Narcotic Wasteland - Shackles of Sobriety (Guitar Playthrough)

- Musically this song draws its inspiration from a few different sources.
Some of the riffs bring me back to the old days of thrash and speed metal. Some of the chords I use in this song were inspired by the soundtrack of a famous movie. One particular section was inspired from a video game sound track. Can you guess what video game?
Let us know in the comments.

Proof you don't need to tune low to be HEAVY AS FUCK! Always a treat to see these riffs up close and personal.
YOU FEAR SOBRIETY!!! As an addict in recovery this shit is fucking brutal! Keep fucking killing it Dallas!
No guessed on source inspirations, but the guitar styles you wove together here are impressive. You started out with fast paced melodic death metal guitar with thrash mixed in, transitioned to a full thrash, then the black metal chords underneath, then transitioned to full black metal by the end. NW is a tech death band, but this is art right here.
I just tuned in and thought what am I hearing right now and turned it up. The solo is killer too. This is the good stuff.
My new favorite band. I'm actually enjoying this more than Nile.
Those black metal chords in there are so fucking sick.
YOU FEAR SOBRIETY! Goddamned Perfection🤘🏽
That simple sounding atmospheric riff at start - is really badass 🔥
The whole song is great too.
A talent in Dallas hands 👍
Beast!
always the sickest riffs
New Picking Hand Study for me. Thanks Dallas 🤘🏻
OG SHREDDER🦍
Next Jackson guitars artist in this video!
Miss you in nile
Hi, Dallas! Could you someday play Introspective Nightmares? Cheers!
Yes! It is already on the list of requests. Thanks so much for the support!
I appreciate these playthroughs so much! Also very nice with the multiple camera angles. Thanks for all your efforts and all the great music
Great fucking death metal guitarist, he was real nile soul, my opinion
This song definitely hits close to home....I love it when heavy ass music can bring me to the verge of tears. Thanks Dallas.
My wrist hurts by Just watching you Dallas
It does look kinda uncomfortable at first but with his twisty-forearm technique it might not strain the wrist at all. Going through a picking hand reform myself at the moment and have learnt that there are so many different ways to make things work even just for me. And even more so for different people with different body mechanics etc.
Its obviously working for him judging by his playing and he seems to keep improving still even after a long career! Hopefully i'm right as i love his playing! Don't f your wrist up, Dallas! You've been my biggest inspiration for finally stepping up and start improving on guitar again after 10 years lost in a dead end. Your playing is one of a kind! Incredibly creative and naturally virtuosic in a natural non-pretentious way. Also showing me its possible to improve even if i am far from a teenager anymore. Thanks!
@@Hamring No critic or whatever from me...He is one of my favorit players and always an inspiration...love his work...Just looks painfull to me ;-)
@@alexfox4904 Didnt take it that way either no worries:) just felt like commenting
To play guitar is pain! But with proper warm ups I can relax more and not tense up. If you are all tense then you really risk hurting yourself.
@@narcoticwasteland please do a video on your warm up routine and exercises Dallas...would love to see how you start your playing.
And a great song too of course!
This is amazingly good. Death metal at its finest 👌
Sounds killer 🤘🏻love the riff
So good 🤘🏼
Thanks for sharing these videos with us. Love to see your 'effortless' playing.
Yesss classic song. Man nes death metal pacman all my childhood right here haha

🔥🔥🔥
My favorite song from Narcotic Wasteland.
🤘😈🤘🔥🔥🔥
This is really good. I was really surprised, usually youtube gives me bullshit.
Amazing example and show of alternate picking skill.
hey Dall! dude i am an avid gamer, 40 years old, can't pinpoint that game, making me sick!
Fucking awesome
FUCKING AWESOME!!!!!!! The song would fit that game in the background….. 😮😮😮😮❤❤❤❤❤
Was the game Road Blasters? :) Great playthrough.
Road Blasters is what's on the screen behind me, but not the inspiration for the opening section. Good arcade port for the Sega though!!
Dallas if you released a signature guitar what would the body style be, and what woods and electronics would you have in your signature guitar?
@@frankmoss2497It would most likely be a v shape with an alder body and maple neck. I am not too picky about the fingerboard since I like really big frets. Seymour Duncan JB in the bridge in the bridge and a Jazz in the neck. One CTS volume knob away from my picking hand. I really love the neck profiles on the js models. Oh yes standard tune o matic bridge with locking tuners.
I was thinking Sega outrun
I need some NW vinyl bro
