I picked up the Innersense I Create Hold Gel from Ulta and could not wait to try it out for my first official wash n go of the season. Is this going to give me definition? Is it going to give me hold? Watch the review to get my thoughts and to see if this is a new favorite gel of mine.

I Create Hold isn't formulated to work with leave ins or creams because it is activated when the hair has a lot of water molecules present. Leave ins & Creams create a barrier that prevents the gel adhering to the hair strands and activating with the water. This is the reason you feel the need add more gel. I personally only seen people use this gel by itself or on top of another botanical based gel like UFD.

You are correct and you don’t need to use a leave in just a good conditioner and plenty of water 💧 .. this stuff is the best the entire line is worth the coins.. my salon uses this with UFD and I love the results

I use innersense create hold on top of UFD. My hair lasts for 7 days. I could go longer, but prefer to stay on my wash schedule. I apply both gels on soaking wet hair while in the shower. I hop out of the shower to rake, smooth and style. I've been doing my wash and gos this way for over a year. I credit black girl curls for this method. I couldn't get a long lasting nice wash and go to save my life before discovering this method.

Love me some Innersense! Their shampoos and conditioners are top notch and very concentrated so a little goes a long way. I use I Create Hold with Uncle Funky’s, which keeps my hair moisturized.

I create hold is my staple on top of curly magic. It gives me elongation too! I agree with a lot the comments that it needs A LOT of water like other botanical gels. That's your moisture. It locks that water in. Definitely don't need much and no traditional leave ins. You definitely have way more hair than me but I only use about 5 pumps for my entire head. But it came out beautiful ❤️
I love that gel. I tend to pair it with a leavin and a cream styler. Gives it a hold without feeling dry

I use kinky curly custard as a base w/ i create hold! You don’t have to use a lot of i create hold when you use the 2 together! When i tried the i create hold alone , I didn’t get the results i wanted! Its a great get but i think you should try it as a topper gel❤️
Hey Nisha you used to much ICH and not enough water. Your hair should be soaking wet then 2-3 pumps to each section when sectioned into 4 sections. The product is concentrated therefore a little goes a long way. Also try using a botanical gel as a base then ICH.
What is ICH?
I tried it with a light leave in and my hair was rock hard for over a week. Then I tried it with the pattern beauty cream and got a nice light hold that lasted a week. I have somewhere between 3c and 4a if you wanted to know a hair type. For someone who only does a wash n go it definitely needs a cream for the moisture.

My go-to for sure! Whenever I want to do a wash n go and I want it to come out bomb, that is one of the combos I use. Glad you love it too ☺️
All responses are correct for using UFD or even using Aunt Jackie’s gel will work. A little goes a long way and you must use a lot of water. I think probably because you haven’t did a WNG in a l little while you have to refresh you method however this product is the best and it does work beautifully… keep the faith and try again 🙏🏾👍🏾
I use I create hold regularly. I don't use leave ins hardly ever. I use Uncle Funky's curly magic as my base/leave in and I create hold on top. You should not need a lot of the I create hold b/c it is a professional grade product that similar to uncle funky's requires a lot of water. I typically apply both stylers in the shower. My hair usually will last 5-7 days and then I have to wash again or pull into a puff.
Does it work well on type 4 hair?
@@sabrinacambridge3327 It works well for me. I think it also depends on the "finish" that you expect. I would say if you want a style that lasts - it is great for that.It also has has better ingredients. It is a water based botanical product unlike - wet line, eco styler and some of the other less expensive products. I think it is better for your hair down the line.
@@sabrinacambridge3327 It's what my stylist uses on my hair when I go in for a hydrate and define set.. But I don't feel like it has enough hold for me.. With my stylists combo I'd be washing every 3rd day, with my combo choice I wash about every 5th day and able to literally shake and go between washes.. I prefer UFD as a base then Wetline as a topper gel on my type 4 hair.. Only reason I wash so frequently is because my scalp demands it.. 😂 With my combo I could go 7-10days before needing a new set..
@@karynbrooks9920 I just need a medium hold to last. I would only use it for 2 strand twists that I need to last at least 3 to 4 days.

I tried the innersense gel witn a leave in and a curling cream, and it worked very well on my hair. The best wasn n go I ever had. I use the Lavish by miche beauty, treluxe curl supreme and put the gel on top.The most defined curls and hold I ever had. I used a diffuser instead of the hooded dryer.
This my holy grail gel!!! I definitely recommend you try it again without a cream based leave in. A light spray one would be good or none at all. The gel isn’t meant to have a leave in underneath or you won’t get the hold you want.
So happy to see you try this gel. Your hair was super pretty in all the clips. Maybe not using so much of the gel next time might help with the hair feeling dry or maybe adding more moisturizing products under. But yeah your hair was everything. I loved the definition and the volume.

I use it over UFD and after the cast goes away my hair feels soft and hydrated. Give that combo a try. You use way less ICH that way.
I like using custards under it. UFD is good, The mane choice Moringa the blue one was beautiful, kinky kurly is good. Those are the ones I tried so far.
Innersense has a cream called Quiet calm curl control. I use it as a one and done and it gives great moisture. Try it out. Plus Innersense products are extremely concentrated so use small amounts & rub in your hands b4 applying to distribute evenly.
I love create hold, I use it with uncle funky usually, but this time I used mop top and it came out so good. You don’t need a leave in with two gels.
Just love this gel-great with UFD. It’s a salon quality gel so a little goes a long way.
Ngl it’s giving defined Afro and I’m HERE 👏🏽FOR👏🏽 IT 👏🏽 it looks so good! Despite being day 5/6 i would stretch it by doing a twist out. But knowing my scalp, it could never!!! 🤣
This was used in my hair the last time I got my hair cut at a salon and I loved it. I definitely need to pick up my own bottle
Hey Nisha. Your wash and go came out pretty. As for Jello Shot, that’s my number one gel. Nothing compares. I love the fact that it’s extremely versatile. When I use it for a slick back, it’s bulletproof. When I use it for a wash and go, all I need to do is just scrunch out that crunch and voilà. I have me some soft, shiny, beautiful curls. Maybe your wash and go would work nicely using the NLS Banana Leave-In🤷♀️. I know you like it and get great results with it🥰💜.

I use this gel as a topper for all my custards and humectant gels. Favorite combos UFD Miche Beauty Lavish Leave In, and either Obia Naturals Curl Enhancing Custard, any Curlmix gel, TGIN Miracurl Styling gel and Miche Beauty Sculpt Curl Defining gel with the Innersence I Create Hold on top. Chef’s Kiss. On soaking wet hair I emulsify and apply with water and it makes for a smooth transition and you only need about a nickel size amount per secrion. I did my hair on Sunday using Obia Naturals and 4 days later my hair looks like day 1. I absolutely love it. Again a little goes a long way. I’ve had my 10 once bottle a long time and am just now getting down near the bottom. Will be repurchasing soon. Love this gel and I get no flakes.

I use it with ufd as my leave in, it always leaves my hair feeling hydrated. It gives about 5 days in bad weather condition.
you can use quiet calm control cream from innersense before the I create hold. just need to use a lot of water. ive seem some use that combo before. or ufd curly magic or a diff water soluble leave in under it

I feel like I'm the only one who doesn't end up with that hard cast from this gel.. 😂 I've never personally applied the product to my hair myself, but my stylist I see every couple months uses UFD and ICH as my stylers when she does my "hydrate and define" set.. I don't like the end results, too soft, not enough hold, and lacks luster.. My UFD/Wetline combo has been my absolute fav.. I want to do the whole botanical this and natural that, but my hair/scalp loves sulfates and I like cheap, easy application, shine, and longevity.. It's a balance.. 😌 My stylists always compliments my sets when I go in for my cuts and she says I've prevented a reoccurance of the damage and dehydration I started with before my big chop.. So I'm going to chalk it all up to technique mixed with consistency.. Products are only a small part of the equation.. I love seeing ICH work well for so many others though..
If and only if you want to go the botanical route with better ingredients, try Eco slay Jello shot over the UFD. They work really well together. Sometimes i even do UFD and a little ICH in the shower..then i finish off with the jello shot during styling. Works wonders and long lasting. Again, it seems like what you're doing works well for you but i thought I'd share a great combo :) i set my own hair for my maintenance cuts and my stylist loves my sets as well.
@@karat6996 My thing is can’t we just wash the cheap ingredients in those products out with a good shampoo? I’m done with botanical gels. I use a curl moisturizer and wetline and the moisture, shine and hold is so nice!
@@Neesha242 Awesome, I'm glad you found something that works. I just thought I'd share my tried and true. And yes, i think the real key is washing your hair frequently and clarifying as needed. I just happen to like my results from the products i mentioned and since the UFD and ICH combo alone doesn't work for me either, i thought I'd share my cheat code.😉

Agreed! I've been trying to do the whole botanical thing too, but I'm just not getting the results I'm used to getting with Wetline. I know I'm still dehydrated so I'll try again when my hair is more hydrated.
have not taken the innersense plunge yet. Its a "clean" product line; To some clean ingredients are important. I think innersense is also a product that is best used with the products in the line. That spray leave in may be more moisturizing than you think... As soon as I finish. my olaplex obsession, I will try innersense
Emulsifying goes a long way with plant based products! I can do my whole head with like 8 pumps on soaking wet hair or with UFD underneath. Hope you try it again with the tips everyone is sharing!

I have heard of it (not tried it) from influencers that have tried or transitioned to the Hair Detox/No raw oils/butters trend from last year.

Your hair looked great! You might want to try it over Curl Maker. From my limited experience with this gel, it needs a lot of water, your hair really needs to be dripping. It may be best to apply it in the shower. I can't use it as my main gel only as a very light topper over a medium hold gel. I used one pump over UFD on my entire head, and I still had a lot more hold than I prefer. I'm trying to figure out how I"m ever going to use it up because I haven't used it since. UFD alone gives me enough hold to last 5days with minimum frizz. Maybe I'll try it with Curl Maker or Sprung Coil Boosting Gelly.

Hi Nisha I tried the gel a year or so ago and for me never repurchased I never reached for it. I LOVE the 4 in 1 with the hi def gel from Tres luxe that combo is the best for me I know we are all different but I don't even feel the need to stray as it works.

Also you should sit under the dryer first, then diffuse. Air drying is not recommended for this product.

This gel got me through summer in Las Vegas lol, I put my leave in on in the shower, then I paired with devacurl b leave in or either I create volume then topped with the I create hold. My hair was slightly gooyey but a few droplets of water allowed me to work in the product and get rid of the gooey parts. My wash n go lasted 5/6 days with no refreshing. This might be my favorite strong hold gel
Good video! I was concerned about the hold when I first used this gel but I was quite surprised. I use Uncle Funky’s Daughter under it and I am able to get a seven day wash and go. I have used it twice and I maybe be able to get one or two more uses.
This was used at a salon on my hair after 3 days my hair had the worse flakes in the front. Gonna tell them to use less next time. The plus was serious definition that I have never seen b4 on my hair. She did raking and uncle funky gel underneath innersense with no leave-in

I started back using these products again. According to Black Girl Curls, I Create Hold is not a very strong topper gel for high humidity. It is being used to add weight and smooth out frizz during high humidity. So a more humidity resistant topper gel like Trepadora Papaya Slip, Trepadora Bamboo Ginseng Glaze or even The Doux Pop Lock can be used.
Right now, I have to use a second or tertiary topper for the humidity resistance. I use UFD+ICH+PS or UFD+ICH+BG. These combos work and last several days especially if I cover my hair with a buff. Last fall the humidity was too much, but I didn't realize that I should have reduced the amount of UFD.
Also, the way they explain it is that a botanical gel is used in place of a leave-in. It has more hold that a typical leave-in and can keep/encapsulate moisture with its high humectants. This reduces the rate of water loss but doesn't stop it. So the hair stays more moisturized while being defined than with the typical leave-in.

I usually feel the moisture when the cast breaks. By 3 to 4 my hair is super soft with crazy definition still. I use Curly Magic Uncle Funky’s Daughter under it with lots of water. I’ve used that combo for 2 years, and wouldn’t use anything else. It was a game changer. Check out Fo Adunni, she does have one video where she uses a leave in under.

That completely dried my hair out (3C/4A). It looked nice for 1 day and looked a complete dried out mess the day after.

I tried it with uncle funcky. I got a soft result. I'm surprised you got a cast. I realized with curly magic and I create hold, I need to use a lot of water. I waiting for a hooded dryer my result are not on point yet.
