Interestingly the races of Cyrax and Sektor are switched around in Defenders and MK9. I guess there was a miscommunication or they realized if they wanted Sektor to be the Lin Quai grandmaster's son, he'd have to look like him.

Yeah, they didn't do Johnny Cage much justice in this sequel. Just like in Mortal Kombat Annihilation. The only difference is that Johnny survived in this sequel. They had a good start with Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion's Revenge, but like many sequels, they just didn't build on it. They simply rushed it through and packed in as many of the characters as they could. I think it would have been better to have made this into a trilogy or a 5-part miniseries. That way, they could have fleshed out the characters more and get us more involved in the story. In the Mortal Kombat reboot, 9, 10 and 11, they really gave Johnny an upgrade in character development and you really started rooting for him to succeed.
