted me a furious gatling gun and i am forever grateful. has gotten me through alot.
A good Vampires Minigun along with either the Flamer or Cremator are amazing
Its ok for ammo but its slow and boring and no fun 😅
I'd love to see a good farming guide for these guns, plans, etc.
I have a junkies faster fire rate reduce weight and I always carry it
Shouldn't the fire rate be faster or is that a different heavy gun?
I prefer the minigun for its high fire rate and its more common
The Gatling gun used to be the best gun in the game when you could control the fire rate. But now it's kind of just OK.
Back when all the other hvy weapons broke in 5 seconds of use.
I miss being able to slamfire it, it was hilarious!
Best, no
Very fun and a valid option, yes
This has to be one of the worst heavy weapons
a favorite gun just shoots to slow
Bro aim for the head tf are you doing
I wanted to like this one, got a anti armor, faster fire rate but felt it was kinda weak compared to some of the other heavies i've tried. Maybe I need bloodied explosive? Love the look and sound of it though.
It's a good and cool weapon don't get me wrong but calling it the best is a straight up lie lol, it's really good starting off but endgame? not even top 10
Unless they come up with a cursed version that increase the fire rate by 50-75% not worth your rolls or time
I can't stand the sound!!
no.
