Loved DJ and the Kerry Blues as well, had many great nights dancing to their music all over Ireland. The showband were fantastic entertainers and show people.
I HAD THE GREAT PRIVILEDGE OF KNOWING BRENDAN SINCE THE 60S HE WAS A FANTASTIC SINGER MUSICIAN ENTERTAINER AND A TRUE MODEST IRISH GENTLEMAN BRENDAN OCTOBER 12TH 1938 TO MAY 28TH 2020 R I P AMEN ❤
Brendan was wonderfully warm and slightly shy gentleman. Had great time for his friends in Tralee and of course had a very long relationship with our DJ Curtin as a key addition to The Big Eight.
R.I.P. Brendan... Remember as a child Brendan & The Royal visiting our local town. The tickets went on sale at midday and were gone in an hour. The crowds were so large they had to sell the tickets this way. In later years I remember attending a studio recording in Henry Street. Dublin of one of his hits...
When the Royal Showband toured England in the early 1960's, their support group was four guys from Liverpool named..........John, Paul, George and Ringo.
Correct....and a further item of interest Gay Byrne when he worked on T.V. in England was asked by Paul McCarthy to manage the Beatles before Brian Epstein but he declined .
Brendan Extremely Shy,I remember speaking to him before performing in the Rosnaree in Drogheda before going on Stage and when he went on stage a completely different person. The Undisputed King of the Showband Era.
