I struggled with this too but it ended up being easy. On the rounded side of the connector (the side facing away from the battery) there is a little button on the silver part just above where the wire enters. It's probably covered by the blue plastic thing, but it doesn't matter. Just get a screwdriver and press lightly on it and the connector slides right off. Might not even need a screwdriver.

Almost any 12v 7ah or 9ah SLA (lead acid) battery would work, but so too would also a similar form factor or equivalent 12v lithium iron phosphate (lifepo4) battery, which would have more than three times the lifespan and a greater energy density than the original SLA battery. 😊
Hi Javier! ION recommends only using a replacement battery with the exact voltage & amp hour specifications that are listed in the "Technical Specifications" section of your speaker's User Guide. For the Pathfinder 320, one should only use a 12v 7Ah battery.
God Bless You All and Thank you

@SimmonsEnergy would the built in board for charging be enough to charge it? Thanks
lol you know it don’t pop out like that 😂
My stupid ion block rocker doesn’t use a screwdriver.
Just bought this speaker at costco for 99
TERRIBLE RADIOS. ALWAYS NEEDS BATTERY REPLACEMENT.
What is the connector type for ion explorer Fx, is it F1 or F2? Trying to buy a new battery
Hi Victor! The Explorer FX uses a 12V 7aH sealed lead acid battery with F1 terminals.
Can one install a 9Ah battery to this model or does it have to be an identical 7Ah battery replacement??
