  • If I had to pick a favourite tune, Stardust might be it. I start the tune with the verse of the song, which is rarely heard, but is so well written. Most "standards" are just the choruses of tunes, and there's lots of hidden gems to be found in the verses.
For everyone thinking the world needs more solo jazz mandola - this one's for you.
Recorded on the bank of the Humber River in Toronto, Canada.

Great playing, lovely arrangement, and that Gibson sounds fantastic. I'm so happy the UA-cam AI suggested your video. Cheers!

What a rarity. An almost obscure instrument to see and hear, playing a once famous song of long ago. I enjoy hearing the instruments alone, and find it a tad bit annoying when background tracks are added. Great playing by the way.

Thanks for tuning in, glad you appreciate the obscure gem that is the mandola

That is a lovely tune, and a lovely instrument. I have an old Gibson A mandolin that looks like this one's little brother!

Just a few! If I can stay focused and keep playing the tune over and over again, cool moments start to appear

Chapeau! A wonderful performance! "Stardust" is one of my favorites. Maybe you might want to add "Georgia on my mind" to your repertoire. Same composer, Hoagy C. My old Gibson A1 from 1916 looks similar to its big brother. My abilities are modest next to yours. Still, mine too has a sweet tone too.

One of my favourite songs as well. And maybe you have the mandolin to my mandola?

@@adrianbgross yes - it seemed a liitle large - it could have been a bandolim which are fairly big but the scale length looked wrong - nice tone

I agree with he missing introductions - even hoagy Carmichael left out the beginning of Georgia in his recording. shame on him. I love watching the expressions on the faces of listeners who haven't a clue what is coming . good recording well played but Georgia is my favourite - hoagy not ray Charles version

The verse/intros add so much to the tune, and gives you a whole "almost" new song to work with, I try to find them whenever I can
