Oh, I'm glad this comment exists, thought I had hallucinated it. Maybe I did because the first time I saw it I thought his eyes were looking in opposite directions, one towards the ceiling and one towards the floor. Prepared to encounter this SCP in my nightmares.
He's talking about Misophonia. It's a condition in which certain sounds trigger an affected person's fight or flight response. Mouth, aka chewing, noises is a common one Misophonic people react to.
Wouldn't something you hate fill you with dread? yeah you can dread stuff you don't hate (responsibilities) but I WOULD dread listening to something I know I hate. Meow
I think the issue was a disconnect about when the dread happens (it's fair to take the Q at face value, imo). As in, are you dreading the thought of listening to the podcast, or is the podcast itself making you dread something else because of its subject matter? For Justin it's the former - he dreads the thought of being forced to listen to mouth sounds. But Apollo took it as * while you listen * and digest the content, the news evokes dread about the future of xyz (politics, climate change, etc.) - stuff beyond the actual audio being listened to.
if you're about to do something that you hate, then you dread doing it. No one says "I hate doing the dishes, I want to do them later", they say, "I hate doing the dishes, I'm dreading doing them later"
That’s only because that particular phrase has been used by everyone that it means something hint different than what it’s supposed to, like how when people say they’re starving you know they don’t mean they’re literally starving. Being filled with dread is supposed to be some intense fearful shit, not just having to do something you don’t want because you’re lazy lol
@@Flamerunner451 yeah but in the context of a Jackbox game, I'd think it'd be more likely they're referring to the commonly used casual meaning of the word rather than the Shakespearean technical definition lol. Like we're talking about podcasts here, there are no podcasts that could exist that will inspire real fear and anxiety
@@98loud well anyone who understands what the word’s supposed to mean would think of it that way lol. Plus the news and true crime pods and shit like that definitely do that
the key here though is that it's inevitable. you know that, eventually, you have to do the dishes. things that you can simply get rid of might be something you hate, but don't inspire dread. I hate young Sheldon, but I can just turn that off. I don't dread it. if I hear 'coming up next, young sheldon', I can change the channel, no dread inspired.
You know what's way worse than mouth noises? When a camera zooms way in on a person's mouth while they're eating something, it's so fucking gross. Bits of food falling from a mouth or drops of sauce stick to their rubbery lips that like flex and stretch and tighten and go from smooth to crinkly almost looks alien somehow. Humans eating looks pretty disgusting.
of course 4 hours of ads don't fill northernlion with dread, his favorite place is a supermarket

As a person who also suffers from this, I would rather break my own legs than be a part of a mouth noises podcast in any way.
i wonder how long chiblee practiced his meow for that
I mean, he did nail it
20% of his stream is animal noises, that's practice enough
MALF noises = the sound of ravioli while feeling down the stairs

Apollo was def on the wrong side, the question is definitely supposed to be "Which one of these would you fucking hate the most"
