I'm a really socially awkward person as well as shy, and when I got accepted for a group interview I was so excited then I realized I had to stick out from all the other 40 people in the room.I was EXTREMELY underdressed compared to everyone else, so I thought from the start I had no chance and I gave up. But the interviewer said something along the lines of "we're not looking for how many skills you have on your resumè, we're looking for personality" so I gave it a shot I told them I'm EXTREMELY shy and a very awkward person. They encouraged me to do my best and I did now I work casual and am already being promoted to full time. Within two weeks of working. Just never give up!!

I see you're trying to help but it's no use...I have no experience and I have been looking for a job for 2 years in order to gain some experience. I have applied to many jobs and no one calls me back, all the employers only want people with experience and no matter how much you ''sell yourself'', or show how confident you are, they will never hire you. They only care about money and if you don't have experience in the field they won't give you any chance, later they blame homeless people for being ''lazy'' and scream at them to go get a job... it's a sad truth.

    • @megafoxyawesomehot69

What type of jobs are you applying to? I had to start out in fast food because I had no connections and no experience. It wasn't terrible. Look for places that are really desperate and constantly advertising for jobs also. Also instead of waiting for everyone to call you back, call them first. They will not contact you 99% of the time unless you follow up on your own. I just had a really great interview from following up on an application. Also it's good to go into the store in person and ask to follow up on your application. I've learned that you can't just submit a bunch of online applications and wait for the employer to call you. If you don't have experience, you have to show them you really want the job.

    • @pskch9778

I applied to literally every job I could find, including fast food, factories, car wash, groceries stores, restaurants, general stores, movie theaters, amusement parks. I always go see them personally, and most of the time they just take the CV and never call back, or they either ask me to complete a form online and also don't call back. I am not making any of this up. This summer alone, I applied to over 40 jobs, and only 2 called back, but they didn't hire me because of lack of experience.

I think this video offers some great advice, however it doesn't match the title. If someone literally has no experience, then they're likely not gonna be called for an interview. You come in then, ask to speak with the store manager, hand her the application and say, "I am applying for my first job. I would like to schedule an interview." And be prepared because if she's not busy she might talk to you that day.

When I graduated, i realized I needed a job so I started applying to places like crazy before starting college . Started out working at Arbys now I'm a receptionist at a tax agency. All in 2 months.Big moves take progress and effort.

I learned so much in just a few minutes Linda! I've been on several job interviews (face-to-face and phone)....that's left me wondering "what went wrong"? I'm sadden that I hadn't come across you sooner. Those interview outcomes would've been more successful. I have a job interview in 3 days and I lack experience which has me nervous. However, I feel much better after listening to your strategies. My confidence level is way up!!!

    Interesting video.
I would like to add this. Not having experience, commonly not having worked in a company with a contract does not mean that we do not know how to do anything. Here are some helpful tips:
    - Always put yourself in the recruiter's shoes: he looks for the person who can do what he asks. You must therefore demonstrate in your resume that you can do it.
    -
    - It is necessary to value your past course. It can be your associative activities, one could have had a function in a university association even if there was no remuneration at the end.
    - In your CV describe in detail, without being too long, what you did. This is to demonstrate that you know how to do what is asked.
    - Despite your lack of experience, always position yourself as a solution provider (without arrogance), not as a person who comes only to learn so take to the company.
Personal branding, well explained in the video, will help you to be original.

I change my career and I don't have no solid experient nor certificate. But I got the job with really high salary.
    Here is my tips.
    1) learn everything about the company as much as you can
    2) know what you can and what you can't and be honest
    3) talk in confident but don't be rude
    4) use previous exp even it is not directly related with current interview, something is better than nothing
    5) make the interviewers believe you really want this job, no other job
    6) practise how you will answer when they ask you questions
    7) smile alot

N auto employed after training. I did that with 2/companies. Now I'm taking those experience and just got a call last week for receptionist job..I never done that or anything.. She saw my info I sent and from how she talked seem like I'm already hired. But my interview is Tue. So my advice is be yourself be confident like u got one life. What's to fear. IDC about experience. Who you are is what matters. Even if u not qualified still apply. They might look at you like you know what u different! I like you! ..your hired! So be you and do you!

The problem with having a personal brand is that as true as it is, it can take a massive amount of time to build that, if you're coming from the perspective of someone who has barely anything to "connect the dots" with. There are much faster ways to land a job with no experience, I actually made a video on this on my channel, but the key thing is to network and find entrepreneurial ways to build that experience. I wish you went more into depth with how to actually build that experience.

Just watching to read the comments and relate to them. Man did I have such a hard time back in this part of my life back in 2014 when I was 19 and no job experience. This was always in the back of my mind & I felt like a useless human being back in this time because of this. It took me like 6 interviews for my first shit job working in a landscaping company, shitty job. One thing I've noticed too throughout my time in the workforce is that most temp agencies will hire anyone for shitty event related job, like cleaning stadiums, etc. It sucks real bad but at least through doing that over time the chance' s of finding a guaranteed job with a set location, increase overtime due to gained experience. This was how I got me an actual work location after getting fired from my first crap job & being unemployed for like a year. It's a dam struggle.

Thank you for making this video. However, how can you express your personal brand through your cv? Most of the time, candidates who have more experience, get invited to interview with a company. Most of entry-level roles in Europe require at least 2-3 years of experience. Why would they settle for somebody without experience, if they can offer a position for somebody, who has years of international experience?
Personally, I believe it's important to adjust your cv so you start get calls from companies.

I'm 21 and have ZERO work exprience. I have never worked before. I have social anxitey. I have had, so far three job interviews. The Habit, Chick-fil-A, and a Salvadorian restaurant. The first interview at The Habit didn't go well I was extremely nervous and when the manager asked me questions my mind was completely blank, I barley was able to manage to speak. She said she was going to call back within a week and never did. Last Tuesday, I had an interview at Chick-fil-A. This time I was able to answer the manger's questions but was still nervous and I told him that I was recomended by a friend of my father's who works there. The manager said hopefully he'll see me again for a second interview bc fast food places like The Habit & Chick-fil-A usually do 2 to 3 interviews in order to get hired. (BS I know.) The third interview I had today at the Salvadorian restaurant went alright, I was nervous AGAIN. I really need to learn and calm these damn nerves down. The manager said he needed to interview another candidate but that he'll give me a call to let me know whether I get the job or not. Two months ago I applied at a banquet at a golf course bc my mother's coworker/friend's daughter and son work there so they could recommend me, the last thing I heard was that work was slow due to the rainy days but the weather is a lot nicer now it even starts to be begin to feel like summer and that people have gone to go drop off aplications. I will message her again and basically be blunt and ask if work is still being slow. I'm scared the manger won't consider me or bother calling to set an interview bc I have zero prior work expirience. I really want to work there even if it's just for the summer during the weekend while I work some place elsewhere during the weekdays.

Thank you for your advice! I'm wondering how could you change your job from CPA to HR function( Coach or Recruiter) ? You just started that career very first level? I mean you already had 4-5 years of CPA career before you work as a Career coach. I want to know it. Thank you!

Hi Linda,I was scouting helpful videos for my intermediate ESL students and I stumbled upon this awesome video! Many of my female students are house wives who never worked in their home countries. They are eager to start a career but worried about their lack of experience. I hope you can give me a permission to use this video as a part of my job interview lessons. Thank you for the inspiring video with subtitles! (Subtitles matter for the sake of ESL!) Keep on rocking!
