This is great work of course, but honestly, I feel like this interpretation kills the slow climbing tension in the piece. It is just too soft to build up for the climax feeling.
I was wholly unprepared for this combination of instruments to move me this much....such a delicate and pure voicing. I'm wiping tears from my eyes in the middle of a work day. Bravo
Every time I listen to a group playing this piece, I always pay attention to the Viola part. Some groups that only use 4 parts leave out the Viola part which by the end, always leaves me wanting. I think the huge build up towards the end really depends on the viola being heard. It's already a beautiful conversation between the top three voices with the lower voices remaining sturdy. But having that third voice really trying to squeeze in there with the top two as if to say, "Hey I have something to say too!" really puts it over the top for me. Also I really appreciated the dynamics. Again that build up is even more dramatic because of being soft enough to really grow into a very dramatic section, and then go back down quietly. Probably my favorite other than the original. (Now excuse me as I watch this another 30 times!)
Perfect playing, but somehow this transcription is actually sadder than the original. The original is sad, but is somehow more hopeful. I don't know why, but that's how I feel it.
I just heard my high school marching band's redition of this with sax AND trumpet. I am not a crybaby ... but it made me sob, they were so good. The sax was caramel and the trumpet was vanilla. Just sounded perfect and I wanted them to play it over and over.
What are your first associations with this interpretation of 'On the Nature of Daylight'?
It’s reminded me of the movie Melancholia
A beautifull landscape!

Well, it's been used in many movies and tv series. among which are Arrival and Black Mirror
Pain

What an extraordinary arrangement and performance. The cello and saxophone sonorities are highly complementary.
Unglaublich schön! Ich bin jedes Mal tief berührt. Diese Feinheit und Ausdruckskraft! Ganz grosses Kompliment an diese wunderbaren Musiker!

I prefer the sax version of this, it just makes it feel way more emotional. Amazing ❤️
Beautiful music. It's like the dawning of a new day.

Amazing!!
I’ve never heard it before, so for my first time this is so calming and relaxing, brilliant controlled musicality! How can i get the music?
Excellent!!

It is because a wind instrument is more related to human voice. You can actually hear a man mourning.
