Exactly ! the solo melo of that INTRO it's just BEAUTIFUL to reproduce on an acustic .. absolutely !t as it passed unnotice to me then ... now am working on it .. as guitar PROs use to say "in music what looks simple to play it isn't .. and what complicated so simple" but not in this case with Feel so good .. That intro IS WORK !

I loved the guitar solo. I didn't know who Chuck Mangione was until King of the Hill. Checked it out and LOVED it. Might have been of those things like Steely Dan that was a gateway to Jazz for me.

I loved the song when it first came out. I was in my late 20's when it came and was a semi professional guitarist. Your arrangement and performance is fantastic. Very nice.
I loved the guitar solo on that record back in the day. This arrangement is satisfying to hear and I like the rhythmic thumping that Jake does in his solo playing.
Yeah Chuck and Herb Alpert put out some cool pop hits back then, kind of resurrecting the horn jazz/pop style…Weather Report, SpyraGyra, kind of hit w pop jazz. Hence our West Coast smooth jazz stations, lights out L.A. Anyways I used to play this in a band back then, disco was popular, was all over the place, we had horns, sax and trumpet/trombone, great players to, so we did some songs that let them showcase their talents. I dug it, I liked whenever I got away from playing the Billboard Top 10 and had a chance to say plays one George Benson like “ Give Me The Night” was a hit so we’d do that, few others. Me and my best friend on bass, and the other fellas, great too, but older than us, we were right out of high school, hit the road a week later, met Taste Of Honey gals, and The Doobie Bros, and The Cars, were playing at the same hotel in Petosky Michigan, great time indeed, talked w JohnMcfee, good player. Nice job on this song, your as well are a very accomplished player. I too like you always wanted to rock, now more than ever since I’m 61. Man went to see Ace Freehly and Alice Cooper, just brings back that driving spirit of youth which I like. I was always wanting to play blues and hard rock, and always did on the side on my own, I had to learn songs for the band as needed, but in the meantime I was nothing but rocking. Thank you
G'day from New Zealand again...yet another amazing rendition of a classic from my youth and you have made it just incredible and fresh and new. Thank you very much for your beautiful music, All the very best for the rest of the year.

Great rendition Thanks! I was searching on tutorials on playing the acoustic guitar intro. I remember this "old people" song from my high school days when I would play the cassette tape over and over till it wore out. I guess I was already an old people back then. Now that you're old enough to appreciate such music, you do a great job of playing it.

and Grant Geissman who's guitar solo on Feels So Good later got into TV and Film scoring and can hear him all the time on the show "Two and a Half Men". Then in the Dr Strange movie I loved his comment on Feel So Good... who thought a guy could get a number one record playing flugel horn.
Jake, my father played trumpet and I heard this song a fair bit growing up. As a late bloomer to king of the hill I was surprised to hear it on the show! Great rendition. Really good stuff as always!

I feel a whole lot different about Mr. Mangione back in the 70's and early 80's. I also felt Chuck chose very gifted supporting musicians, in the sax player, bass, drums, and certainly Grant Geissman, the guitarist. The sax solo, flugel horn, and guitar parts in "Give It All You Got" were stellar and that tune of course served as the theme song for the U.S. winter olympics team in '80 I believe. Geissman is a well known West Coast session player and has performed with Gordon Goodwin's Big Phat Band, and recorded on his own, and has become known in smooth jazz circles. I wouldn't disparage or diminish Mr. Mangione's music....he was a moving part in the fusion of rock, jazz, and the art of soloing.....in general.
@@JakeReichbart The inference we drew from someone's comment below from way way back was less than flattering; otherwise I wouldn't have chimed in with some facts and insights I perceived as missing. A lot of folks comment from an uninformed point of view. Mangione was top notch and his band mates were equally stellar on their instruments.

I'm sure he could tap his foot but when he's not thumbing a bass note or playing melody lines it likely helps him keep rhythm as it seems he has assimilated the heart of different instruments and lyrical content from the songs he covers.
They certainly don’t make music like this No more. Not structured smooth melody with raw live band. They don’t create Melodie’s like this either. There are BETTER musicians TODAY. Although NOT as creative. Today’s smooth Melodie’s come from electronic music. Do they ever create smooth beautiful music anymore without using ‘music software space ambience’ effects? NO! Apparently your taste changed for better. I remember going to soccer practice when this song first came out on radio. The melody grabbed me instantly. And I hated horns even in 70s , (I wanted to see hear Jimi Hendrix feedback). Then ace frehley guitar solo ‘green glow’ before confetti shot up came down covering everyone front. Younger guys don’t know ACE frehley. Good guitarist first Kiss alive influenced byChet Atkins licks. But this was totally different. In the same way younger guys have NO concept of uli jon Roth. Uli roth is more capable of keeping up with ‘Shawn lane’ in the same way Guthrie govan or Tim Henson can. Over a track like comfortably numb Tim Henson is absolute terrifying. In same way Shawn lane is ‘once upon time in the west’ ‘Comfortably numb’ requires no thinking. Comfortably numb is like sleeping in B minor, notes (scale) never goes out of key

but I refered to the super slow solo of that INTRO trobador guipsy soft play
Are there any tabs for this?
West Coast Swing (WCS). =)
What is the purpose of hitting the strings with your right hand ?
Claudia Chavez Jake does get carried away with that much more than he should sometimes-
I'm sure he could tap his foot but when he's not thumbing a bass note or playing melody lines it likely helps him keep rhythm as it seems he has assimilated the heart of different instruments and lyrical content from the songs he covers.
It's like the snare drum, taking on that rhythmic role.
To keep rythm but it also sounds really good. I wish I was able to play like that
Where's the Grant Giessman solo?
In the original recording.
WHEN SOMEONE HELPS YOU FIND SOMETHING YOU LOST
