  • Let me take you on a tour of my Melbourne vegetable garden or urban farm and show you all my Summer vegetables.
I'll also give you a list of things you can plant right now that will thrive in a Melbourne or Victorian garden, or anywhere else with a similar climate.
On this Melbourne Summer Vegetable Garden Tour I'll teach you all the tricks I've learnt along the way, including hand pollinating how to attract bees to your garden.
Some of the things we're growing in our backyard vegetable garden include
    - tomatoes
    - zucchini
    - watermelon
    - capsicums
    - chilli
    - cucumbers
    - cucamelons and much more.

My garlic bulbs always fail in Melbourne, yet i keep trying as if there will be a miracle suddenly 😅But, i found out i can still use the leaves in cooking to get that yummy garlic flavour! Kinda like leek

Hello, new subscriber and fellow Melbourne gardener here. You have some excellent healthy looking vegies and greens there.
Although Melbourne gets a bad wrap with the weather it's actually in a nice spot for variety. I'm growing lots of tropical fruits here from mangoes and dragonfruit to bananas and avocados to name a few.
Glad I found your channel 👍

Oh wow, didn’t know you could have success with mangoes and dragonfruit! What a treat! Welcome ☺️

G'day Christie, Hope you and the family are well. :)
I have in my veggie garden a Jade plant, 2 lavenders, some rose bushes and a few other flowers all to bring in the bees. The lavender works extremely well as it flowers all year round so I suggest you plant some around to bring the bees in.
I have just about all of what you are growing and also brussel sprouts, radishes and gerkins.
Have a great week down in the Big Smoke!!

Welcome! Lavender is a great idea - my-laws lavender was always swarming with bees when they had it in the garden! Haven’t had any luck with Brussel sprouts yet, they all got eaten last year!

Your garden is much more advanced than ours in Gippsland. We are still getting snaps of cold weather which is slowing things down. Weird the difference as we are only a couple of hours apart in distance. Your garden looks great.

I suspect it’s because I took a gamble and started many of my seedlings early, after reading it was going to be a warmer than average spring. I’m sure yours will catch up!

Wow your garden is looking great. I have zero fruit on my tomatoes. I’m in Melbourne too and the difference in our gardens is huge. Zero signs of fruit on anything except my blueberries.

I didn’t get around to including my berries, none of mine are fruiting! They’re all new so I don’t think they will until next year. My other summer veg were all started very early this year which is probably why they’re a bit ahead!

I love your garden updates, I’v recently put in 3 raised beds and am in the process of expanding over the garden. Had my first really good harvest over winter, and now with summer on the way and everything growing fast I’m super excited. Learning from your videos also being in Melbourne has been so helpful, thank you.

@@ChristieCooperI actually started mine after watching your video with what to plant now, so with uploading your vlog I would think I’m only a few weeks behind you, but so far behind in growth.

Are they getting enough sun? I find a fortnightly dose of liquid fertiliser makes a big difference too!

do you have any problems with the qld fruit fly attacking the tomato/ capcicum/ eggplants.... ? .. if so what do you do to stop it... i live northern nsw.. and can not get any plants to survive fruiting as they get attacked.. unless you have to purchase the baits which are expensive...

That’s so frustrating! Fortunately I haven’t come across the qld fruit fly here!
