Cool to see an old boy like that still living the way he wants to. So awesome having your own water supply and extra bonus with making your own juice. Just way cool. Thanks for the glimpse into that world.
I love the interview with the older gentleman. I hope he is still with us. In many ways he reminded me of my grandpa even down to the overhauls and the hand gestures.
Very cool old gentleman to show you around the generator, engine, and well.... how interesting ! Cool finds too and I don't blame him for not wanting the location revealed....he'd get over-run with gawkers, tourists, etc....very nice and I thoroughly enjoyed this ! Thank you much for posting it ! 73, Dave in Mi aka KC8YOX
Nice rat excrement encrusted TV sets. What an awesome generator. This is real America, what a great man to give you a full demo with the start and run of the machine. Look forward to the resurrection video's. Brilliant video.
This man is the type of man that modern society wants gone. Sad to say it's worked and people like that are extremely rare. Kudos for sharing the footage, this man is the last remnants of America.
The old guy was so interesting. I wish I could meet him oneday. Also nice to see the generator was made in Stamford U.K, Just 15 miles away from Peterborough where I live. | noticed the generator was dated 2007?
I'm almost ready to bet (and hope) you are going to bring that tv back to life with all the crap still in it, like you did in a previous video. Things like this are just fantastic to witness, and a good indication of the build quality of the device. Not to mention the skill and guts of the one doing the repair. But even if not, just seeing this dirt filled ancient set that was exposed to all that crap for decades live again, is enjoyment enough.
Great video & wow, you weren't kidding when you said your car was full! Least your car is packed with good stuff, not like mine as its full of junk from my kids. LOL
I came to Oklahoma in the early 80's and I worked in the oilfield from 1981 until 1983 There =were a ton of old guys like this around...it's a shame that most of them are gone today. The world has changed so much. it would seem since the early eighties.
That early-mid 60's Panasonic was a helluva score. You never see those. The Philco, i'd have just taken to the car wash and hit it with the high pressure rinse. Getting it wet one more time cant be all that catastrophic for it at this point. The property owner seemed like a great man, it's cool that you included him in the video. His little powerplant there is probably more reliable than anything ConEd is running. lol Another 5-star production!
it's amazing these things like tvs and radios that you find ah if here in Brazil it was easy I would love to find in my country in Brazil only to find already enough damaged there are cases that do not work more congratulations for these relics
The quantity of stuff out there left to rot boggles the mind. That Panasonic is super cool, I've never seen such an old Japanese set with a decent size screen, only 12" and smaller. Hope it gets its own video, am curious to see how it's put together inside, and how it survived being rained on with bat shit since the eighties. Anyone else watch videos about vintage electronics using vintage electronics? 23" B&W RCA here for all UA-cam viewing.
This is gotta be one of your best vidos so far. I like the stuff that Panasonic made. When it comes to japanese stuff, they were about the best. I remember seeing a while ago some transistor radio that was branded by General Motors or something like that. The engine is plain amazing. Today not only you just can't repair machinery most of the times, sometimes it's also _illegal_ to try and do so.
Love that old gen-set with the pneumatic safety shut down dump valve. We still are using AMONT dump valves on our recip compressors for natural gas pipeline transmission.
This homestead brings back memories for me. I had an old chinese dong feng one cylinder diesel tractor motor that i attached a fan belt onto a generator in the 80's We were off the grid in nor cal mountains. It was damn hard to start with the hand crank in cold weather. I sometimes put a can of sterno under the oil pan. Finally said screw it and had the flywheel machined and a ring gear and starter put on with a remote start button inside the house. I completely feel sorry for this old guy in the cold months with that monster. He really needs photovoltaics
Arrow makes and/or supplies a lot of parts for not only these and other old engines, but for a lot of the old steam engines as well. There is a huge steam engine group here in Oklahoma.
Uh oh, when you were talking about putting stuff in the windows and having stuff strapped to the roof the Sanford and Son theme started playing. I started hearing it. Shango and Son.
it's kind of neat how the old miner guys started that generator he moves kind of slow like he's in pain but boy when he cranked that generator issue show that he's still got it if you ever see him again tell him you still got it old man congrats.
That genset is surely similar to the first one up at Mt Baldy, Sandpoint, ID. My Gramps (USFS) in conjuction with Northern Lights built two huts up there in the '60's for radio equipment for the two of them. Later, power was run up the hill, and the old diesel was replaced with a standby LP genset. I've never been able to find info on just what the old girl was. We could hear it run...just like this one...clear down the mountain at our place.
Cup of coffee, check - smoke, check - Comfy leather armchair, - check! iShango066 on my plasma set, check -!! s all i need on a friday night, once again brilliant video mate
Shango coffee i can cope with but i need to quit these cancer sticks, for some stopping smoking is dead easy but been smoking since the age of 15 and im now 43, i think everyone has at least one addiction lol, yea mate would love to see the next video with my music in. eh hang on should i have died like years ago? smokings bad m,kay, i think people that drink artificial sweeteners have a higher bowel cancer risk.
+Synthematix yeah I badly want to quit the cancer sticks too. Coffee wakes me up in the mornings & without caffeine, I get bad headaches from caffeine withdrawals.
If he's in CA he will have to keep that old Witte diesel where it is...once he moves it, it will have to go out of state because it would be regulated as new.
I can't believe he picks up these old crappy TVs that would be considered junk to anyone else and makes them work!! He should be wearing a face mask while exploring these old haunts -too much dust and rat poos!!!
I am trying to get an idea of the size of the antennas (by looking at the 4 way splitter). It seems conceivable to me that they could be high band VHF Yagis.
interview with the owner was great.
That older gentleman is a picture of our country that is sadly disappearing. Really cool engine. another interesting video.
Thanks as always.
Carl
ps,,, I love to see how you are living your life to the fullest the way you want to live. Kudos to you Shango.
I could listen to that diesel rumble all day, very cool indeed.

i always liked don and his witte diesel generator i worked at his mine years ago.
Gotta love the Gramps. He's so cool and knowledgeable.
Man that engine is so graceful. Just comes right up. Softest start I've ever seen.
That dude __is_ America. A hero.
Absolutely fantastic interview with the gentleman and his authentic equipment! Thank You!
Amazing person, that was a good one Shango
Nice rat excrement encrusted TV sets. What an awesome generator. This is real America, what a great man to give you a full demo with the start and run of the machine.
Look forward to the resurrection video's. Brilliant video.
Great video and wonderful interview. Thanks for keeping history alive.
Nice old guy and smart too. He knows how to survive and I bet he has allot of really great stories to tell.
This man is the type of man that modern society wants gone. Sad to say it's worked and people like that are extremely rare. Kudos for sharing the footage, this man is the last remnants of America.
Enjoyed the Witte run. Great engine built well.
Wouldn't life be great living the life of simplicity. I envy him. Thanks Shango.
The old guy was so interesting. I wish I could meet him oneday.
Also nice to see the generator was made in Stamford U.K, Just 15 miles away from Peterborough where I live. | noticed the generator was dated 2007?
As we know, all the best engines were British. My mum worked at Perkins Diesel in Peterbrough when she left school.
Stamford is now owned by Cummings. Perkins is owned by Cat.
Love the generator setup. That guy really knows how to survive off the grid. ☺
You get to meet some amazing folks shango . Love these videos .
I must say that old gentleman was very interesting....
This is my favourite video, not of UA-cam, just my favourite. Thanks shango066, absolutely wonderful.
I am really waiting for the resurrections. That loot looks so lemony tasty.
Great old guy. Really knows his stuff.
I'm almost ready to bet (and hope) you are going to bring that tv back to life with all the crap still in it, like you did in a previous video. Thanks for preserving all of this history in a video.
Awesome site, nice haul. The Generator was awesome as well. Looking forward to seeing these old sets brought back to life.
Wow lots of old school goodies enjoy the videos.
Another great video. I learn something new from each one. I can't wait to see the TV sets going again.
What a great old guy, hope he's still around..
Very knowledgeable older gentleman and that Panasonic what a find have a great day Shango
shango066 really thanks for stuffing you car to the fullest I really enjoy your video's and see you fix everything.
Me gustan tus videos saludos desde Guatemala!!
This is a great documentary actually.
Great video! Great interview with the owner, very cool generator/diesel. And a lot of new video material!
wow this video is great i really enjoyed the engine and how well it is built . great thank you for sharing this
Great video & wow, you weren't kidding when you said your car was full! Least your car is packed with good stuff, not like mine as its full of junk from my kids. LOL

That old guy is cool. I’m kinda surprised he can still turn the engine over and do stuff off the grid at his age
excellent video...learned plenty
You've got yourself a bonus with all that guano caked on the Philco.
That early-mid 60's Panasonic was a helluva score. You never see those. The Philco, i'd have just taken to the car wash and hit it with the high pressure rinse. Loved the generator and the dude rebuilding it himself.
Great Video many thanks
Acho bem legal essas suas explorações, você acaba encontrando coisas bem inusitadas, inclusive eletrônicos e TVs....vale cada LIKE
Very good video shango, very nice man to let you see his stuff
Great video. That jar of peanut butter at 5:08 looked yummy. You should have taken that too.
Very nice finds, especially the 'cute' Panasonic. Now comes the lovely job of cleaning them (your car can use a wash too).
it's amazing these things like tvs and radios that you find ah if here in Brazil it was easy I would love to find in my country in Brazil only to find already enough damaged there are cases that do not work more congratulations for these relics
looking forward to see the resurrection videos
I love the old Phenolic shaft hat he's wearing
Very interesting video. This reminded me of talks with my papa back in the day :) Excellent video :)

Cool old generator!! Flywheels. I saw old gasoline engines that had big flywheels. I took pictures of them at the festivals years ago.
This is gotta be one of your best vidos so far. I like the stuff that Panasonic made. When it comes to japanese stuff, they were about the best. I remember seeing a while ago some transistor radio that was branded by General Motors or something like that.

Love that old gen-set with the pneumatic safety shut down dump valve. We still are using AMONT dump valves on our recip compressors for natural gas pipeline transmission.
That big engine was great I loved the sound of it running, it was kind of the stuff of nightmares to see the ol' timer close to that running flywheel.
"✔ Checck out how 🐌 slow this thing's 🏃 running". "Putt, putt, putt, putt, putt". 👍 Great "off the grid" sound. 20:59.
Very nice work
Nice video. I'm really looking forward to the resurrections!
Thanks!

WOW what a great find!!!!!
Thanks for showing... Philco with Ford was a lasting classic for sure, I know! ...not as a customer, but its thought out manufacture.

This is really amazing. Channel is subscribed
Very nice video... damn good stuff
Great finds!!!
When I saw the Panasonic, I was like, "You've got to take it, dude...you've got to!" and of course, you did...
Excellent video!
hey great video
Thats a true old boy right there. Last of the real deal.
I didn't know people put the fuse box on the outside of the house. That looks dangerous as hell! I wouldn't be surprised if the common was fused too.
I live near Newhall, Ca. and you still see those old grasshoppers running.
My father service those engines for years out of Ellinwood,Ks.
Seriously nice engine !
Great stuff.

+shango066 Caffeine + Nicotine = bad for your health! Unfortunately they are the two worse addictions I wish I could quit in a heartbeat . 😥😝😵☕️🚬☠

These are the guys that will survive the nuclear apocalypse. With all those years of experience running this equipment, living off the land etc..
Ive worked on a bunch of them witte's
👍👍
now that old feller is old school
thanks S
I thought someone really annoying was knocking on my door (for a split second) when you showed us the exhaust.
LMAO!!!!! I thought the same thing.
guys like his are becoming a rare thing,, so sad,,,
Clearly we’ve got a major hoarder here.
wow an old hit and miss enging you dont see many of those any more. pre - 50s.
Holy broken televisions Batman!
I can't believe he picks up these old crappy TVs that would be considered junk to anyone else and makes them work!! He should be wearing a face mask while exploring these old haunts -too much dust and rat poos!!!
Eileen Dover He brought old junk radios to life that I thought were lost causes. He is amazing!
I still think he should get some inverter and try to plug on that 50s thing that had a brightener on it. Should be fine for an EOL video
Wow, nice to see that old Pepsi commercial :)
