Wow. This brought tears to my eyes. I heard this song a year or so back and absolutely fell in love. I'm Tongan (I actually found out recently from DNA test that I'm quite a bit Samoan too lmao), I've always been a sucker for the OG, choir-style songs of the islands. My first Tauolunga was to a song with so much spirit and soul like this (Hala Kuo Papa). This is my favorite samoan song. Beginning this year I got engaged, my fiancé is samoan. I have been desperately looking for the choreography to this song because I want to surprise my in laws on the day of our wedding. I know they would appreciate this song specifically because it reminds them of their youth. I only found one but it wasn't a full dance... eventually I gave up. I've been watching your beautiful siva videos for some time now. I clicked on this one because I never noticed it before... and when this song started playing and I realized you were going to siva... I started crying. This is absolutely beautiful. Because I grew up so far away from the motherland and never fully learned Tongan, I've been watching youtube videos of different Polynesian dances and practicing them in my room for a few years now, lol! Makes me feel a little more connected. Like I still have that spirit in me too, even if I grew up far away. Thanks for sharing your art, it's so moving and inspiring. Please keep posting!
Estelle, love how you have included your Nana into your life story. You captured moments that are very rare to come across now adays! Malo le fai aiga lelei ma le tausi Matua:-) I have loved watching your life story and your perspective of your journey thus far. Its motivating, inspiring for the young tamata'I samoa. Your journey tells a story of Christ, a story of humble beginnings, it's illustrates history, family ties, mana, decisions ae maise lou faasinomaga.Manaia le lua siva, faafetai Estelle le fa'aeaea o ou Matua, lou nuu ma lou ekalesia, faafoi atu le viiga I lē e ona le viiga :-)
Sui faiga ae tuman pea le fa'avae. So true. Maybe some people will disagree with idea of change, but change is always happening all the time. Ancestor will be acknowledging the fact the modern day era is acknowledge where they started. Thats passion which the generation today are doing, embracing and honouring where honour is dew.
THE TEN PEOPLE WHO DISLIKED THIS are stiff as rocks when they dance and they cant stand it. As soon as I saw this adorable lady's face it was an immediate thumbs up. Even in the way she speaks its so graceful. Makes me miss my mom. Thank you for this! Love to you all.
Natalie, you are gifted never stop dancing! This is one of the best ive seen in a while. For all of us who have trouble translating, and for those who don't understand Samoan could you provide a translation and lyrics? I couldn't find any anywhere.....I am trying to teach my daughter this song.
Awww I love you Vasa! Missed you at Ward conference on Sunday💙One of the old matriarchs in our ward that stood by me through my pregnancy with my eldest💙
Culture and every aspect of it changes and evolves over time. The culture that we had say 1000 of year ago was way different than what we have today, but we still call it a "Samoan" culture. The fundamentals remain but how we do or perform it can change from time to time. "E tumau faavae ae suiga faiga".
I hope to learn how to dance so I can dance for my parents when I graduate. Not sure where to begin but I guess my best bet is finding a Samoan group on campus. It's very beautiful and graceful, I'm just sad I waited so long to show interest in my culture.
Jeremiah 29:11. ❣ Loved how you wrapped it all up by showing us your nana. How precious is She!!!! 😭. I really enjoyed these episodes. Kinda don't want it to end, lol. God bless, ❣ Xx
I am so loving these episodes coming out and its another way for me to learn more about my samoan culture and learn more and more. I love how you incopperated your nana into your SIVA LAIA PROJECT and bringing up moments like those you will treasure forever ❤️❤️. Hope your staying safe I pray that god will contunie to guide you over and making more of these episodes along the way 🙏 God bless x
