Top stuff, ineresting mix. I think the last time I stood on this station NSE Class 50s were approaching their final days on the Exeter-Waterloo services. I remember getting off 50009 here after catching it fron Exeter on my only time on the line.
Oh you have such a great memory for detail when it comes to what we did years back, as I don't remember, but if I took a photo I can look back and maybe remember.
Glad you enjoyed it Rod, its a station I had not been to since I did the spoons in the town many years ago but I'm sure next time I will stay a bit longer. ATB Mike.
Hi Andy, that's great you have enjoyed this video, I was a bit disappointed I wasn't the far end of platform 3 when 666734 went through, took my mine off what was going on. ATB Mike.
Absolutely brilliant video Mike, the class 70 and 158 arriving together and the blue pulman were just awesome. I'm guessing you knew the power cars were on their way. As for 66734, i made the fatal mistake 2 weeks ago of not checking RTT and boarded a train at Wandsworth Road only for it to pass me 2 minutes later. Top marks for this one Mike. ATB Colin.
Colin I know how you feel mate I do silly things like that a lot of times, like I should have been at the other end of the platform when 66734 went past at speed, and today that loco went through Water Orton but that would have been a rush to get as we were with friends having a meal out. Thank you Colin for your comment. Mike.
Wonderful shots and captures there Mike. The powercars were amazing, I saw them arriving at Crewe in the afternoon, as I was there for the day. 66734 as well! Wow! Superb that! You did well there! Lovely sounds and workings! Excellent detailing and camera work! Fantastic action and variety! Shame about the sprinters bowling you for the 70! A perfect example of why I recommend your excellent channel! Great stuff! Top class! No faults at all! Well done! Great work! Nice liveries as well! A winner! Highly enjoyable stuff! Good crossovers too! Very nice indeed! Looooooooooooooved it! Really enjoyed, thanks for sharing! Take care, have an awesome day and all the best! Jamie
Superb video Mike. You had a good couple of hours. Nice race between the 70 and 159 and also 734 thrashing through the station plus catching the LSL HST power cars and coach move. I also loved that shot of 4O43 coming from the Reading line and crossing the up slow and fast. Top video. ATB. Ben
Its a station I do like to video at Ben because you have the opportunity to film from different angles which make the time there more interesting, so yes I was happy what I filmed in the two hours I was there, but annoyed I missed the class 67 as when I looked on RTT it wasn't running. See you in coach B Saturday. Cheers Mike.
Evening Mike. Hope you’re ok 👍🏻 Just chilling in my cab at a vets near Hartford station so nothing better that one of your superb videos 🤩 Basingstoke stations looks really good with its old canopy’s still intact 👍🏻 Those class 159s have been chugging up and down since the fabulous loco hauled trains stopped running especially the class 50s 😢 Had many a happy day train spotting on Basingstoke station in the 80s 😊 I’ll have a ride on my bicycle to Hartford station tomorrow for an hour or so 😄 Friday evening is the start of our long drive to Spain 🇪🇸 for our two weeks holiday 😂 Take care as always Stevie 😎
Morning Stevie. Yes I'm ok thanks, I was out yesterday starting the day filming 50050 a few times then back home to walk the dog with my wife. Had a quick cuppa and then got the train to London to do some filming which was very rewarding for the time I was at a certain busy station. It likes look the WCML is not very busy with this strike at Felixstowe so I kept away from filming on that line this week, I hope you got to see something at Hartford station Stevie, and you have a safe journey to Spain on Friday night. ps Oh yes Basingstoke when we had the 50s to Exeter and all the XC trains was HSTs or class 47, oh they were the day wasn't they.
very nice video i got 43049 the day before going to Eastleigh 43059 looked smart in its new paint work the last time i seen 43059 was at Leicester working for East midlands trains . You must of been gutted when the 159 went past the 70 and blocked you view .
I was annoyed that I didn't get time to get to the far end of the platform 3 as 734 was a bit early, but there is always another time, in fact its been working to BS this week but I haven't had time to go and film it again mate.
Smashing video 😎👍🏽 “Neville Hill” looked smart 😎 Only been through Basingstoke twice on a holiday to Bournemouth in July 1999 ☀️😎🌴 47845 “County of Kent” did the honours between Reading and Bournemouth on a Liverpool to Poole service. We returned on the 11:19 Bournemouth-Glasgow/Edinburgh via the WCML on XC HST 43194 & 43102 as far as Reading - Happy days not a Voyager in sight 😎☀️🌴
Oh yes indeed EJC they were the days of enjoying travelling behind great loco which we didn't realise at the time, I'm amazed you have remembered the numbers unless you had them in a book you have kept. Thanks for watching, and your comment which I enjoyed reading. ATB Mike.
@@antman09ful1 some are in a book, some I still manage to remember, like my trip to my long weekend in Edinburgh from Bristol Parkway via the WCML in the early 2000’s - a complete Virgin red XC HST working the Penzance to Glasgow/Edinburgh with 43198 carrying the name “HMS Penzance” and 43093 “Lady in Red” at the other end - a terrific run up the WCML with that HST. I saw 43198 the other day at Cardiff now in its green GWR colours as part of a Castle mini-HST and it reminded me just how much these HST power cars “have been around the houses” with 43198 originally allocated to LA on build in 1982 for XC workings, but in 1983 it was moved to the ER for pooled use on the ECMLand MML before being cascaded back to the XC pool in 1993 when the ECML was then fully electrified. It spent until 2001/2002 with XC before working with the project RIO on the MML. After that it went into storage only for FGW to pick it up as part of its HST pool when it was then named “Oxfordshire 2007”. Finally now its part of the GWR castle fleet and named after 2 deceased WR train drivers…I love the working history behind locomotives 😀 you are right, we never knew how lucky we were back then 😎👍🏽
Great to see your name again Syd, next time I will do a extra hour there if I can plan a good day out, I was a bit disappointed I missed a class 67 on platform 1. Regards Mike.
Good question but the answer was in the video, the train had come from the works at Eastleigh after being repaired. That purple class 66 was motoring well, thanks for watching.
Lovely shot of the 70 having a race with the 159. Seeing the purple 66 was good too. Nice video
Thanks for checking this one our Matthew.

2hrs well spent, been through that station many times, good to be able to appreciated it as well as the variety of traffic, many thanks Mike 😊

Lovely video, great captures 👍
Many thanks for watching Westy.
Thoroughly enjoyed the video today, busy station indeed. Super stuff, thanks again Mike 👍

Tks Mike Superb filming brightened up my day England has fantastic trains n service i think the nicest igot to see twice Stansted to Liverpool st
Yes we do all right for freight trains Brian but this land is bigger than yours. Mike.
Great video as always Mike, lots of 66s and great capture of the HST at the end👍
Yes it was a good two hours for me, well I was happy ENC.
Very nice shot of 66082 mate some good camera action there mate. Well done again
I was hoping to film a class 70 coming across the points but it was running late due to a speed restriction on the line from Reading.
Purple 66 and 2 hst power cars now that's what I would call a good day. Well done 🤓 Mike. Stay safe
Well it was a good few hours I agree Tony. thanks Mike.

I did make a mistake Jamie, I should have been up the fart end of platform 3 when 66734 was coming. Thanks Mike.
@@antman09ful1 the fart end is always the best end
Nice work 👍 Greetings 🙋♂️
Many thanks RailFan for watching.
I live next to rail lines near the Basingstoke station, and I have seen the trains your filmed from my window 😂
Good place to live I would say, thanks for comment.
A great mixture of workings Mike.👍
Well David I was pleased what I did get, but I did miss a class 67 which I wasn't happy about. Regards Mike.

A good video Mike, nice catches you got :)
Thank you very much for saying that Simon.
excellent shots 👍that blue Pullman might have been on a test run
No Barry, 43049 went down the day before to collect the other PC which had a bump.

Grim record of the bland unit and shed infested modern scene. How I miss the 80's.
Yes me too mate, great years for our railways.
great video Mike, some nice liveries there matey , thanks for sharing A T B Syd :)

Great video at Basingstoke Mike. 66734 went so fast through on platform 4
Yes I was surprised how fast it was going myself Arnold. Cheers for watching.
Excellent Footage Mike. Great Vid 👍
Thanks for checking my video out Kev. ATB Mike.
Great video"
Thank you Madeline, you have been busy watching my video.
I’d say that was a productive couple of hours Mike,Basingstoke rarely disappoints does it.Quality video😎👍🏼Regards Dave
Thanks Dave, that is good of you to say that. SYS Mike.
12:25 the Hornby HST train set in real life
Well yes a short set of it, thanks for your comment.
🚂👍
Thanks Dave for watching this one. Mike.
Interesting to see the 43 in blue livery, but why only two power cars and one coach? Loved the 66 blasting through 😊 Great vid.
