    This week, we visit a penthouse home set in the low-lying Joo Chiat. Homeowner Brandon created and designed the space for his family of 3 - and incredibly did so without any drawings of the space. It’s a 1+1 room penthouse and at a size of 830 square feet, he had to get creative with the space. He knocked down everything that was possible to, and created an open and inviting wabi-sabi space. With neutral, simple tones, he opted for textured paint for the whole house, and vinyl floors.
    Most of the furniture in the house was custom built (like the sofa, dining table and TV console area). On the top floor, the open concept master bedroom features a unique slanted roof and the shower area which was previously the jacuzzi was repurposed into a cool outdoor shower. Finally, to make the space more usable, he built a glass roof over the yard area to form an interesting study area.
    Special thanks to Brandon for showing us around his inviting home.

    Beautiful home so warm and cozy! I love the feel and color of the textured paint. It reminds me of fire light against the walls of a cave when the warm strip lights hit it. 😍

    Not a single thing I didn't like about this house. This is my type of house. Comfy and beautiful. The designer didn't overdone anything. After watching thousands of home design videos, I found my perfect one.

    Given the constraints of the property, and some aesthetics not quite right for me, it has been utilised to it full potential for young family living. Good use of lighting to generate warmth. Nothing wild but bold and homely

    Nice reno and all but beats me as to why people would spend so much for a tiny apartment - worse...its for a family of 3..it is quite cramped. Rather spend the $$ on a 4/5 room resale or bto flat.

      Hello I'm the owner of the house. Most small condo penthouse have 2 toilets one upstairs and 1 downstairs. But alot of space is already taken up by the stairs. If we have another toilet downstairs it will be super cramp. We viewed lots of houses before deciding on this 1 because it only have 1 toilet which gives us alot more space to play with. Especially when we have a young kid. Haha

    Claims to use a lot of “natural materials”, claims uses a lot of “solid wood”, but uses cheap plastic floor which is what vinyl (PVC) is.

    Wabisabi is such a tired aesthetic. I am truly sick of it. Most of this I can find on pinterest or tiktok. Not sure they had to get handmade dining chairs that look exactly like the ones mass produced on taobao. You guys should feature more singles homes instead of couples.

    • @StackedHomes
      @StackedHomes  Рік тому

      We look forward to featuring homes of all demographics but sometimes it can be difficult to achieve that. We do have quite a few homes of singles, we're also looking out for big families but their schedules are a lot tighter understandably...
