Interestingly, in Middle English, "growth" was sometimes spelt as "growthe" or "groweth." But here's where it gets fun: if you look at the etymology, "growth" shares a common ancestor with the German word "Wuchs," which means "growth" or "increase," but in German, it can also refer specifically to the growth pattern of plants or trees. So, in a way, when we talk about growth in English, we're using a word that has been describing the very essence of life's expansion since ancient times!
