I had some stereotypes when I started the video and realised the dentist is from UK, but after I finished the video though... man this is probably one the best guide I've ever seen. Espessialy in this moment with 45 angle. You are the one who showed how to do it and why this is important. Thanks a lot
Absolutely the best video I have watched on dental care . Thank you for sharing all the info with us . I look forward to watching more videos from you .
Thank you so much Jon! So many useful information packed in this video. This video is hands down the best out there on UA-cam. I don't get it that you don't have much views. I guess people are impatient nowadays.
I find using a Waterpik right after eating is the best thing. It cleans out your mouth so well, neutralizes PH, but won't affect your enamel like brushing.
I wasted so much time trying to find instructions waching easy and fast guides with clickbates and all that stuff, but I didn't understand them. Better to wach one your 15 minute video and understand everything.
By far the best video i've found on this topic.Jon, can you make a video explaining true facts and uses about tooth whitening products? whitening mouthwashes to be more specific.
you can get disclosing tabs on amazon or walmart ...used them since i was a child....over 50 years! you can see the "bad stuff" on your teeth and it disappears the more you brush and remove it...
+Mike Rivera Hi Mike, I deliberately left out flossing because the good quality dental research can not find significant measurable improvements to oral health though flossing i.e. take 1000 people, get 500 to floss and 500 to not floss - there will be no difference between the two groups in oral health. This does not mean that flossing is not a good thing, I am convinced it is, particularly for the gums. It is just not as good for us as you might think. I have kept all the tips in this video to be ones that scientific evidence has shown to be beneficial
If your teeth have a tendency of getting food stuck, you better floss or you'll end up like me with fillings at every touching surface. I got them when I was a teenager and now in my 30's they are going bad one by one.
I don't like the chalky toothpaste feel in my mouth after brushing so I rinse out with a little mouthwash. I know you say there's no additional fluoride benefit but I'm not using water and no longer have the chalky feel. Win-win
Good video! I brushed my teeth for 10 minutes . Is this harmful? Now I brush very gently, don't press too much and small movements. Thank you for your video!!
Interdental cleaning will add another level of protection against dental problems yes. The information in this video is the most important, however interdental cleaning adds additional benefit, particularly if you are a person that is of higher risk of gum disease. I am currently scripting and interdental cleaning video :)
Thank you so much! I find your video very useful. How about the dangers of fluoride , mouthwash causes cancer (myth?) and also are homemade toothpaste effective? @@joncowie4893

i don't know if you are active on your channel sir, but i am 20 year old and i am from iraq and i barely washed my teeth over the course of my life. i still wash my teeth 1 or 2 times in a week. i have even lost 2 and a half tooth. but now i decided to change and start brushing. sometimes i feel like if a doctor watch or examines my teeth, he/she will probably quit their job because of what they will see. i still hope that it is not too late.
I also don't know what the chemical existing in tea and coffee etc is that stains your teeth, but I assume anything that is coloured will eventually stain
katie nye Brusing 3 times per day is good, it will be better than twice per day however good brushing twice per day should be ‘enough’ to prevent problems
Dr Jon. I'm really confused on what type of manual brush we should be using. You say we can use soft or medium but today there are so many types out there like ultra soft, super soft, soft, soft medium, medium soft, medium that it's really confusing what to use. Can you cut through this information and tell us what is the best brush of these to use that will clean teeth yet not cause gum damage?. Will they all do the job so it doesn't really matter which one you choose?. Can medium brushes like oral B manuals cause gum damage and are they too hard? Thanks.
hi sir ! are u practicing dentist ?if a person has excruciating pain due to cavity and goes to clinic is there any instant solution to relief the pain and send the person happy and laughing instead of just prescribing pain kilers and sending the patient with pain and tears ?question is there any solution for instant relief or there is not in modern dentistry ?on 12.11.2021 during night i was eating chapati a tooth pain started all of a sudden pain with tears in my eyes .then friend told me use cloves .i chewed and spat cloves .it was fine little but todays is 16.11.2021 and pain is there and cant chew with that side and it is swollen though a day before it was little fine .can a dentist have instant solution?i hope my point is understood thanks.
Usually I've had white teeth and had compliments but recently while taking selfies I've noticed a bit of yellowness creeping in, so I've switched from a manual toothbrush to a oral b 650 electric toothbrush but having checked the back of my toothpaste i recently purchased where you mention 1450 mmp of fluoride but the I've been recently using is only 450. What advice would you give?
Het Jon, I just had one question... One of my two front teeth is actually growing longer than the other, and i have already had braces... What could be the cause of this? and how what should i do?
Bad breath and Acid Reflux almost destroyed my life, l was so depressed to a point that i don't want to live anymore. After countless of trials I was able to get total rid of it bye Dr ohanon🥰
I recommend anyone watch 5 different videos on youtube of dentist's or ppl claiming to be dentist's telling/showing proper brushing techniques and youll get 5 different techniques and they all say each others techniques are improper. What the fuck.
Good instructions for brushing! However good you are at brushing you can never do it 100%, there will always be areas with plaque with milliions of bacteria attacking the enamel and your gum tissue. The enamel plus dentin is only about a few mm thick and the CARIES attack will reach the pulp in a few months. Likewise, plaque sitting in the area between the gumtissue and the tooth is also full of bacteria which will transfer into the gum which will inflame and bleed called GINGIVITIS. Bacteria will start moving in between the tooth and the gum towards the root of the tooth -pockets - causing PERIODONTITIS which results in total tooth loss. The ONLY way to stop tooth decease is regular visits to a dental HYGIENIST and get a thorough professional cleaning. If you do it every second month - 6 times per year - you will have a very good dental health. It will cost you around 500 dollars per year which is nothing compared with the astronomical costs of root canals, crowns and implants. Dentists and nurses have their teeth cleaned once a month and even once every 20th day. The BACTERIA are living creatures and WILL NOT GIVE UP UNTIL YOUR TEETH ARE ALL DESTROYED AND GONE. Unfortunately, dentists are not always interested in people's healthy teeth . Good teeth health does not create demand for profitable dental care. Remember, ONE tooth implant can cost 4000 to 5000 US dollars. Bad teeth health costs about 150 Billions per year in the US and occupies many hundreds of thousand of dentists and nurses.
It helps strengthen enamel. There is a condition called fluorosis which could discolor or even compromise the enamel, in extreme cases, of developing adult teeth in children. This occurs from too much fluoride, especially ingesting it (eg. fluoridated water, some juices apparently, swallowing toothpaste, and other sources); once the adult teeth have come through then fluorosis isn't an issue

Does green tea stain your teeth? I once heard it didn't but i wouldn't know why

If you don't rinse after brushing, you keep all the crud you loosened from your teeth and tongue in your mouth! How can that be good for your teeth?
how much crud do you actually have lol you're just rinsing out the toothpaste

Don’t use a manual brush. It’s been proven repeatedly that an electric brush is far superior in every way
