- I have created the dumbest way to possibly level in World of Warcraft. The only way I can get any exp is from exploration! No quests, no enemies, and no dungeons. Can I get a character to max without any of these? Find out as I level a character in World of Warcraft through nothing but flying around!

@CoyoteCael you said you didn't want to do like that herbalist panda run because that killed plants, yet you called this the vegan run...which involves the death of plants (and animals in the process as well), so...a bit of a misnomer

If you ever do this again.... Gotta do it as a Earthen. Get that sweet sweet extra 100% increase from exploring locations.

Thank you! I'll have to go back to the drawing board with Earthen then. The chests were easily the biggest time gate so cutting those out would make me much more satisfied with the challenge :D
@@Jaxxie_B I was gonna make a pacifist Earthen and do the same but I also gave myself any quests that don't involve killing. I didn't think what he did was possible until this.
Oh this is for sure how I'm leveling my Earthen. I'm so sick of questing and dungeons but I love running around the world.
I wouldn't say it's the dumbest way, I would say it's the most peaceful way to level up.
Doing this as an Earthen is completely wild lol. Thanks for saving me many many hours/days of grinding!

Back in Vanilla we used to make lvl 19 Twinks for PvP battlegrounds and there was a lot of what we called "Corpse Dragging" where your character's ghost runs dead from graveyard to graveyard and rez in the zones you needed to complete whatever it was, like a quest or buying something from a remote vendor etc,etc..but you were able to turn your XP on/ off also..but the XP was pretty good..

From the Title I assumed you gonna level with gathering which is to be honest one of the greatest and most relaxed ways to level a character in my opinion (and really great for your pocket as well) but EXPLORATION god damn xD

If you want to do another "no kill" run, go night elf. Shadomeld is great for losing aggro while in combat.

Cool vid. Bruv there is engineering toys that allow you to traverse into old zones (shadowlands,kultiras etc) you need engineering level 1 to use them from toys menus. Maybe can avoid quests xD

Use friends to summon you to the areas that require quests to get to. Then you don't need to use turn off exp thing.
As someone who's, very slowly over many years, leveling an herbalism/miner with no kills, I dread the day I look at the kills number and it doesn't say 0

Grats, and that's brilliant. Well done. I once considered doing that, and once considered levelling with kills only but couldn't figure out how to not get exploration XP in doing so, but decided against it because I don't get THAT bored. I do have a toon that has been levelled I'd guess around 90% pet battle XP, and a few toons that levelled heavily with herbs and ore, though I never considered being strict about no other form of XP gains in doing so because I was just lazy levelling, not aiming for levelling in a weird way being a specific goal. If you ever decide to do that again, or level higher on that toon, make note that exploration points are given not just for the zones that uncover the map and give the Explorer achievement, there's also a lot of other smaller zone spots that will give XP that are worth hunting down. Example: you'll get points for finding Orgrimmar if you fly over it, but in Orgrimmar there are also points to get for finding the Valley of Wisdom, the Valley of Honor, the Drag, etc. There's XP for most caves and caverns. I don't know if it still happens, but entering a dungeon or raid by walking in through the swirly wall used to also give exploration XP.
I've actually gotten significant portions of EXP by pet battling. It's slow and boring, but it does give something like 5k exp per battle. I used to finish off level capping toons by doing pet battle dailies for pet charms.
my sister and i started playing at the start of cata, and she was ALWAYS a level or two ahead of me and she literally played half as much as me. then i watched her play and she was just running around and exploring the whole time lol
Fun Fact : You can level off of Pet Battles & Archeology.
@@vallyyn i seem to remember when pet battles were released they were also by far the fastest way to powerlvl, so good that it was nerfed in a couple of days
true. leveled my hunter from 0 to BfA through only pet battles. Was really fun

Back in like 2005 I leveled my first main, an Orc Shaman, to 60 by discovering Ironforge for 6 XP. Still have the screenshot somewhere.
Obviously not the same thing you did here, back then it wouldn't have been possible to max a character with exploration alone (and it definitely wasn't possible in 24 hours!).

so they must have changed this in the past decade. back when i played you got like 100xp discovering a new zone
the xp is based on the level of the zone you discovered, the zones now scale with your character level as you level up so you can pick what xpac you want to level in.

Even in classic it would've been possible to level up through exploration. It's just that traversal speeds were really low

@@beardedgaming1337 Yeah I didn't mean entirely either, it's almost scary how quick levelling up has become in general.
All the way back in Blizzcon 2005, Jeff Kaplan said, that while you gained xp by exploring, this xp should never be enough so that you level up, since leveling up for, lets say, crossing a road, was not realy fun or exciting. That said, it was possible that it happened, if you needed like just a smidget of xp in your bar to hit the level, however the point was, that exploring should never be your main source of xp.
The determined crow chasing you across the zone reminded me of a dark iron dwarf from the passage leading into the Blackrock Depths deciding it didn't like me and rather than killing it I decided to just run and see how far it would got. It followed me all the way across Searing Gorge to the tunnel leading up into Loch Modan. It was quite the long run on my own two feet.
Tip: you can't be dazed or dismounted if you're on a tank spec or wearing a Comfortable Rider's Barding in your mount equipment

I did this in WotLK, when achievements were first dropped i got the world explorer achievement before getting flying in any zone by cliff jumping

i mean ive leveled a character to 20 before off of exploration alone but this is just unhinged
(only to 20 because i wasnt on sub at the time and i just default to leveling all my characters to 20 because im not usually on sub)
Me and my brother did the whole world exploration without flying. We put on some traveler mog and started running around the game. Great memories
The thing to do when trying to plan out something like this is to do a full practice run without restarting if you make a mistake, this will allow you to learn what to do and what not to do in the entire run for when you do it again. Otherwise you only learn up until the part where you restart the run, and then you get a little farther next time and make a different mistake.
I'll definitely be employing this in my earthen runs, but not for failure reasons 👀

Thanks for the video, good content. Just a tip, theres an addon or weakaura that puts a mark on your map for when the zone is "discovered". Not sure if its still active, but I hope that helps.

I always explore on my characters but the earthen makes it soo good! I got to 70 just flying around! (took 12 hours +breaks) I only killed when i had to
Earthen race has 200% xp boost for exploration so this is probably a lot more manageable now

Insane dedication. I had my one and only pacifist run in cata when they introduced XP to gathering nodes. I was going for realm first herbalism AT first, and when I noticed it was good XP, spent thé night in Twilight Highlands where herbs where hyperspawning. All of this as a tauren druid : flight form for easy herb gathering (impossible to do as a non druid, I was aggroing constantly, so would have had to fight or chain die), and tauren racial making it even more easy, 1.5 sec gathering for herbs instead of 3 sec for a night elve druid for example. Got realm first 85. Yup.
Original cata btw, would probably not have worked on the new cata release where competition was probably much higher and leveling routes hyper optimised 15 years later. Also the herb hyper Spawn was a bug AT the time fixed After 3-4 days, probably not happening in current cata, so would have been completely impossible.
Next time lvl up using a steering wheel as a controller. Great content keep it up man!

Best way to level is all pet battles! (PvE and PvP .. when there are PvP battles available).
When earthen are unlocked you should try again. They get a bonus to exploration xp as a racial

This is real. I have max-leveled just exploring...then after I maxed THAT out? Herbing and fishing. NO kills and NO quests. None. Purely intentional-I needed out of my own head. WoW Therapy! Take off ANYTHING that can AoE-including spells etc.-if it is auto...go near NOTHING that can die.

You reminded me of one of the expansions long ago, the one that increased the level cap to 70, which is when everyone could get their flying mount, which in turn allowed everyone to -- via flight -- access a special end-game dungeon or quest area. But at level 68 I queued up for this content anyway. When the party was formed I was immediately ridiculed for queuing because -- as they claimed -- without a flying mount I was unable to fly to the content area and participate. Moron, idiot, noob, loser, and other choice derogatory terms were hurled my way, and so powerful was their righteous fury that they WOULD . . . NOT . . . LISTEN to my explanation, and after they felt they had dished out enough arrogant abuse I was g-kicked out of the group.
Of course my explanation was _yes_ , no one gets their flying mount until level 70, but I was playing a Druid, who get _Flight Form_ at level 68, which means I _could_ have participated in the content had they shut up and listened for one whole minute. After waiting a half hour so their dungeon run was over I PM'ed all four players, told them this, and asked them, "Who are the idiot noobs now?" No one replied, of course . . . bullies don't like to answer questions.
(During my time in WoW there were plenty of other examples of players who rabidly insulted because they had certain myths and paradigms about the game which were simply untrue, such as "Paladins aren't viable healers", and "Rogues should focus on Agility and Attack Power gear to be the most powerful". They were all wrong, of course. Dead wrong.)

Only level through Battle Pet quests! I know other people have done it before, but it'd be something that would meet the standards that this video did. When other people did this they said it took 200 days or so to do it, might be longer for lvl 80 unless you did the 25% Warband xp bonus.
Luckily, i already have the 25% cuz ive been leveling characters like crazy!

I leveled doing nothing but PET BATTLES On one toon, and another doing archeology/professions (herb-mining)

I got my Priest from 72 to 78 just gathering herbs and mining. This inspired me to try and do that from 70 to 80 on my next toon.

lol I remember when Dragonflight came out, and I had to gain 10 more levels, but I didn't want to play current content, I was busy completing old stuff. So I leveled from 60 to 70 with archeology, just picking artifacts flying around the Dread Wastes and the Townlong Steppes. I was surprised when I reached 70 pretty quickly, the content was old, but the experience was a lot
And I finally got my destroyer of worlds sword, yes I was flexing all along, you fell into my trap.
Random ways to level is always a beauty. Player choice is king :D
I have leveled fully through mining / herbing, and I have leveled from 60-70 during dragonflight doing archeology in panda-land
Ooo archeology. I've never even touched that in general, may have to look into it.

Sadly thee warband buff and warmode don't affect exploration exp. But its still ugly fast without them and just earthen :)
I leveled from 10 to 64 once doing archeology to get the bug mount lol around legion time.

I love this video, even if I thought you cheated with the xp and 19kills. I have a 70 Deathknight, that never joined the horde and still gets fruit thrown at him in cities.
I can assure you, if I actually killed those myself, I woulda restarted. But it happened to a few of the runs the kills just... appeared. In fact they went from 22 to 19 at one point. Randomly down? After i saw that i knew it was just a glitch.
The vegan run? Not the world tour? There and back again challange? I'v been everywhere challange.

I leveled a character (before prepatch xp changes) from 1-70 with only pet battles. I hit max level without spending talent point, and I didnt even choose a talent specialization!
If I remember correctly, I think it took close to 35 hours played
60-70 was ~23hours alone

Peak Vegan Exploration AKA PVE!
I wish we could level through crafting and gathering in WoW. Gathering provides XP, but I don't think crafting does. If it does, it is way too slow. Anyway, having more options to level is a good thing. As to your exploration leveling, it would be cool if Blizzard put little flags you could gather for extra XP around the world. It would also be cool to have exploration achievements or an achievement for leveling with zero mob kills.
They do have achievements for exploring everything in each expansion. But that's about it. And I wouldn't mind more ways to level like crafting. Player choice is king :D
@@SHAOLINCOWBOY-ip9hw Dragonflight and War Within crafting professions do give a little XP when you craft a recipe for the first time. But I'm unsure if you could even clear, let's say, 70-80 if you make literally every War Within recipe.
Back when Dragonflight launched people were exploiting this by leveling 2 professions, forgetting one, leveling a new one, and so on. Big gold sink but they got some headstart on the 60-70 leveling. So Blizzard nerfed the XP bonus. I don't know the numbers for War Within, maybe it's unnerfed, maybe it's nerfed.
@@CoyoteCael I just remember in the mmorpg Wild Star they had a Pathfinder profession that focused on exploration and there were flags around the world that only you could see that had speed boosts. there were also hidden caves and entrances only a Pathfinder could see. Basically, what I'm getting at is it would be cool if exploration in WoW was given a bit more love.

Theres a way to get lvl 70 without killing anything or doing something. Its called "buying a boost"
In MoP there was this one crazy guy who leveled all the way to max in the Panadaren starting zone by just doing herbalism. For me, that was one of the dumbest ways anybody has ever leveled.

Have you tried WoD treasures? Most of my WoD leveling on my alts was done by opening all the treasures in Draenor. Maybe they changed it since then, but otherwise that's a decent chunk of xp.
I have gotten them before, a big reason I chose BFA tho is the treasures showing up on the minimap. Makes it sooooo much easier, i owe my sanity to it lol
when pet battles were introduced i got 10 levels just pet battling in my garrison with halloween pets. I dotn think pet battles count as "kills"
