    This video shows the process for connecting a SPROG to a computer and the track, using JMRI to speed match Kato P42DC locomotives, the test run on the SBHRS N Scale layout, and how I improved the marker lights that I installed last time.
    This is the grande finale to a series that shows how I built a long distance Amtrak train in order to have a centerpiece for my N Scale collection. Some day I might weather this train, but I'm satisfied with it as is for now!

    Interesting method for speed matching. I use a similar method using JMRI, but with the following differences:
    1. I use my NCE Powercab with their USB adapter to connect my PC to the Powercab;
    2. I use a speedometer unit to measure the speed of each locomotive;
    3. While I normally use the basic speed settings (CV2, CV5, and CV6), sometimes I use the 28 step speed table (yes, the speed table is 28 steps) to get better fine tuning for speed matching;
    4. I usually establish speeds that I want all (or at least most) of my locomotives to operate at. This makes running them more predictable, plus it allows me to mix different consists together.
    Also, all decoders use the same method for advanced consists. This involves loading the consist address into CV19. The values for CV19 at 1-127 for forward orientation, and 128-255 for reversed orientation. So, an advanced consist for back-to-back locomotives could be 1/129 to 127/255 (if you noticed, the reversed units CV19 setting is the value of the forward unit, plus 128).
