This week, I'm continuing with my 1890's Summer Ensemble, and I'm assembling the actual bodice. I am using Black Snail's 1890's Day Bodice pattern as my base, and elaborating from there to achieve my ideal summer bodice look.

Event idea: All the reallly slllllooooowwww hand sewers can meet in head to head competition! You and Noelle-Costuming Drama- should be a tournament draw! P.S. Abbey Cox should be the 'judge/mcc" because she is the fastest handsewer and she is so painfully funny!
Omg I love this idea.
@@LadyRebeccaFashions Tell us when and where and be sure to have lots of seating. I'm thinking it will take a good sized arena. :)
That bodice is going to look stunning!!! And again congratulations on getting back at the theater!
That blue leaved blouse is amazing on you. I'm thinking you're a summer. Clear, cool intense colors.
Thank you! So glad you are back in the theatre. Sewing should be fun so I encourage you to sew what you want.
This is really coming together nicely now. Some things you can fly through, but others take time and thinking. So just enjoy what your doing .I always enjoyed the challenging ones rather than the simple fast pieces .This I am sure will be gorgeous 🥰
They really did like complicated in the 1890’s…….but you’ve got it. Can’t wait. Hi Lion
I am happy with any content that you put out. I am loving ❤ how the bodice is coming along. I like it better than the drawings even.
What you can, when you can is great by me. Love anything you do.
I love how many of the issues with gaps and extra fabric can just be fixed with slapping padding under it! I never knew what a plastron was or that it was called that. It’s so pretty! I just want every one of my shirts to have one (only maybe not all the way to my neck. Ha ha Ha)
This is Gwenhwyfar - new account!
Take the time you need and enjoy life! I'm happy to have little updates as things progress.
What a lovely top! I wouldn't however shorten it, mostly because I remember having short tuck in tops and lifting my arm and it pulling out. Now with all the under things you wouldn't be showing skin, but still ....
Absolutely loving what you're doing with this bodice! This is going to be lovely on you! What a delightful chance that I came across your channel. It just makes me so happy! We didn't have UA-cam back when we were learning to sew, and trying to figure out historical garments from pictures, so we fumbled around quite a bit. One thing we did have, though, was a perfect live dress form. We were (very) identical twins, so fitting on each other worked really well, and it was great to be able to see a mock-up in motion. One of the many benefits of twinhood. We had so much fun! Thanks for bringing back to memories!
the antique "sally dress"
I totally respect not dropping a current project because OOH SHINY NEW PROJECT! ... I often use the shiny new project as my reward for finishing the current project... sometimes that's the only way I don't end up with a giant heap of UFOs instead of some wearable garments...
Yep, that's how I tend to work as well -- if I finish this project, then I get to work on this next project.
It’s looking good.
Loving the froufrou! Choosing dotted Swiss was a great selection
Moofing. Very useful technical term. Right up there with Floopy. Can't wait to see how you work through the rest of this. I have a Worth gown I'd like to make that has one of these crazy layered necklines. Break a leg!
I love the look of this bodice 😍
Off topic: last trip to Target I saw a plaid wrap dress that reminded me of your 1915 summer dress, without the scalloped ruffles. Yours is much prettier.
It's looking good
I'm really liking the gathering on that front piece😊 and I'm really REALLY excited for all your spooky project's🎃🎃🎃
I absolutely love the dress you are wearing with the yellow belt! Did you make that? If so was there a video and can you direct me to it ❤
Thank you! That's one of my new eshakti dresses, paired with a belt from the thrift store. ☺️
Yay top 10 to like and comment
Can you show how you construct the plastron? I’m using the same bodice pattern and I have never made a plastron.
I changed pretty much everything from what was on the pattern. I think the only thing I kept the same was pulling up the outer fabric (though I changed the shape of it, and the location of the gathering stitches) to fit the under fabric. They have you do a facing on one side, and have stitch lines where it attaches to, and I didn't follow any of that.
I have seen your video about making case a of gapped open blouses nice, listening only wants me to make a blouse with alternate buttons what do you think?
I think that would work just fine. Just keep in mind that the reverse ones are more difficult to do up.
@@LadyRebeccaFashions And to remember duh.
I know you have plans for Halloween sewing but the Sally dress would sill be a future episode still
:)
How are rehearsals going?
Really well! I think we have about half the show blocked at this point!
@@LadyRebeccaFashions Yaaaay!
