because of your youtube course review, I got to know so much about the best UA-camr courses. Thanks a ton. Once I looked into your videos 2 days ago I could not stop watching and commenting. You give your view in a very honest way. I feel as if I know you and you are giving honest and sincere advice. Very good work. I also starting my youtuber journey hopefully I can follow your path.
Glad you found those useful! I studied his videos a lot and joined his Patreon to learn more, and then he came out with his course...huge time saver for me to get better xp
This was great! Thanks for sharing. Definitely so hard to wade through all the difference "course" options out there. Each new one always seems like it will be "the one," but it's refreshing to hear that I should consider the styles that interest me before I get too wrapped up in taking as many courses as possible.
Haah yeah I'm a course junkie. I made a rule for myself, no new courses until I finish my existing ones. Yeah that realization helps me parse through when I have tons of options, I just ask myself, what's my favorite beer? Gl with whatever course you choose!
@@PeterSu Really like it so far, but I do agree with your point it would have been great to have some kind of group to start the course in for more accountability!
Peter! simply adore it! love your humour! a lot of values in his course. Thanks for summarising it. Now, I really wanna join. Very different from PTYA.
Cheers to that!! Haha! Great video Peter! I'm starting module 4 tomorrow. I'm looking forward to starting this one! For the moment, I find the price a bit high...
How involved is Matt once you join? Is it similar to the Monthly/studio course where you never see or hear from Casey as far as answering questions? How involved are the people who have taken his course? Do they stick together afterwards as a community or do you need to form your own? I feel like the cinematic storytelling tutorial style would really fit the people I’m trying to help.
I want to create videos more like Johnny Harris but am planning on primarily making finance and economics videos as I am a CFP and think I can help a broader audience of people on UA-cam instead of working with individual clients. Would you recommend Johnnys and Nathaniels course for someone who is not going to be a travel vlogger? Side note: I want to teach somewhat boring material through creating entertaining story's! Also, great video, thank you!
Hey Kabewar - sounds like an awesome channel premise. If you're not going to be a travel vlogger and are going to make educational finance/econ videos, I don't think their course is going to really help you do that. It could help you with storytelling and making things more entertaining though, but I wouldn't focus on that until after you're comfortable making your core finance vids. For educational videos - you may want to check out Ali Abdaal's course. If you're looking to build a business I'd highly recommend his Part Time UA-camr Academy. It's really good for educational channels and building a business. However it's really expensive at $2K and is probably overkill until you've made more videos. 'd suggest checking out Ali's UA-cam for Beginners Course on Skillshare. It's free if you use the one month trial (just be sure to cancel before the month ends).
Great video btw! I see that this course is $495 now. Do you think it would be still worth it at that price range knowing what you know now from this course? Thank you for the great video again!
I really like the idea of doing Matt's course, but I want to grow the business that I work for as a social media manager. Which course is best? My budget is under $300
What kind of business is it and what's your biggest channel? Is your content more educational or entertaining? What's the format - talking head or more vlog style or documentary style?
Hey Riyaz - great question. It depends on your goals for UA-cam (hobby vs business?) + how seriously you want to to take youtube. They are both great courses and you can't go wrong with either. They have different strengths and PTYA is a much bigger commitment/investment starting at ~$2K while Matt's course is $300. If you're not sure if you want to do UA-cam or take an intense course, but want to explore making a channel - I'd definitely recommend Matt's course first bc it's a world class course on UA-cam and a lower investment to get his guidance. There's more of a focus on the creative process here. If you know you want to take youtube really seriously and can afford it, I'd recommend PTYA because you'll be able to make deeper friendships with youtuber friends (from the cohort-based classes). There's also more of a focus for building a business here. If you have any other qs lmk!
Hey Peter! If one is using Adobe Premiere as their video editing software, do you think the course is still worth to take? I believe Matt uses FCP? Thanks!
Hey Ernesto - for the editing section it'd be slightly less convenient for a Premiere user bc you have to translate what he's doing from FCP, but the editing principles he teaches would still apply regardless of software. Also, like 80 to 90% of the course covers non-editing topics so I think it would still be helpful if you want to grow in those areas.
It depends on what you're looking for. Editing is about 15 to 20% of the course, the editing principles would apply to any editing software and would still be helpful. Seeing Matt's file management and templates was really helpful for me
Hahaha yeah...so many good courses. One thing I'm trying to do is to not buy a new course until I've finished my current one and ideally created a summary - mb that could help you cut down on course overload too xp
Good question. It depends, what are your goals and budget for UA-cam? If you're serious about building a business and can afford it I'd recommend PTYA. If you want to learn more about filmmaking/editing/the artistic side of Youtubing I'd recommend Slow Growth. You can't really go wrong with either - and really, a lot of it comes down to who's your favorite creator and the style you want to learn from
Hey Bogdan - good q, it depends on what you're going for and your budget. The biggest factor imo is who your favorite creator is. If you love Matt D'Avella's style, his Master UA-cam course is awesome. If you love Ali Abdaal's videos more, PTYA is amazing. If your goal is to build a YT channel and your budget is under $300 I'd suggest Master UA-cam by Matt D'Avella. It covers the UA-cam process from A to Z with Matt's guidance, is reasonably priced, and has a pretty decent community. It's got a more artistic bend to it. slowgrowth.com/master-youtube/ If you have a $2K budget and can commit to an intense 6 week course, I'd highly recommend Ali Abdaal's Part-time UA-camr Course. It covers the whole UA-cam process, has more of a business bend to it, and the community is the strongest I've been a part of. Headsup, it's currently on a waitlist and only runs every 4 months and the enrollment period is 10/31. I think it closes like a week after, definitely don't miss it if you want to take the course because I missed it before and had to enroll half a year later). This was a really dope review Peter!!! $295…I’ve spent $995 on a YT course and this seems more valuable.
