They apparently had quite a few ideas for these shorts, which would have served as a bridge for the time gap between DBZA S3 & DBZA Buu Saga, before the latter was cancelled. If I'm honest though... I think I'd prefer just the shorts.

The sight of a character that I like, someone who despite being made a bitch of constantly throughout the series, kept coming along to fights he knew he had no chance in because he honestly cared for the world more that his safety, hanging dead from the ceiling.............. abridged or not that sight will haunt me.

The saibamen were only about as strong as Raditz and Nappa was four or five times stronger, and in terms of raw power level on par with Goku at the time. The sole reason Goku crushed Nappa so easily was his use of the kaioken. Don't forget near the beginning of DBZA itself Vegeta said to Krillin "Good job, you just took out the equivalent of three Raditz. But he's worth five Raditz and I am worth fifteen Raditz."
Giving Yamcha a happy ending was really nice, but seeing Krillin in the stands supporting him (and 18 supporting Krillin supporting him) was supremely heartwarming.

Hell, the only reason Yamcha isn’t in the Baseball Hall of Fame is because *of course* he’d be better than literally everyone there. I can imagine Yamcha basically becoming an open secret when it comes to that, with him being too good for any Hall of Fame since he makes everyone look bad and effectively taking the sport out of Baseball.
I think people would call him the GOAT no doubt. No one has ever existed who hit triple digit homeruns consecutively even in a homerun derby AFAIK. Would he be inducted? I don't know, but I doubt he would care because you don't have to be a genius to know you're better than anyone who ever played the sport of baseball if you're Yamcha.

This is the first time Yamcha has ever heard these words said to him, and I never thought I needed to see a character succeed as much as I did with Yamcha. It might've been an unofficial parody series but this warms my heart regardless to see the guy who is seen as the bottom of the barrel get a happy ending
It may be unofficial, but I'd like to think DBZA may be one of the alternate universes in Dragon Ball. Somewhere in the multiverse there's a rich successful and happy Yamcha
You know those lists that keep popping up as Facebook advertisements? And you know how there's a glut of isekai right now? Apparently there's a doujin that's basically "That Time I Got Reincarnated As Yamcha". I assume it's exactly what it sounds like, and also exactly what you need in your life. I didn't look any further into it, because there is no way what it is is anywhere near as great as what I think it is.

"reincarnated as Yamcha" sits on the premise that Yamcha was in fact a lazy ass and that was his main flaw, but in reality Yamcha trained his ass off specially for the Saiyan saga, nevertheless he was killed by the lesser enemys, ones that were in there just to show how much Z fighters had grown in power...Toriyama really wanted to screw the character up. Back to the reincarnation, in that saga Yamcha "really trains" and then he reaches a power of around 8000 in the Saiyan saga, therefore becoming way usefull against Nappa and able to support Goku against Vegeta... but that wouldn't be enough to be usefull against Freezer, not to mention androids or even Cell... In this "parody" Yamcha gets a fair dosis of reality... a guy with his skills could outperform every other player in any sport, up to the point in were he would turn the sport (in this case baseball) into something way boring. A reasonable proposal from any team manager would be to fire Yamcha but also paying him to be away from any rival team... this is a reasonable "end" for his sport career

I mean the only time he was actually remotely antagonistic to yamcha was when damian was kicking the shit out of yamcha and didn't stop him. But in that specific moment he was channeling his inner vegeta with the saibamen situation which makes sense.
Cell is sympathetic to Yamcha. That does *not* mean he is not fully prepared to murder him along with everyone else on the planet. Cell just isn't interested in bashing or tormenting Yamcha just for being Yamcha like everyone else. Hell, the comment about Yamcha being on the list for Halftime Entertainment wasn't even so much meant as a shot at Yamcha as it was emphasizing how much he wasn't expecting to be made to fight Gohan. As far as not getting his way goes, and obviously being bitter over Goku & Gohan, I do think TFS's Cell would be genuinely happy for Yamcha to see this win for him.
I love how with how well off the 20 billion zeni left him, he not only managed to *buy the Hetap COMPANY* but also lets his friends eat as his *chain restaurant* for free, including Vegeta who is a Saiyan and has a huge appetite. And the best part is he can totally afford to let SAIYANS eat for free. That's how well off he is.

I just kinda realized something: these shorts really nailed home the idea that the "losers" and "weaklings" in the Z Fighters really have some of the best outcomes. Krillin is happily married to the woman who's arguably the hottest in the series, and they end up having a kid. Yamcha is one of the richest guys on Earth. Gohan learns to stand up for himself, even against Vegeta, as well as actually become content with his life, and is able to pursue his passions.
Huh. I never thought of it quite like that. Those guys might not be the "strongest" or whatever, but there's absolutely no reason they should be ashamed of that.
If we're being honest, Yamcha's physical abilities (though not on par with many of the other characters) set him far above most of the Earth's population. He should easily be able to make a living for himself
I don't think it's fair to say they have more respect for them than someone like Toriyama. He was forced into writing more for the story beyond what he wanted purely because people above him wanted more money. It would have all been over after Freiza if it wasn't for people who wanted to milk the franchise drier than the Sahara. In contrast, TFS who aren't governed by any higher power had the ability to say "You know what, while it's a risky choice, it's the right choice" and ended it when they felt they had nothing more to give to the series proper, and are now closing out in their way, not someone above them shouting "PRINT MORE MONEY SO WE CAN BUY ANOTHER BOAT"

But after 20+ years, when Battle of Gods movie and DBSuper started, he never really bothered think about fleshing out characters more. Toriyama, nor Toei, didn't even seem to remember that Yamcha was pro baseball player. And let's not even get started with poor Tien.

500 homeruns gets you into the hall of fame, a 1000 batting average sustained for almost an entire season, makes you the greatest hitter to have ever played by far and away.
The Hall of Fame would be named after him. There would be statues of him everywhere. The World Series runner up would be looked upon as the other champion because it’s already wrapped that Yamcha’s team is winning that year and the best the other teams could hope for is second place.

Y’know at first I thought it’s gonna be one of those “Losers gets a win but then loses” moments,. But it’s nice to see that TFS would treat their “loser” with respect. Also, it’s nice to see that Krillin is the one who cheers for him. It’s just refreshing to see those two be happy.

I love Krillen being hype for his buddy but I also love how even without him being in the short at all, the context the whole series provides lets you know that Goku would have made the most aggressive point he could muster being there for Yamcha too after Trunks made him aware that Yamcha can always do with more reminders that everyone cares about him.

I'll just say that he was way better to his friends when he got rich. When Sanchez got rich for a friends birthday he gave him a gift card to the gap, but when he finally gets rich he gives them free food and a barbecue chain. He deserves it. His loss record and subsequent stint as the most over-memed butt monkey of the franchise was due for a complete overhaul. They ditched the Krillin Owned Count, and now Yamcha is a rich, generous success story with more money than he knows what to do with. Krillin's hung, Yamcha's rich, and Vegeta's still an asshole. All is right with the TFS universe.
To be fair he was by no means the weakest, that honour goes to Tiens partner (forgot its name, creepy white doll character) but yeah Yamcha just happened to be the punching bag sadly.
I like that the closing scene implies Nappa was his manager, so they buried the hatchet and were both very successful. likely to spite Vegeta some how.
Dude this makes all the Dbz characters feel more human since they actually have life’s outside of fighting. Makes me all the more sad that the series ended but happy cause it ended the best way it could
It's always heartwarming to see the "Joke Character" receive a happy satisfying ending before a series concludes. Zoidberg from Futurama, Ted from Scrubs, and now Yamcha from the TFS Dragon Ball series... by far the best version of DBZ ever! To me, this is all canon!

They seem to be giving them all a happy ending, and a peaceful life, first Vegeta settling into a peaceful life, then Gohan and Chichi getting a new member to the family, then Krillin finally not being Yamcha 2 and getting someone he’ll marry, and now Yamcha is rich
Trunks told him that Yamcha hanged himself in his timeline after finding out Bulma was pregnant with Vegeta’s child. So Goku reminded him they’re friends so that knowing that at least one person cares about him would prevent him from going through with it. Good thing he did because now Yamcha can enjoy life as a billionaire.

At the end of the day, whilst they might make jokes about Krillin and Yamcha all day long when it comes to their woeful position in the superpowered-martial-arts hierarchy, TFS have always remembered that they're still thousands of times stronger than every regular human. Of course Yamcha would beat the hell out of the entire MLB.
1:59 is alot funnier now since Vegeta try to find Tien to fight him in the next episode and could've just ask Yamcha but didn't because he hates him, and ended with Vegeta being sad for not having someone to fight, while Yamcha happily became successful rich man. Ain't that something.

At a reds game last year i was at, a rookie named Aristides Aquino got 3 for 3 home runs and the pitcher did that on his forth up to bat. Literally the entire stadium erupted in boos. Yamcha's competitive enough (in canon) that he wouldn't LET them walk him. Hard to walk someone with a reaction time that makes the walk zone the entire wall between first, home, and third base. (Yes, I know you're not *supposed* to lunge/swing at something obviously outside the strike zone - but I couldn't see any of the Z fighters letting that slide for long)
I like to think that Yamcha is supporting Goku’s family as a thanks for everything he’s done and when he comes back he’ll always have free meals at his bar

Remember, Yamcha was there even when he was outclassed. He always tried to help. The man deserved more love than he got in Z. I wish the human Z Fighters were able to hold their own more often. At least Yamcha gets a good ending here.

The saibamen were only about as strong as Raditz and Nappa was four or five times stronger, and in terms of raw power level on par with Goku at the time. The sole reason Goku crushed Nappa so easily was his use of the kaioken. Don't forget near the beginning of DBZA itself Vegeta said to Krillin "Good job, you just took out the equivalent of three Raditz. But he's worth five Raditz and I am worth fifteen Raditz."

In 4 whole official series with over 100+ episodes in each of them two of them with well over 200+ episodes, possibly 15+ maybe official and not really official games, over 10+ semi-official movies, and an unofficial parody series. This is the first time Yamcha has ever heard these words said to him, and I never thought I needed to see a character succeed as much as I did with Yamcha. It might've been an unofficial parody series but this warms my heart regardless to see the guy who is seen as the bottom of the barrel get a happy ending
It may be unofficial, but I'd like to think DBZA may be one of the alternate universes in Dragon Ball. Somewhere in the multiverse there's a rich successful and happy Yamcha
You know those lists that keep popping up as Facebook advertisements? And you know how there's a glut of isekai right now? Apparently there's a doujin that's basically "That Time I Got Reincarnated As Yamcha". I assume it's exactly what it sounds like, and also exactly what you need in your life. I didn't look any further into it, because there is no way what it is is anywhere near as great as what I think it is.

"reincarnated as Yamcha" sits on the premise that Yamcha was in fact a lazy ass and that was his main flaw, but in reality Yamcha trained his ass off specially for the Saiyan saga, nevertheless he was killed by the lesser enemys, ones that were in there just to show how much Z fighters had grown in power...Toriyama really wanted to screw the character up.
Back to the reincarnation, in that saga Yamcha "really trains" and then he reaches a power of around 8000 in the Saiyan saga, therefore becoming way usefull against Nappa and able to support Goku against Vegeta... but that wouldn't be enough to be usefull against Freezer, not to mention androids or even Cell...
In this "parody" Yamcha gets a fair dosis of reality... a guy with his skills could outperform every other player in any sport, up to the point in were he would turn the sport (in this case baseball) into something way boring. A reasonable proposal from any team manager would be to fire Yamcha but also paying him to be away from any rival team... this is a reasonable "end" for his sport career

I just kinda realized something: these shorts really nailed home the idea that the "losers" and "weaklings" in the Z Fighters really have some of the best outcomes.
Krillin is happily married to the woman who's arguably the hottest in the series, and they end up having a kid.
Yamcha is one of the richest guys on Earth.
Gohan learns to stand up for himself, even against Vegeta, as well as actually become content with his life, and is able to pursue his passions.

If we're being honest, Yamcha's physical abilities (though not on par with many of the other characters) set him far above most of the Earth's population. He should easily be able to make a living for himself
Don't forget that Krillin's girlfriend/wife has a better character in this version than in Z. She feels... Much more ALIVE to me.

I don't think it's fair to say they have more respect for them than someone like Toriyama. He was forced into writing more for the story beyond what he wanted purely because people above him wanted more money. It would have all been over after Freiza if it wasn't for people who wanted to milk the franchise drier than the Sahara. In contrast, TFS who aren't governed by any higher power had the ability to say "You know what, while it's a risky choice, it's the right choice" and ended it when they felt they had nothing more to give to the series proper, and are now closing out in their way, not someone above them shouting "PRINT MORE MONEY SO WE CAN BUY ANOTHER BOAT"

I just realized something: if Yamcha was hitting nothing but home runs, then why didn't the pitchers just walk him? That's what they did to Barry Bonds.
Maybe they did at one point, but given his speed he'd be just as broken in stealing bases.
At a reds game last year i was at, a rookie named Aristides Aquino got 3 for 3 home runs and the pitcher did that on his forth up to bat. Literally the entire stadium erupted in boos. The reds did awful that whole year so it was nice that the one game i went to went well. They gave him, a rookie, walk up music within the week
Yamcha's competitive enough (in canon) that he wouldn't LET them walk him. Hard to walk someone with a reaction time that makes the walk zone the entire wall between first, home, and third base. (Yes, I know you're not *supposed* to lunge/swing at something obviously outside the strike zone - but I couldn't see any of the Z fighters letting that slide for long)
As weak as he apears Yamchas still very much super human.

I like to think that Yamcha is supporting Goku’s family as a thanks for everything he’s done and when he comes back he’ll always have free meals at his bar

And then comes the cruel twist of fate as Goku proceeds to bankrupt Yamcha's restaurant with how much he eats.
Goku just goes back to earth so he can eat whatever he can.

@@TheRopy8 Of course, but it was still likely a very major event in at least the area, so even though Nikkitown is now back to being the thriving city it was beforehand, it was likely a very traumatic experience for the world at large when everyone realized it happened.

It's because it's unusual to hear but also technically correct.
Remember, Yamcha was there even when he was outclassed. He always tried to help. The man deserved more love than he got in Z. I wish the human Z Fighters were able to hold their own more often. At least Yamcha gets a good ending here.

0:34 I love Krillin's reaction and him being there to support his friend. I'll admit these shorts weren't what I wanted before, but they've been amazing so far and I love that Yamcha finally got a win and a nice ending, which is more than the actual show ever gave him.
