- Building The Coolest DIY Custom Sliding Barn Door With Frosted “Glass”!
I wanted sliding barn doors with frosted glass for my new home office, but a short ceiling and a weird shaped door call for a custom build! So, I created these sliding bypass barn doors with frosted “glass” with the help of my friends at DAP Products!
Also, shoutout to DIY Danie for flying all the way to Long Island from Toronto to help me finish my office makeover! Go give her some love!

I bet that office feels like a breath of fresh air Sam. 💯
It’s SO much better. 🥹
I think the doors turned out perfect.❤️
I love that you didn't make them solid black. By adding the frosted panels the natural light from the window gives the illusion of a more open larger space in that corner. I have worked with the spray frosting before and I learned quickly that spraying very thin/ even coats and making sure they are completely dry in between, will give the best results. Yours look amazing.
Great job, Sam, you get the gold ⭐😀
Shoutout to DIY Danie for being such a great friend.🌺
Thank you! And, thanks for the spray advice! 💓
another incredible video!!
Thank you! 🥰
Those doors are Fabulous!!
Thank you!
I feel like it might look cool to have coloured lights inside the closet so it shines through the frosted panels👀
Ohhhhhh. Good thing I’m renovating this closet this week. 😉
I love the Sam and Danie Shooooowww!! The whole room looks so good, and perfectly cohesive with the rest of the house. On brand and looks great!
Best show arounddd.
Ohhhhh yeah Sam!!! Never give up, never surrender!!! Everything is lookin pretty cool I must say. Hoping all is well, Dirty Jersey out!!
Those are so cool😮! But you know what is really cool?! You are making these videos for us!!! I am so pumped to make my first complete piece! I love working with existing furniture, but to make a simple coffee table is my first of many goals!!! Thank you so much!! You ROCK!!! 😊
Ahhh! I’m so excited for you! Please share when you do! 💓
@@diyhuntress I promise! You are so kind! 😁
The doors look great!
And yes, Danie IS the best!
Thank you!
Also would have liked for see more of what the new "trim" looked like with the doors opened.
I made a sliding barn door for my laundry room at my wife's request and I have a (2 Pcs) ¼ inch thick plexiglass for a center window in which I used orbital sander to sand the back sides of plexiglass n sandwiched then together. No frost paint and it looks evenly frosted. My wife was extremely happy and she tells me that she gets nothing but complements on door... Maybe you can try that method on a future product.😊😊
Great video ! I knew it was going to be good, but it was even better !
Ahhh - thank you!
Looks amazing
Thank you!
The doors are BEAUTIFUL. I would like to do this throughout my house. I think it would also look great in the garage to cover all the stuff I've accumulated! I think I'll start there! You're so much fun to watch and you make it look so easy. Thanks for sharing!!!
Cool doors Sam👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽💐❣️
Thank you!
Well done...
...and I liked that Danie showed up again. 🙂
Everything about that room is beautiful 😍❤️👍
Thank you! So happy. 🥺
Like it.
Thanks!
Great doors, Sam. Everything is coming along nicely.
Bill
Thank you!
I love your builds and honesty.
Thank you! Always wanna keep it real!
I was looking at doing something almost identical for a sliding French door separator between our dining room and den. When looking at doors I saw that they were upwards of $1000! Thinking I might have to go your route here.
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻coooooooool
Looks great. I can't wait for the closet because my looks exactly the same since our bedroom was once the attic.
Ahh! Working on it this week! 🙌
You can also just apply a frosted glass film to the acrylic instead of spray paint
Yep! Looked into that as well… but, too late in the game hahah.
Looks great Sam!! Always a great job❤
Thank you! 💓
If you use a thicker plexiglass you can cut it with the table saw or track saw and the edges won’t break. If you don’t want the thin acrylic to break when cutting, wedge it between 2 sacrificial pieces.
The thinner ones cut okay on wood blades too! Just didn’t want the doors to be too heavy. Thanks for the advice about the wedges!
My wife has been on me to do this for our master bathroom fir years. This is one of the better and simpler videos I've seen on how to do it. Would like to know how you fixed the frosted glass issue u had....thanks girl!
Ahh! This makes me so happy! I added more frosting. But, they make a film that seems much easier to apply evenly that I found after making this that I’d recommend looking into!
So pretty! I love this space!! I need that closet video lol. I have the worst closet!!
Thank you! I’m working on it this week! 💓
Awesome project! A while back, I used a frosted glass spray (don't remember the brand) but I didn't really like the finish either, so my wife and I opted for a different route and I just sanded the back of the acrylic piece with like, 220 or 320 and it came out amazing, plus the surface was super smooth, with no swirl marks or anything.
Yesss! I love thisss. I thought about this too. I still am not completely in love with the finish. Maybe I’ll sand down the panels!
I'll send you a couple of pictures of the one we did through Instagram.
Great job, the door and glass look great! What is the guitar and amp that you have?
Thank you! We have a bunch - my other half is a musician. Cant take credit for any of it hahah.
@9:15 can we pause from this amazing project you pulled off and take a second to admire those guns! You have the shoulders and arms i have been working for over the past year. Can you please share what you do for fitness. Is it sport or lifting or genetics? God i hope you respond to this. Thanks!
BTW, your website is down...
Thank you for letting me know! Working on it now!
How wonderful that you and Danie can help and support each other ! Nice project, I really like your whole house design and finishes. The wood and the black is all beautiful ❤️
She’s the besttt. Thank you!
