Yeah if you watch part 1/part 2 of this presentation too, you will see that there is emphasis or a portrayal of the blue collar areas of Hong Kong as well. It's a pretty fair assessment as I've seen all sides staying in touristy areas but also spending time with local friends that took me everywhere including the "dive" neighborhoods for great cuisine.
it was an honest and fair representation when I visited in 2008, and was made with the help of the HK tourist board. maybe things have changed a lot since then: the week I got there was the start of the credit crunch. I hope the guides show a snapshot of a point of view that people like. Part 3 nips out to the beaches, which is definitely NOT proper HK, and the trip to Lamma island was to the quiet part, sorry you didn't like it.
I live in HK & this is a fair representation of 1 side of HK but all places, especially cities have many sides depending on where you standing. HK is pretty extreme in that a lot of people live in relative poverty, & sometimes not so far away from where the millionaires BUT a huge chunk of people live very middle class lives where they live in a nice flat, holiday abroad, have latest gadget & clothes etc so to say the majority of people in HK are poor hasn't been my experience.
I agree--there's the "poor" side of Hong Kong that wasn't seen in this video. I think that part better represents the city because the majority of people in Hong Kong aren't well off.
no, the video was good. It's just that it's completely different from how I saw it when I visited in like...2005 or 2006. Perhaps you only stayed in those luxurious areas, but a lot of Hong Kong feels more ghetto-ish and China-like. This video makes Hong Kong feel like America. Also, a lot of China's atmosphere comes from the sounds of the streets, cars, and people, so maybe the lack of any sound sort of changed the atmosphere.
No need to apologize. Everyone's reality is different, and who is he to tell you how a city really is? It's all subjective, so don't take flak from people who don't like your "portrayal," after all that's all it is, a portrait and experience. And that guy's a douche.
Yea but if your going to make a tourist video you don't make a video about all the shady bad things. Its like saying come to New York where you might get shot but a gun wielding gang member.
Thanks for the upload as I thought this was fantastic.
Thanks for the upload! Really enjoyable :D

I think this clip is GOOD though I haven't watched the part1 and 2 yet.

Their not better than Club Cielo in New York.

this is sad to watch, like a paid advertisement
don't really like how Hong Kong is portrayed here. doesn't feel like Hong Kong at all in reality.
