    am i able to change the tds variable to say like 3 for blue

      i wish... it takes a boolean variable, so only 0 or 1

      If you key something and run the mel command in the script window, it won't work. My command ONLY works as a hotkey. To understand furthermore, I'd recommend you to read an autodesk's keyframe command page.

      You should change letter "K" to "k", it worked

      @@taker3d THANK TO YOU, but seriously maya doesnt have a more simple feature to do the coloring of the keys ? its a little bit dumb in my point of view. But wow this will be a game change, I was always really nervous to mess out my key pauses. THANK YOU

    I was trying to use colorKey script but seems It doesn't work in Maya 2018 :( Your command is so useful, thank you so much! :D

      this comment is really old, but make sure keyframe is lowercase in the script, it will turn blue

    Is there any solution to change the colour of keyframe in 2018 bcoz by default it's color is blue instead red is much more better to understand it quikly

      You can change the default color at Windows > Color Settings > Time Slider > Key
