These classic soul sounds are now called “underground” soul or the “B- sides” and that’s only because they never made it on the radio, never made it to the top 100 or simply it just wasn’t any good. But now, when we listen to these forgotten soul tracks , we’re thinking; how can this not be a hit back in those times? 🤷
A lot of these records have actually been known about for 40+ years. Either unearthed by the lowrider scene in the USA or the Northern Soul scene in the UK. In the USA they were looking for "pretty" ballads whilst we in the UK were looking for uptempo dance music based on mid-60's Motown. They weren't forgotten by quite a lot of people and nowadays in the UK you can walk into a supermarket or other retail outlet and sometimes this music is playing.
@@rodshard8605 yeh, I think that is incredible how two types of sounds, apparently so different, were being made at the same time within the same style. From San Antonio to Detroit, both amazing.
Great Deep Soul.
