People Have STOPPED PAYING THEIR STORAGE BILLS!

- More people have stopped paying their bills on their storage units or are falling behind. Simultaneously people are falling behind and all sorts of other bills like credit cards, car loans, even mortgage delinquencies are starting to tick up as well. If people were doing great financially this would not be happening.

Gold standard doesn’t work. Imagine that you own a gold mining company. How would you like it when the government tells you how much your gold is worth.
Today’s gold priced according to market conditions like supply and demand.
Gold standard is PRICE FIXING.
Today’s dollar value is determined according to supply and demand of dollars vs a basket of supply or demand of commodities, services & other currencies
Complex way of evaluating it.
It is influenced by Politics, government policy, people’s movements, people population growth or decline, war or peace, international relations, natural resources and even weather conditions.. very complex and can’t be explained by one singular thing but alot of of the influence comes from money supply. It's the banks fault. I work at a cash heavy business and the way the banks harass us making cash deposits is insane. We have to break up the deposit totals to skim under the requirements for larger deposits (one day we have x amount, but we do x - y so that z is acceptable, then bring in y the next day) so their requirements are met

My husband and I rented a storage unit in Reno, NV, three years ago. We travel for a living and are away for over 300 days per year. Instead of buying a house, we just store our household items that are not replaceable. Two years into renting, we discovered that the facility was renting to homeless people. In the six months that we had not checked on our unit, we discovered upon arrival one day that half the facility was occupied by homeless people. Trash, dog/human feces, the smell of urine, old cars, and motorcycles were everywhere! As fast as we could, we hired big, burly moving men to move us to a secure facility outside of Reno. We check on the new place every month now.
WOW that’s crazy

We Are in Unchartered Financial Waters! every day we encounter challenges that have become the new standard. Although we previously perceived it as a crisis, we now acknowledge it as the new normal and must adapt accordingly. Given the current economic difficulties that the country is experiencing in 2024, how can we enhance our earnings during this period of adjustment? I cannot let my $680,000 savings vanish after putting in so much effort to accumulate them.
Keeping some gold is usually a wise decision. You would be better off keeping away from equities for a bit or, even better, seeking advice from an expert given the current market conditions and everything that is at risk with the current economy.
You have a very valid point, I started investing on my own and for a long time, the market was really ripping me off. I decided to hire a CFA, even though I was skeptical at first, and I beat the market by more than 9%. I thought it was a fluke until it happened two years in a row, and so I’ve been sticking to investing via an analyst
Could you possibly recommend a CFA you've consulted with?
My CFA ’Melissa Terri Swayne’ , a renowned figure in her line of work. I recommend researching her credentials further. She has many years of experience and is a valuable resource for anyone looking to navigate the financial market.
Thank you for saving me hours of back and forth investigation into the markets. I simply copied and pasted her full name into my browser, and her website came up first in search results. She looks flawless.
Just an observation. As an old retired man, I watch a lot of You tube - various types of content - and it's obvious to me that you have one of the best on this segment of the market. Thanks for being so consistent with your presentations and coverage of our economy that so many of us are interested in hearing about.

If you have to rent a storage unit for all of the “stuff” you have accumulated, but don’t have room for in your house, you simply have too much stuff. Imagine paying to store the junk that you don’t use and serves no purpose. If you haven’t used it, worn it, or even looked at it in over a year, then you really don’t need it.
These people are called hoarders!!!
Most people are temporarily downsizing or moving for a seasonal job. My brother has a moving company and my husband helps him on some of their major jobs. Most of their clients don’t want to move all of their stuff with them just for a 6-7mon job opportunity. So the blanket statement is way off. Also I know a few people that had to get a storage unit because they lost their home, due to the landlord wanting to raise the rent. How would that look if someone is coming to stay with you temporarily but is bringing a 2-4 house worth of their valuable? They would have no choice but to get a storage unit.
If they are using a storage facility in the first place they may have a foreclosure on their property and need to store there furniture and belongings until they figure out other living arrangements.
@@onlyme7907 No they’re not. Those are most people’s situations moving throughout the city. Tons of moving companies in my city talk about moving out of towers. Are you even in the industry to even say that these are the outliers? My brother has had this company for 5 yrs. The data is clear. Plus he has relationships with most of the storage facilities in our city and he gets lots of business from property managers and realtors, and they give a lot of information on people’s situations. I know there are lots of people that move their stuff into storage that are struggling, but it’s only most of the time because they are waiting to transition into their new place. The original commenter is making it seem like most people are hoarders and that’s not the case a lot of the time.
Some people have things other than junk in storage
My friend lived in a storage unit for 3 years and as long as he got that payment in one time and was in before closing time they didn't care. He said it was the the best time of his life as he had nothing to lose.
if the government is charging a fee for taking its own money, that should be illegal
You just have to know the rules & usually a checking account linked by routing / account numbers will have no fees.
That is not the point. You shouldn't need any account at all if you don't want one. Cash should always be available and mandatory to accept otherwise you open up the opportunity for a tyrannical government (like the Biden Admin) to start spying on what you are buying and if it is against their agenda, you get a penalty strike.
It's easier to find out the legal things government does rather than illegal. Governments don't even care about keeping up a pretense that they are honest.

Credit cards charge exorbitant transaction fees to the merchants, who add that fee to the prices we pay on each item, then the CC companies also charge us fees and interest on the CC used to pay for that item. In California, there is no statewide law that mandates businesses to accept cash for transactions. However, certain cities, like San Francisco, have implemented local ordinances that require businesses to accept cash. This law aims to prevent discrimination against individuals who do not have access to bank accounts or credit cards, ensuring they can participate in the economy

Whenever they talk about converting business towers into apartments they mention that it is a very expensive task for many reasons but if theses cubicles were just little rooms that could be used as bedrooms and people would share commons areas like a kitchen and bathrooms, just add some showers and it would be livable. I thought it was a fluke until it happened two years in a row, and so I’ve been sticking to investing via an analyst.
This sound interesting. I’m not really one to use pro analysts, but I guess it would not hurt to try one. My portfolio is in the red waters right now
Carol Vivian Constable is the licensed fiduciary I use. Just research the name. You’d find necessary details to work with a correspondence to set up an appointment..
She appears to be well-educated and well-read. I ran a Google search for her name and came across her website; thank you for sharing.
The thing about storage units is they are getting more and more expensive. Ours has gone from $300 to $600/mo. in 6 years.
😮😢
$600/ month. That's $7200. What is the stuff worth in the unit?
@@TheSuperdodgy a lot is documents we keep for the business purposes. But yep, is getting expensive. We have some legal retention requirements, but we need to definitely go through them and shred a significant amount.
@@JBoy340a Can't you digitize the documents (scan and store on a drive and drive backup)?
@@JBoy340a We invested in digitally archiving all our documentation. Legally there is no requirement to have hard copies. $3 a month for AWS storage.
I call the "dump" my storage shed.
So a kiosk that turns cash into a debit card sounds like a terrible idea that invites money laundering
Thanks a million for putting this videos together
My storage unit doubled last month. Letting it go. Only had it to store old business records for tax purposes.
Thank u. Keep bringing us these economic indicators signaling the the storm during this calm.
The hyperbolic public debt coincides with the growth of credit cards and home equity loans. Prior to the mid-1970's few people had a credit card much less a HELOC. Most people saved money and paid cash.
Savannah, Georgia is a nice place. If you head to Tybee Island which is very close to Savannah there’s a restaurant attached to a gas station called “Sunday” I believe and it’s delicious I still remember how good the food was after all these years.
Have fun, Be safe!
One of the most beautiful cities in the USA.🇺🇸
🌸St. Augustine
☀️Florida
People have their priorities mixed up .... Lines at fast food drive thru restaurants are a mile long .. Seems like they have the money to pay $20.00 for a hamburger fries and a watered down soda.
Fake meat and diabetes!
The sodas sure do taste watered down... No bubbles or fizz. They dont change carbonination. Soda is so flat.
Bread and circuses ring a bell? People are barely hanging on. Most may not know what is wrong, most know something is wrong.
Ronald McDonald has to eat too.
I enjoy this channel but most of this is bullshit. Spending continues unabated. There are lines wrapped around Cookout and Chick-Fil-A 24/7. Everyone I know is going on a European vacation shortly. They aren't broke.
If you have so much stuff that you have to rent storage space you have too much stuff. I had a storage space and took stuff to the city dump twice before it clicked. 😂
The Law STATES that every business must accept Legal Tender aka USA currency therefore, bring Exact change and they must accept it for All Goods at Any establishment. Fck those so called Cashless places. Leave $$$ on counter, take your hotdog and walk off. No issues
Thank you to our host and thank you for thinking of your viewers in producing and editing this presentation. We alway learn a lot.
Michael I went to drop-off my son at the airport MIA and I notice that left my wallet at home but I had Cash ..... It took one hour to resolve the problem because now the Miami Airport do not accept cash and the machines do not take Apple Pay ....... unbelievable .....
I just went to a Pittsburgh Pirates game yesterday and they are also cashless and have reverse atms throughout the stadium…It’s insane that businesses are choosing to stop accepting cash
How about this: "We only accept debit cards, no cash." Okay, see ya!
You will have to take your nickels & pennies elsewhere.
Come to NJ u would never know economy is in the pooper. Restaurants packed, Boardwalks packed. Building going crazy and actually being sold. Food and other necessities inflated. But all the New Yorkers and Phili rich always come to Jersey. That’s why I am leaving. Congestion, crime, woke movement and poor quality of life. That said I’ll keep one property here to use as residents as Healthcare stellar….
I just love the variety on this Channel!
Keep going Michael youre doing a great Job!
He says the same thing every day.
Clark County and Las Vegas just reported that their homeless population hasn't been this large in over 10 years. But the economy is doing just fantastic. 😂
The bar has been lowered
My 9x12 unit in Southern California went from 145/month to 345/month in 6 years.
That's ridiculous. I left Southern California in 2017. Glad I took my storage when I left. I couldn't afford to pay for things in 2024, I probably wouldn't remember anyway. Lol
I just shipped my belongings afer paid 27 months in Los Angeles , rented a Ubox from uhaul for shipping from Los Angeles to Florida. A 5x10 space was initially $155/mo, then went up 4 times to almost $300/mo. Glad I ended up on June 1st. I was shocked to see Los Angeles after 2 years, really expensive and going down..
Safe travels Michael. Looking forward to your videos on your travels.
Honestly the locker storage units are literally a gold mine you'd be surprised what you'd find buying a unit at a sale. Most times it can be a dud; however sometimes you strike gold
Indeed. I lost autographed baseball memorabilia, vintage ceramics from South Korea and a book collection, to include some first editions. Antique stuffed rocker and local craftsman’s book case.
Thank you! I used to watch storage wars all the time back in the day. It was so fascinating. All the things they would or wouldn’t find.
I liked this one even more than yesterday's video. The chart about rising national debt since 1980 is scary!
I got poverty and despair for 40 years of hard labor! But I was a genuine tough guy not a parasitic financial scammer or bully!😂
In the end, we all have to live with ourselves. Be proud you did it right!
I guess you weren't paying attention. Heavy drinker?
I’m 54 and I remember my grandfather retiring at 52 with a paid off house , plenty of money in the bank, and a nice pension and took a paid 3 week vacation every year while he was working After WWII he went to work for Proctor & Gamble loading train cars and did it till the day he retired. Blue collar worker his whole life.
Dude, the massive expansion of consumer credit is part of the reason everything has to be financed in the first place. It's a sick, sick game that is coming to a close.
A lot of people who have been forced to go homeless put their stuff in storage. Some sleep in it.
Florida man back at it again telling us folks about the new phenomenon reverse cash ATMs!!
I only had my storage unit for 2 years. I just got a notice that it was increasing to $220 for a 5 x 10. I was told in order to keep my rates low, I need to call them every time I get the increase notice. I managed to keep it at $165 but I need to see wtf I have. It’s ridiculous but I feel bad for those paying more.
I had mine for a little under a year and a half. Figured I could put what I was spending on storage to better use and had the stuff brought to my apartment. Slowly thinning it out so the next time I move, there are fewer boxes with things I still need.
I am one of the few in my cul-de-sac that parks my car in the garage. Everyone else's garage is full . It's funny cuz my friend said to me hey you park your car in the garage and I said yeah! Isn't that where it's supposed to go?
It’s proven that when you forced to pay via credit or debit card you spend more. They also force you to tip higher because the lowest tip button is 15% to go lower you have to enter it manually and that takes like 20 seconds and that angers the concession person.
Just don't tip. The tipping culture in the US is obscene.
or just select "no tip"
