Thank you for watching! The hummingbird finish seemed ordinary at first but when I started looking at it I realized the work that went into it. It is truly an amazing piece!

You have many beautiful projects there! I agree with you on the toy soldier…he’d make a great stand alone piece. So glad you are rescuing those lovely needlework pictures.

Just found you and I’m definitely subscribing! I used to live in Ithaca, NY in the late 80’s/early 90’s. It’s a beautiful area. We have several pieces in common…I am also working on Summer Quaker. Yours looks amazing. I stitched a couple of those Santas you showed towards the end…lots of stitching for an ornament but I love them. I think your nutcracker would look great as a stand up. Looking forward to your next video.

I thought I replied to all the comments on this video but I just realized I didn't. Thank you for your kind words about my projects. I really enjoy stitching santas and I'm still figuring out what one I will tackle next! Thank you for watching!

That hummingbirds framed piece is spectacular, but I am amazed to find out that there already were metallic threads as early as 1990. As for Kermit the Frog... it reminded me of my childhood, a dear memory since it was one of the very few shows that we could see on tv in communist Romania before 1989.
And now coming back to your wips, great parade! I have four favourite pieces, because they look so well: Crocette's Winter Sampler, the Blue Flower and the Owl Forest.
But the most fabulous of them all seemed to me the Nutcracker. The shading of his costume is so realistic, it gave me the impression of velvet... Before you even said anything about your plans I could picture that Nutcracker on its own, nothing else stitched around him and him finished as a stuffed stand-up pillow - I believe Helen D. has some Easter bunnies finished this way.
But I cannot wait to see your Nutcracker next time!
    Happy stitching!

I am so glad you enjoyed seeing Kermit! And thanks for your encouraging words about my nutcracker. I would like to see him displayed at some point! Thanks for watching!

I recently tried opalescent Aida for my nephew's wedding sampler. I am having a lot of trouble with the stiffness just like you. I will finish it, but I don't enjoy the feel of the stitching. I won't try this fabric again even though it is pretty.
I enjoy seeing your projects. Your stitching is beautiful!

Yes, the opalescent aida looks very nice but it is not fun to work with. I'm glad I'm not the only one. Thanks for watching!

Thank you for this video. You have a lovely manner on the screen. I am glad I found you. Please, just to set my mind to rest, please tell me you have checked the stitch count of random linens you use. What I mean is that the width count needs to equal the count in the opposite direction. Just mark of an inch with pins and count. If they are not equal, yourdesign will turn out to be either stretched tall, or squashed and wider, in either case out of proportion. But you are onto a good thing, if the count checks out, and I admire your initiative Happy stitching from Australia.

Thanks for the tip! That makes sense. I will definitely take a closer look at my pieces before I get too far with them to make sure I won't run into problems. A squashed design would not be good, haha.

I think you are on to something with your idea of making the nutcracker a little framed piece. It is hard to stitch on a fabric you don’t love.
