"Scrabble" is still one of my favorite TV games and it's undoubtedly because of Chuck Woolery. I've been a fan of Mr. Woolery's TV work since his time on "Wheel of Fortune" and his down-to-earth (and quiet) charm made his shows so darn fun to watch. He will be missed.
R.I.P chuck the game show legend game show like wheel of fortune scrabble love connection greed the series plus home & family & so on you will be missed
I truly believe Chuck Woolery was the big reason Scrabble, Love Connection, and Lingo were so watchable. He has mischievous way of hosting, but always cool and calm. Its a distinct pleasure to relive this on UA-cam.
I Remembered Watching "Scrabble!" On WDIV-TV Channel 4 Detroit, Michigan is Affiliate from NBC Television Network, A Long Time Ago , Doing the ReRuns on USA Network!!!!?
September 1984, Scrabble started its televised game show on NBC then USA ran their reruns of Scrabble episodes later. I would guess any letter, and then would solve the puzzles. Chucky made that game show his way, one thing I always loved was that synth background music every time a puzzle is loaded in with a letter. Thank you Chuck for Scrabble then next meet you on LC at 2&2.
Scrabble aired against the second half of TPIR in most of the NBC stations on which it aired at 11:30AM EST from 7/2/84-9/4/1987, then NBC moved to at 12:30PM EST against Y&R on 9/7/19873/24/1989, then NBC moved it to 10AM EST on 3/27/1989-3/23/1990 when it was cancelled. Philly on KYW aired it at 3PM EST from 9/16/1985-9/15/1989. There was a 1993 revival on NBC that came and went in 21 weeks from 1/18-6/11/1993.
A day some people dread, it certainly was the case this weekend for Chuck. Mentioned as I described my Scrabble game for one of my birthday memories my last video.
although he had is political difference, deep down he care for all. covid prove for him not to be a hoax, he learn that the hard way. i bet he dislike the leader he once voted, but we don't know. but either way he is a great host of every game show and i sure going to miss him. vaya con dios Chuck
Wonder if Chuck did get reprimanded for the "DON'T HIT IT" outburst. I know NBC S&P was one of the worst back in the day (as George Peppard reminded us on P+).
He's not the only game show host to be on the right. Ever read Pat Sajak's columns? Alex Trebek was a self-admitted libertarian, as is Drew Carey. And then there was Jeff Foxworthy...'nuff said? But there are plenty of emcees that are/were on the left: Bob Barker and Gene Rayburn come to mind.

I think you make a good point - he never seemed to take any of it too seriously, and it kept things light
He also hosted the Dating Game Revival from 1997-1999 too
RIP Chuck Woolery, thanks for being a very big important part of my childhood

Haha I noticed that too - glad he didn't call attention to it! The hazards of the game, I suppose
I used to watch this on KYW-TV3 at 3:00PM when KYW was affiliated with NBC
Me too. Followed by Super Password at 3:30pn and Daytime Wheel Fortune at 4pm.
@ yep great times
Seems to be from Summer 1987, perhaps August, given the Back to School reference in one of the fee plugs.
I would think earlier because of the lack of cold player intro, which by summer 1987 existed even for the bonus winners.
Trivia: The microphones in front of the contestants are Sony ECM-53FPs.

Great display of the now late "walking blooper reel" in action.
Chuck Woolery is dead already?
Yep
Scrabble on Buzzr please
J, Q, X, and Z are the least commonly used letters. R, S, T, L, N, and E are the most commonly called letters in Wheel of Fortune.
