What an absolute banger! Sure they have made some amazing, atmospheric downtempo industrial in the past, but this really shows their versatility in producing. Love the track TOA!
Pretty interesting to see the comments below. Just for fun I've been checking out the 25 years Thunderdome aftermovie, listened to the song and searched for it. Actually this is the first time for me to hear about TOA, so it's completely fresh, I don't have any comparison to the work he did before. The music I listen to more likely is Tribe/Acid/Speedcore/Noise/IDM , so this one was sth exotic for me. The interesting thing is, that the same development as in other genres is happening here (at least it's what the comments below state): The (I call it) Skrillex-tendency of baselines/styles. Even I don't like this style too much, it's too easy to say that "all the new stuff is shit and not real anymore", since everything is changing, so the character and art of an artist, the aesthetics of a genre does. This one is technically great work. It seems really innovative to me, fine and delicate, good tension bows created within the song, (almost) noisish elements and a good portion of proper breaks, even it mirrors the plastic-society a bit. All in all, still a pleasure to analyse/listen. The Outside Agency are two guys. They release their solo and duo (industrial) Hardcore tracks usually as The Outside Agency, while their unique aliases, Eye-D & DJ Hidden, are reserved for Drum'n'Bass. This track is really just them screwing around with the new uptempo/raw trend that came up a few years ago. If you listened to more of TOA, you'd immediately notice it's produced by them. Especially DJ Hidden has an unique style that permeates every genre he approaches. I'm not sure you'd enjoy Eye-D's or Hidden's stuff in general, but there are some older ones I must recommend. Just because TOA are fucking legends and it's a shame you never heard of them. ua-cam.com/video/4BOirws7qgA/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/9g6TSiWLDWo/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/D157xCwJ8yk/v-deo.html I really forgot about Venetian Snares btw, thanks for reminding me to binge listen to his stuff again :D
I always liked the transitions, the switches, the overall awesomness of ToE productions. However I can't abide by the fact, that kicks in this track resemble the new "wow" of raw style kicks that the scene seems to follow now days. Even though I would most likely never be able to produce such a track, a track of pure studio genius, I can't say I like the kicks and the overall atmosphere they build. :/
I really don't like the way that TOA is going. Their old work had such a great atmosphere and some really original kicks whereas now they're just following the uptempo and RAW-ish trends.
mrCommando, TOA has already bought an unbelievable amount of crossbreed & industrials tracks . Don't you think they can produce something new @ some point ? they still release quality stuff in a more "classic" way AFAIK (ie : Genosha One Seven Five #015 ). yes this track use raw elements but it's very well produced and original. something fresh actually :)
Maybe they adapt to the hardcore audience while having fun? With all their others quality and complex less popular projects from techno to DnB, they just throw fast beats and funny themes for the hardcore. I also regret The Dogs Are Listening, but as long as Hidden, My_Initials and GITM delivers, I'm fine (Eye-d too even if less iconic and active bw)!
Hmm i actually quite enjoy this. And i absolutely love their old work too. Got some records still lying around from Genosha. This isn't just your normal average uptempo in my opinion.
@@26yd1 of course I'm two years late, but I wonder why you dislike The Dogs are Listening. Yes, it has those few dubstep-like tracks which sound very different to TOA's usual stuff, but in general it's a very solid and diverse album in my opinion.
This whole bullshit with facebook data leaks exposes that everything is, at least on a more fundamental level, political. Don't do that 'why is everything about politics?' bullshit. that doesn't mean we should be about it all the time, but I think TOA has done a nice job introducing a shred of political debate in this song. I do believe political songs tend to have a short lifespan if the artist isn't all about, so maybe this shouldn't be worth that much of a buzz.
To me, not the style (to be honest the sound's not satifsing) the problem, i closely like all - not just hardcore sub-genres - music. Actually the build and the production are poorly taken care of to my ears. I also think that it does not makes me a so-called 'hater'. P.S.: i do not have a single idea why always everybody comes up with politics and keep arguing on that.
Politically driven tracks in Hardcore music have existed for decades and while this one is, not every TOA track is a politically driven one. Seems normal to me, so what's your problem?
But the scene has (almost) never been politized, always about having fun with friends back in the days when it was the "gabber" subculture (the "united hardcore against racism and fascism" wasn't a political statement to defend a side but to kick out one by necessity, just to separate them so they can't parasite anymore) and has no intellectual statements since it's a capitalist industry of course. Even today's industrial hardcore scene is one of the only underground scene without political statements, frenchcore lost its left-wing feel when it was no more a derivation of hard-tek but also hardcore and Peacock stated a new mainstream trend. You're left with digital hardcore openly leftist, almost inexistent and not really included into hardcore subgenres before Ambassador 21's shift... and breakcore with some hippie-anarcho-punk tendencies, we've seen more political scenes! Note that I mean openly political, not to deny everything is political and the scene is indirectly like everything in the world except raw science data.
I could not agree more. I like hardcore and crossbreed and drum and bass for it's.. informational purity. I don't need fucking political shit in my extremely overpowered music that is generally supposed to send no message but power and energy.
Still the most brutal way to tell people, what you think about DT and his followers, without being actually violent. Masterpiece!
Guess we had to come back to this at some point 😂😂
Afraid so... 🤷♂️
The more I hear/listen this track, the better it gets. Thanx to Thunderdome!
This is just phenomenal!!!!!!!!
with the unmistakable vocals of the talented "MC Trump"
Hahahahahaha,At Least He's Good Sumfin'.
Donny ft MC Trump :D
Whatever sub-genre or new wave music they think of, TOA always does it better.
