1:23 the look that Mel gives Viktor is chilling, like “i know you’re there, I heard what you said, I’m even gonna answer your question, but I’m not going to address or acknowledge you”, she’s almost treating him LESSER than the counselor she bought a children’s toy for, in the scene she never talks to Viktor directly he’s simply a barrier to Jayce & convincing him of what she wants.
what anagarcia1759 said, i didnt realize even after rewatching the season! i wonder if we’ll see more of that sort of behavior from Mel in season 2 (i havent watched it yet, so pls no spoilers 🙏)
I love it so much. She is laser-focused in on her goals - even if it means manipulating others. I love her characters so much even if I love Viktor also
I sometimes wish there would be scenes where viktor reached his boiling point and got angry at the unfairness but I know it’s not in his character.. so I guess we’ll leave that to the fan fictions…
But ultimately, it is a flaw on both of their ends. Viktor asks how are Undercity people dangerous while smuggling an illegal drug that has ruined countless lives into Piltover so that he can use it in illegal, dangerous experiments. "Pshft, I can't believe Jayce just called Zaun dangerous."
@@Cityweaver yeah, they're both incredibly selfish people. Even if Jayce and Viktor didn't grew appart due to their own ambitions, Jayce still would have sacrificed everything for Viktor. I absolutely hate how mel just looks at viktor and does not address his concerns directly at him only just glances, she instead only talks to jace and looks. She's still my gorgeous queen but still. Viktor is right there, address him with respect. he's your partner's partner
@@Ashbrash1998we did not watch the same show, at first that was her purpose but after a while she actually started to love him otherwise she wouldn't have subconsciously protected jayce from jinx's rocket
The scene were jayce and Viktor fight over the blockade makes me so sad... I bet Viktor would have told him about the shimmer if jayce didn't say those things about the under city... The sad thing is if the blockade never happened I bet viktor would have told jayce about the shimmer and together they may have found a way to use it safely not ending in sky's death 😔
Exactly! He had just told Singed earlier 'Jayce will understand' and then Jayce says those things about Undercity, that they're 'dangerous' and...well.
Yes, he fell into the us vs them mentality, because literally everyone around him was peddling the exact same statement. Everyone in the under city was also peddling the exact same statement. In the end the blockade made sense because they were experiencing terrorist attacks from the undercity. Him getting mad at Viktor was a slip up. *One he immediately apologizes for.* But Viktor decided to not trust Jayce anymore, a man who was able to remove someone from the council who had been there for 300 years, because he was in the way of saving Viktor's life. That is the primary reason Jayce got rid of Heimerdinger; because he was actively trying to destroy the one thing they believed could cure Viktor.
Yeah, he totally was going to tell him. Probably would've told him the person he was going to see was from Zaun too, if Jayce hadn't left so quickly after the meeting with Heimerdinger.
@@rai4119 one can't really blame Viktor for deciding not to trust Jayce at that moment tho. He's pretty open about what he stands for, so justified or not, finding out that Jayce directly ordered a blockade that mostly affects the very same people they both have supposedly been trying to help would make him believe Jayce won't understand. Not to mention that he already thinks Jayce is wasting time with the political stuff + he most likely doesn't know a this point about Heimerdinger getting kicked out of the council Doesn't help that after this he basically sees Mel push for hextech weapons and Jayce doesn't back him up in opposing that
@@rhys1264 It's sad too because Jayce wasn't a bigot either, or was at least not far down the pipeline at this point. He had been influenced by everyone around him to see people he never met as dangerous, but as soon as he actually interacted with them, he began to care about them and wanted to help, losing any prejudice. But the damage was already done and it led to bad consequences.
I love the hesitation of Viktor when he's disarming the bomb, he knows he doesn't have much time left, he knows Jace will make the weapons, he is considering letting it explode to kill Jace sacrificing himself, there is always a choice also implied he just made one too
As someone who cares so much about saving lives, I personally don't think Viktor would ever consider taking the life of his best friend? But that's just my opinion...
I genuinely don't get all the Jayce hate. He was a naive person who was easily manipulated by all around him, and the only person who wasn't manipulative, Viktor, also wasn't there -- present minded -- in the things that were happening all around them. I was seriously surprised that On his second day of being a council member, Jayce is discovering that a lot of people were literally stealing their tech, there were a lot of inventory discrepancies, And Victor is like "yeah push that stuff to the side what about staying in the lab to help people". He *can* get up; he was just working. (Hi, disabled person with a crutch here) What was actually good about the cinematography was "defend YOUR people" bit, and then it cuts to the one Zaunite in the room
@@rai4119 I saw a comment once saying that it cut to his face because no matter how much time he spends topside, he's still from the undercity. So by refusing to make weapons he is, in a way, defending his people.

You can clearly see in jacye's eyes and the fact that his grinding his teeth is that he really doesn't trust ppl from the undercity imagine how that made Viktor feel oh my god.
I hate seeing Jayce that way too because it's so clear that he's been conditioned to think that way by every person around them, but it's clear he wouldn't think that way if he got any exposure to the people of Zaun and realized they weren't monsters and are living in terrible conditions (which is what happens when he does go down there). at 2:33 ish I don't think Viktor hesitates to defuse the bomb because he doesn't know which wire to cut; I think he's considering if it would be better for the world to let him and Jayce blow up because Jayce is genuinely thinking about making Hex-tech weapons and they're the only two people who can do that. That makes his line afterwards of "There's always a choice" so much cooler (I could be wrong just theorizing)
Video idea: Jayce being your standard bisexual Basically making bad decisions at his worst and being gay for Viktor at his best ( well, more or less when I mean gay)
"love and legacy are sacrifices we made for progress" Like, I know Singed had a line about Heimedinger after that, but Viktor still going "Jayce will understand." Never stops being needle scratch worthy :'D
I like the imagery of victor defusing a bomb when talking about the potential war. At the time I thought it was forshadowing for victor defusing the greater situation, but so far that hasn't been the case. Season 2, maybe? Probably not.
In the end it was actually Jayce who came closest to defusing issues and securing peace/a better future for Piltover and Zaun. Well, before Jinx got a little quirky at the end. Who knows, maybe it's foreshadowing for Viktor defusing Jinx's missile at light speed and saving the day.

Jealous??! Mel is talking about creating weapons with magic involved and aiming them to the the undercity and putting Viktor's people in danger with his own technology... And you think that jealousy is the reason he's upset?
Ngl, as pretty as she is, I kinda hated Mel in season 1. ESPECIALLY during that scene at 1:20. She talks as if Viktor isn't even in the room! She just completely ignores him, and tells Jayce it's HIS decision whether they turn hextech into weapons or not! GIRL Viktor has literally done more research than Jayce at this point. Why isn't it up to him too?...The way nobody on the council listens to Viktor EVER, except for Jayce, is so tragic. The inequality is palpable. This poor guy just gets overlooked and has his sense of control taken from him over and over again. When he tries to say anything in council meetings, he gets ignored. When he tries to tell Heimerdinger that he's anxious about dying and he wants to help people with hextech asap, he gets ignored. When he tells Mel he doesn't want to use hextech for weapons, he gets ignored. Then when he decides he's just had enough, and tries to take some control back for himself, fucking MAGIC starts taking his control from him, and he loses more and more of himself as the very thing he hoped would help people!!! And yeah, he shouldn't have messed with shimmer and started doing experiments on himself. Heimerdinger did warn him. What happens to him is partially his own fault and I can't justify all of his decisions. But damn do I feel for him. The fact he carries so much empathy for people, and STILL wants to help them, even after how poorly he gets treated, really shows what a kind person he is. I mean, tbh even after he lost faith in humanity, he still kinda wanted to help them. "Glorious Evolution" was supposed to free people from conflict and suffering. Like...obviously taking away people's free will and turning them all into robots is bad. But like...calling Viktor "evil" feels wrong to me. Cuz even if he did ultimately hurt people, that was never his intention (Ok well...maybe with the exception that one scene where he was fighting Jayce and Mel. But that was only after they rejected his offer to join him peacefully. Overall he didn't want to hurt anyone). Even someone like Jinx, who kinda gets painted as a hero in the end, WANTED to hurt people. Jinx is way more evil than Viktor ever was imo. She enjoyed causing pain and chaos. Viktor wanted the opposite, his methods were just a bit fucked up. I'm really glad he got his redemption at the end of the series and that he and Jayce forgave each other. I think he deserved it. And honestly, I stg if a new series gets made and everyone just talks about Viktor like he was evil, and nobody stands up for him and is like "Actually he always wanted to help people. His goal was to end suffering and war and make everyone equal. But then he started experimenting with magic, and got all corrupted. His methods became more evil, but his intentions were always good", I'm gonna lose my mind. I need justice for my boy Viktor. He's not a villain. He's morally grey, just like pretty much everyone else in Arcane. :*) Edit: THAT SAID THOUGH! I also want to clarify that I only disliked season 1 Mel. She has a whole character arc and becomes a better person and I actually love her as a whole character. It just took me a while to warm up to her because Viktor's my favorite character, and up until she realized how much he meant to Jayce, Mel kinda just treated him the same way all the other council members did. Which was essentially "Omg Jayce, the inventor of hextech! ...Oh and that other guy I guess". But I know she gets better. I'm not a Mel hater. I'm actually extremely exited to see what the writers might do with her in the new Noxus focused series.
4:21 Why does the council get so upset about Jayce’s peace deal? It seems reasonable, & the Undercity didn’t really seem to contribute much to Piltover’s culture or finances. They’d lose nothing but problems, right?
It isn’t super explicit but I think that piltover relies heavily on zaun for production and mining, which are essential to piltobian culture as it is so heavily based in science (and in turn heavily relies on metal mined in zaun) Zaun and piltover do in fact do trade, and all the not so pretty production goes on downtown.

That makes his line afterwards of "There's always a choice" so much cooler (I could be wrong just theorizing)
JAYCE WILL UNDERSTAND
Video idea: Jayce being your standard bisexual
Basically making bad decisions at his worst and being gay for Viktor at his best ( well, more or less when I mean gay)
I love gays.
We love you too
We Also move you too
On behalf of gays, thank you
We love you too :3
On behalf of the republic of humans we do not accept you anymore traitor
Viktor looks so sick in the last scene, your majesty I cannot
"Jayce will understand" The way that he went far and beyond damn
oh we had no idea how bad their decisions would be.
@@noahmclaughlin7921 We all know Viktor's classic ability to move at light speed!
Oh definetly not
@@plazma0325Bwaaahahah- imagine if he could tho- thatd be hilarious- old league Viktor, MOVING AT THE SPEED OF LIGHT- METAL MAN- AT SPEED OF LIGHT- Sorry something about machine herald jesus going WEEEE is hilarious to me
I love my boys. That’s what I need to say.
In that scene where Mel is talking about weapons we don’t even see her or Jayce’s expressions half the time, just Viktor being jealous
Jealous??! Mel is talking about creating weapons with magic involved and aiming them to the the undercity and putting Viktor's people in danger with his own technology...
And you think that jealousy is the reason he's upset?
Lady that's not jealousy, that's disgust
bless you for this
i enjoy your commentary greatly
angri viktor kinda cute
Let’s be real, he’s always cute!
La voz de Víktor es una delicia
Omg these were amazing ty sooooo much
I think I'm getting into new Fandom here
Ngl, as pretty as she is, I kinda hated Mel in season 1. :*)
Edit: THAT SAID THOUGH!
@ ohhh, good points! Their initial bewilderment just never made sense to me
I love all your videos
