- I've had my GoPro Hero 12 for a whole month, and used it quite a bit. What have I noticed? What have I experienced with it? Is it reliable? Does it work with The Remote? What does 2.7k/240 look like slowed down? Slow motion smoke show!

Yea that file size would be a big time saver especially when your trying to sync up different cameras. That slow mo with the smoke was very smooth for sure. Thanks for the info.

The GoPro 11 does limit the file size to 12gb both the black and mini. I understand the reason they can do this over previous GoPro's is that they have changed the formatting of the SD card from fat32 (max file size 4gb) to fat64 (possible max file size over 1tb). So it is possible to have even larger file sizes in future GoPro's.
That totally makes sense - thanks for the explanation! I bet the 12gb limit is due to one or more operating systems [I remember Windows 2000 having a 2gb file size limit, for instance].
I just ordered one of Amazon to vlog with my semi truck. I currently have GoPro 4 so this will be a big jump forward.

I'm not sure if my 11's limit file size, I've never looked but I believe they create a file for every 10min of recording. So far I still feel like the 11 is the sweet spot for the time. I'll revisit once the 12 fixes all it's issues
I have an 11 also. I did not see any reason to upgrade. I'll upgrade once they give us a bigger sensor.
What Res/FPS do you shoot at? That'll be the difference between my 17 mins and your 10 - so you're probably getting the 12gb files. FWIW, my 9 & 10 get about 5.5 mins of recording per 4gb file, at 2.7k/30.
The 11 is good, from what I've seen, but like you with the 12, the 11 wasn't worth the upgrade for me. I'll check out your review of the 13 when you get it ;)

@@BikesBeardsAndBrews Yep, that'll do it. That high resolution and framerate lowers the length of each video. 10 minutes per video clip is still impressive. I bet it makes editing a bit easier as well.
Hey John!, Hero 11 here and large files too! First thing I noted. I usually shoot at 1080p/30fps, which it means almost 8gb every 30mins. First problem with the Hero 12, it's not showing up yet!, I expect it to arrive this week!
Thank you for letting me know about the big files! I was SHOCKED when I first saw that! Wow, 30 minutes per file? That's awesome! Any reason you don't shoot in 2.7k or 4k?

@@RoadRealityBecause I live in a third world country. Sometimes I miss my dial up connection, it was faster. Seriuosly, that's why. I won't shoot in 4k if I can't watch 4k. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I have a powerful computer than can handle 4k edition because my daughter is studying 3d animation, yeah, I try, but she don't want to make anything for my channel. But the internet... Dude, it sucks big time.

I have the 11. I'm super happy with it. I thought about getting the 12, but until they make the sensor size larger I will stick with what I have.
Good call! I've heard rumors of a "Pro" model GoPro... so, a GoProPro? :D Anyway, it's rumored to have a larger sensor... we'll see.
@@RoadReality I have mine rigged out with a Ulanzi cage and the mic adapter. That allows me to put a glimmer glass filter on it and a shotgun mic. Makes it look a lot less like a GoPro lol but I love the look
@@ChadsGarage1 That's awesome! I keep seeing people use glimmer glass filters - but I run the Max Lens Mod, so I'm fairly certain I can't put those on my cameras.
Sounds like you have your 11 set up as a vlogging camera - I'm irresponsible, so I bought a Sony ZV-1 for that kind of stuff :D
@@RoadReality I was looking into a ZV1, and I still might pull the trigger but they are still kind of expensive. I'm actually having a lot of luck using a little bit nicer camcorder for my main camera and using the GoPro for vlogging and tight shots. I do kind of want a ZV1 though lol.
@@ChadsGarage1 Yeah, they're not cheap, but from what I see people using... it's cheaper than most. The camcorder is a good idea - I didn't have one, so buying the ZV-1 was an easier choice.
