- The Yorkshire Terrier is a small dog breed of terrier type, developed during the 19th century in Yorkshire, England, to catch rats in clothing mills.[3] The defining feature of the breed is its maximum size of 7 pounds (3.2 kg),[4] although some may exceed this and grow up to 15 pounds (6.8 kg). It is placed in the Toy Terrier section of the Terrier Group by the Fédération Cynologique Internationale and in the Toy Group or Companion Group by other kennel clubs, including the American Kennel Club. A popular companion dog, the Yorkshire Terrier has also been part of the development of other breeds, such as the Australian Silky Terrier. It has a grey, black, and tan coat, and the breed's nickname is Yorkie. -

We had a little boy…Bubba…the love of our life. We lost him at 15 to a rare, inoperable, non- cancerous tumor and it broke our hearts! There are no words for how much you love and are loved by these wonderful little dogs. Our son bought us a little girl, 10 weeks old, we were hesitant but couldn’t help but fall in love all over again. She has literally never given us a problem from day one! Just show her once and she has got it! Bindi has brought the light and laughter back into our lives and I know bubby is smiling in heaven. 💖👍👍🙏

I have a rescue that I got at 7 months. He will be 18 months the end of September. Absolutely a fantastic breed. I have wanted one so long. He is my heart. His name is Milo.
We have a yorkie named Mr. Darcy. He’s a little bigger than most at 9lbs. Very smart and never had to house break him. Got him at 12wks and he never made a mess or cried 1 time the first night we had him. Never had a mess at night ever after that.
My Yorkie taught my Llaso Apsos how to use the doggie door. They are so smart and affectionate

We had two incidents where this female German shepherd was left out tied to the pole out in the rain. She recently given birth to uppies. Same happened to a little shih tzu boy because he had an skin issues. I am a dog lover and its very sad to know that these sort of devil's abuse these beautiful creatures

I have a shih tzu boy who is now one and a half year. I've bought him when I he was 5 months old through pets4home his name "Sherra" given by my late mother.He is my best friend, my sweetest sweetheart was love at first sight. When I saw him first time I was fallen for him. Since my life has changed for the best. He's a good boy i adore him.

Hello Yorkie lovers... I had a boy Yorkie, pure bred...his name was Danny-boy, had him for 18 years... died from old age. Loved this guy so much... I have no word to express the bond we had.... It took me few years even to consider having another Yorkie... I still feel the pain of losing my dog every day... since I live in a dog friendly neighborhood....Now I am looking for a rescue or shelter Yorkie... or giveaways for people who couldn't keep their Yorkie...I have been to all the shelters in my area, Craigslist, and every where online... ....If you know...Please Help. My most loved pure bred adorable Yorky is 7 years old…..but everybody, including him thinks he is just a baby boy. That is until someone rings the bell, or wants to leave the house or is trying to get in or……the foxes are near by…..then he become a defensive weapon that’s barks like a Doberman. He’s always by my side. My little friend and companion and sometime my naughty boy.

I just lost my Yorky, Romeo. A family couldn't have him any more and they gave him to me. I've had him at least 10 years and he goes through A lot with all the changes that come in my life. The x owner was at my friends house while I was there. He is getting older but still eating and walking and very aware. Not ready for the grave and when he piddled on my friends floor so she put him outside, that's when the x owner snatched him up, not letting me see him every time I asked which was about 2 days. He finally let me see him and when I set him down on the ground to go pee he couldn't even stand! It was like his legs were BROKE. Very sad. The @#$÷@%@@! Who had him snatched him up not letting me NEAR HIM and he died the next day.... He was fine til that guy took him from me. I am so beside myself I can't believe my baby is gone. I'll see him at Rainbow Bridge, if it exists.
Leeloo, our 8mth old, is independent, patrols the garden, chases cats and adores playtime more than anything
Seeing this after having Yorkies all my life I am so happy that docking tails is illegal now where I live. My first Yorkie still had a docked tail and the communication of emotions is so much more prominent with an intact tail. I feel pity for the dogs in this, hopefully, old material

Yorkies are indeed adorable, faithful and courageous! Mine was just as determined as the rest of her breed - nothing deterred her from being first - first across the creek, even if she had to swim the water to beat the bigger dogs using the bridge!!! Even against pit-bull crosses this dog was determined to hold her own - lucky for her these three pits had been well-trained & did not attack the noisy little beast barking away in front of them; but, it sure shocked both of us when it appeared that the large contingent of pitbull crosses were just as free, from restraint, as Susie herself was! Oops!! After a quick sniff, the large dogs decided to just go on their own way - leaving Susie to return to me - & safety?!!
My Yorkie was attacked by a German Shepherd. My niece tried to save her but the other dog tore open her stomach. I still haven't got over her death. I love you, Squeaky, now and forever. We had 13 great years.

She weighs 12lbs. Full of energy...I walk her for 30 minutes a day...trying to get some weight off....but she just hangs around 10 to 12 lbs.

I tried to keep mine long. I found out that I was brushing him at least 10 x a day so now he gets shaved.
This breed is hard to potty train. It barks like crazy.
I had one Yorkie that was fast if he saw a mouse. He nailed it immediately and dispatched it with one shake of his head. My other Yorkies have no idea what to do if they saw one.

The breed was used as a ratter. In material factory. They didn't destroy the materials, like a cat would. They killed a lot of rats though

Yorkies are my favorite small breed of dog. I had a 3 1/2 pound male that thought he was a 120 pound Boerboel, lol. He was very intelligent and extremely protective of me, especially when I was sleeping. Yorkies are fantastic dogs and we are debating if we should get another one soon. With all of the short type of videos on UA-cam it was refreshing to watch a longer, extremely well made production. Thank you.

Kim Anderson Iam so sorry for your loss. I just lost my beloved poodle Truffles. Please get a rescued dog. You will know the health needs and personality. I fostered a total of 19 dogs and theyall got great homes and and they ere very affordable and vetted for the whole first year!
Go to a Animal shelter and adopt one .They will ask for a adoption or donation fee. The Fee will be less than the prize of buying a puppy and is needed to continue services and care for the shelters animals medical care, foods, and supplies. Look and also call several shelters to make sure they have the type of dog you're looking for there. Try North Shore Animal League ,ASPCA, or Any shelters .I wish you the Best.
Sorry about your yorkie😭❤️. you should try to adopt one, many dogs need a caring and loving home but if they don’t have any yorkies for adoption the you should try Craigslist they have many good deals there I recently got two yorkies from Craigslist the only thing is that on Craigslist there are many scams it took me quite a bit to find a real Yorkie if you see an ad for a yorkie on Craigslist make sure the yorkie ad on Craigslist dosent have more than about 3-4 sentences or it’s probably a scam also if the picture of the puppy has a very nice background it maybe is also a scam last if you text or email the person selling the pups and they answer your text or email by saying “yes we still have them they are very healthy and happy they need a loving home I need to ask some questions about your work schedule or if you have a vet and also promise me to love them and take very good care of them” they will also say that they relocated to a far away place so they will have to ship it to you DO NOT send them ANY of you information if all that happens it is probably a scam also don’t buy a pup before going to see it in person

So , mine workers in Yorkshire would travel to Scotland to for work . The mines were in poor conditions …so they came up with a plan .
They started breeding other dogs, and they finally ended up with the this prototype of a little yorkie.
Miners would bring them with them every day to work so each miners Yorkie would clear a path for them by killing the rats, and keeping the miners from harmful diseases the rats carried.
Some genealogist and other scientist’s have investigated concerning their coat origin.
The theory stated the following :
Cobalt literally stained the prototype of yorkies due to the miners petting them as a reward for bringing back vermin, and, of course, out of love and for their help the miners would pet them them constantly on their backs and obviously their hands were filthy with cobalt from the mine.
Trust me, I have studied intensively about this breed And researched it abroad to Yorkshire and Scotland.
This is Why they love squeaky toys because it’s in their genes.

I married my wife a little over 30 years ago. She had a small Yorkie and it was a matter of take me, take my Yorkie. We have had a total of 4 with 2 currently with us. I love them and have really loved having them in my life. Not so sure about the wife. (Just kidding) 😊😊😊
I love mine but .... He is impossible to pee train ... He goes outside but I have to use. Wrapps on him because he pees all over the house... if I don't use the diapers .... So I get. Xs size wraps at Wal-Mart and. A band type Velcro wrap ( off Amazon) to use over it cause his waist is so tiny. The diaper won't stay on with out the band .
He is so jumpy and won't sit still unless sleepy. My favorite is the Chihuahua but the yorkie. Comes is second. ...
Have you tried to use pee pads my little one goes on the pee pads he's been doing it for 6 years. I had two Yorkies before him and they went on them also.
I understand as I had the same problem but just after he turned 1 year he suddenly stopped peeing inside. But till leave pee mat I use to get from pets at home. Take your furry to the pee mat and tell him that this is the pee point for him. If he takes time to learn be patient he'll be able to. They are very intelligent creatures and understand a lot. Yorkies are the cutest, sweetest, smartest little dogs. I lost mine and am broken hearted. I can't get another dog because I couldn't love another dog like I loved him. He was my world. My vet even said he never saw a dog and owner with such a strong bond. Sonny was so friendly and looved everyone. He weighed 4lbs.and lived 14 yrs.

That is what I was going to write. Where are their tails! It is definitely abuse. Do not buy a York with a chopped tail, that is the only way to teach the sellers.

My puppies mother had her hair cut crudely with scissors. Her back color has become silver grey.
It usually changes from black (when they're puppies) to silver (when they're grown dogs).
