    Electronic technician here. "This has overload protection so it will shut off..." should be "This has overload protection so it SHOULD shut off..." "There's no way to overload this"... when it's working properly. That's the whole reason we use breakers and fuses. Electronic devices don't always do what they're supposed to. Insulation doesn't always protect wires. You're protecting a potential fault, a fault you can't predict, so our last line of protection is a completely separate device to cut the power.

      yup and everytime we step outdoors we are at risk to be struck by lightning.........at some point it becomes ridiculous to shout out perceived safety issues. Can it happen? yes will it happen? There is also a concept called risk management........

      @@arnoldreiter435 The way we manage overload risks in electronics is breakers and fuses. We don't just hope and pray that we don't burn the house down instead.

      @@piquat1 Then the challenge for you is to make a video that would improve on this design instead of being an arrogrant Mr. Knowitall. This is just a simple design which I found a helpful place to begin and this guy is super nice and is kind to make corrects that are constructive.

      @@mannys4036 I'm not being arrogant. This is a matter of safety and he's suggesting things that can get people hurt, or worse. Obvious things too, things a simple car audio installer or alarm technician should know.
      Nobody needs a video about breakers and fuses. They're not complicated things, this isn't electrical engineering. You add up your loads and use an appropriately sized device. Same as installing a breaker in a panel in your house, for which there are TONS of videos.

    I hate to tell you this, but you should’ve spent less on a smaller inverter because those 50Wh will never for provide enough energy to get 2000 Wh out of the inverter. The other option would’ve been to get one battery with a 200 Wh 200A BMS.

    24V battery system would be better (more efficient).

      And a 48v system would be even more so.. But he built a 12v system, I'm sure he knows this but was going for something that fits his needs.

    Well done. I've been watching a few how-to vids for making a portable power unit as I'd really like to have something like this but can't afford a consumer model. Updates look good! Thanks for sharing them with us 🤠

    Handles might be nice, but if you have a hand truck and a strap, wheels are probably unnecessary.

    I used the Rigid 2.0 rolling tool box from Home Depot. It uses a removable handle/wheels system which is easy to remove and put on.

      nice suggestion but they are pricy and would make it a more expensive project. I saw the price at $139 at Home Depot. I think there are cheaper options that be sought out.

    Hate to bring it to you, but that Solar Charge controller is also NOT compatible with LiFePO4 batteries, even if it says so on the box, that is pure marketing. A true LiFePO4 battery charger will let you set BULK voltages, Absorption Voltages, Float Voltage, but also Absortion charge time etc. These voltages are NOT the same for every LiFePO4 battery, that's why it is important that you know which voltages to use on your batteries and to set them correct in the charge controller. There is no "universal" LiFePO4 charge setting. You can't really expect this from these kind of chargers. They are basically all the same China PWM chargers. If you want a true MPPT LiFePO4 charger, go for a Victron Smartsolar MPPT 75/15

    • @veeerzes
      @veeerzes 8 місяців тому +1

      To add to this, if you can't find any specific voltages for your batteries, the most common voltages for 12V LiFePO4 are: 14.4V Absorption, 13.8V Float. Absorption time should be no more than 1 hour. And also NEVER charge them below 5 degree Celcius. This will permanently damage them if they don't have cold temp charging protection.

      Should handle 600 watt input so probably 7 100 watt panels as they will never be 100% efficient

    You did not do everything wrong. You did many things correctly. I learned a few things from the other video that gave me some ideas. The only problem I have with most of these videos is that they are usually rushed and not explained comprehensively. The part about charging was rushed a bit. I would just simple buy a cheap LFP charger. Dont' be so hard on yourself and don't some of the comments personally. It's a big audience and some are just not nice folks like yourself.
