It will be a shame if, after all the intricate brick work and mix of stone types used, they leave the area between the tracks as concrete. I've kept an eye on this for months, thinking they will surely do something better.. it appears not?..
Thanks, Colin. Minor PoI's: 1) At 7:49 mins, unless we've just not noticed weeds growing in the borders at the southern end of the West Quay, then it looks as though they've been doing some planting. 2) The 4 pedal bike stands in between the above feature and the dockside are the same stands that are in lines along the inside of the Regent Road Wall, on the reclaimed cobble setts, but i don't think any droner has ever bothered to look at them closely on the East Plaza. They MIGHT have a design on them, such as the Leitch pattern, if they mimic the balustrade along Nelson Dock. 3) You missed the opportunity to catch the new, first vertical strut on the East End of the South Stand Viewing Gallery that will support the aluminium paneling. 4) At 11:21 mins, there are now 4 large vertical frames for wind baffles adjacent to the SW facade (Off-plan).
I’m sure they will be improving the look of it, the rest of the build is of too higher quality which is a credit to Laing O Rourke for them not to. They do watch most of the droners videos, they have told us that 👍
Edith: whilst your point is valid, they won't be as a result of the Movement Joints. Look closely and it's designed to operate like a bellows or a camper-van raisable roof. The sides have black rubber/plastic material at the sides to act as flexible waterproofing. Whilst it might look a little unsightly seen by a drone from the side of the 'plates', it doesn't mean they aren't effective. I think they will be tidying them up some more yet but only when the Movements have become insignificant.
Great work again, CP! Do you think they will pit a concrete floor in to the Water Feature? I wonder what they've done with all the sand they've excavated here. I'm assuming this was the sand they used to infill the original dock?
I bet the 18" roof drop gave Laing palpitations, any more could have scuppered the project and the stresses are where now? Will it drop more/?I did wonder why they needed so much insulation for an open roof? Not for warmth and do side stands need more sound effects?
Hi, John. The Movements were all in the middle of the range that was expected, so no LoR palpitations. In fact LoR were pleased. Yes, I expect there will be some more little movement, which, again, will be expected and planned for. The insulation is all for sound retention both to reduce the Noise Pollution for local residents and for an intimidatory atmosphere inside the ground., not warmth. (If the team play like they have so far this season, that intimidation might be aimed at the wrong team next year, unless Textor can get his deal over the line before January so as to have an effect on the squad). The barrel roof is 'behind' the terracing, so it doesn't need to be insulated.
Great video as always Colin. Did you notice the feather like steel frames(I'm guessing will be oart of the wind baffles)The expansion gap covers seem ugly and seen to overhang orher parts of trim. I will be keeping an eye on this as even though the roof won't be in plain sight ,It still looks awful.

They will act as the frame for the to-be-applied aluminium paneling. If you look at some later droners' videos, you can see that they have already applied the first one nearest the brick wall at the SE corner of the Viewing Gallery.
After being in the Premier League so long, Everton are going to get relegated with this new stadium to The Championship. Don't do a Portsmouth and keep disappearing down the leagues. Everton, with a stadium like that should be in the Prem.

All the poles on the north stand just should of been white like the south stand, there's so many things going on in this stadium project that aren't symmetrical and it annoys me tbh, I could name many things haha
The reason they chose to go black on that side was due to all the traffic going down that side. Team coaches, staff cars etc so it creates more dirt & dust. They'd look a mess if they was painted white or they'd regularly have to be cleaned.
Joel: you can see symmetry or asymmetry wherever you look. It depends on what you expect and the degree of obsession with perfect symmetry (that's not a criticism, merely a statement of reality for some) and since the very start it was clear that was very definitely going to be the case as the Architect meant that to be so. There are many unavoidable engineering issues that demand some asymmetry, so one may as well have embraced it from the outset. A car has both symmetrical and aymmetrical features (boot/bonnet, single steering wheel to one side, single exhaust pipe etc) but how many people would demand to be able to buy a car with a dummy steering-wheel on the passenger's side? You will never be able to look at both the North and South sides at the same time. In fact I am willing to bet that you will never actually look at the North Stand steels when you attend the site, only via a nosey drone. Beyond the practical reason for hiding vehicle traffic dust better, personally I think the black steels make a lot of sense. If you were standing on UU's site and not up in a drone, the black posts will 'merge' with the Black Panels in the facade, whereas the white steels above the concrete roof will 'merge' into the back of the terracing.
Toffeeboy: if you watch the last couple of weeks of droners' videos, they started the repainting towards the centre of the North Stand and are working eastwards. In this video you can now see that the white post is the third-from-last and the penultimate and end post are 'greyed'. As a result the white post has appeared to be jumping along the line of them and a lot of people had not noticed that before becoming white, they were being 'treated' in a grey finish. They are returning to all being black, as per the design. It may be quite some time before they do the west half of the North Stand posts as there is still much to be done before that, not the least of which is the perimeter basewall and the steels protection bases. And I suspect that won't be until after the pitch activity has subsided. As an aside, they have been progressively repainting the steels above the concrete rooves of the South and North Stands (you can see the scaffolding around the steels has been moving as a group of 3 from West to East).
Have to say they’ve done a bad job on the seats. So many random ones just not installed and laying about. Some covered. Some not. Why can’t they just finish it all?
That’s very poor engineering for the stand roofs to have ended up with such a difference in height . The expansion joints look like a real botch job . Very poor Llang ORourke.
I just don’t like stadiums that are built where 3 quarters of it are surrounded by nothing but water! Zero land around it to build any proper infrastructure! Compare this to what Man City have got at the Etihad with the Etihad campus! Might be a new stadium but it’s still worlds away from the Etihad which is awe inspiring!
Quite the opposite, only saying what people comment on. I think the stadium is superb and will be one of the best in the country and the way Laing O Rourke have carried out the job has been superb.
Great footage as usual. I don’t recall spurs having ‘expansion joints’ on their roof? Or any other recent new build stadium. As for the black cabling for the solar panels, surely they could’ve been a grey colour instead of black? It’s just the little things like that which could and should be better.
You'll be done with an entire stadium built on reclaimed land before Liverpool will have completed one stand expansion
What a shame the football played will be in the championship
