Hearing about his story of leaving med school and pursuing art instead is so brave, as a med student myself I just neglected my love for art for years and even tried to quit several times ( failed miserably though) and sorry to say this but honestly when covid hit and we went to lockdown I had nothing but time so I did nothing But drawing i had the time to do studies and learn all sorts of things and I'm happy with the progress I made so far

I always go to a paiting like "it's definitely gonna be shit" then my sketch looks pretty good to me and I don't know how to not ruin it with my non-existant painting skills and end up being afraid of continuing. It's kind of weird to talk about how drawing and painting is about freedom of expression
and then turn it into a conversation about how to go about teaching, students, discipline, etc.
Don't get me wrong, I think there's great value in learning the ways of the masters,
but in recognizing that value, I find significantly less value in my innate expression 😆
