      @@Nickel_The_Wise From Wikipedia:
      A doof or bush doof is a type of outdoor dance party generally held in a remote country area, or outside a large city in surrounding bush or rainforest. Originating in the post-punk electronic music scene of Melbourne, Australia in the early 1990s, events referred to as doofs are now held worldwide and have built from a small set of social groups to a subculture with millions of active members worldwide, considered by some as a full blown culture similar to raves or teknivals. Doofs generally have healing workshops, speakers, art, live artists and DJs playing a range of electronic music, commonly goa, house, dub techno, Techno, acid heavy sounds and psychedelic trance.
      I didn't know that doof was from Australia. Now it makes more sense to call that absolute beast of a vehicle "Doof Wagon" cause Mad Max is Australian too.

The wives put themselves in danger, they help and they are actually a part of the movie. Easily they could put them just a damzel in distress but they do belong in the movie. The same goes for certain characters.
    My favorite part is when all of them are helping each other, furiosa and Max just shooting and wives reloading the weapons.

    They did everything to make sure he had a good life, no matter what.
    Because of that he never knew fear or sorrow even when they died.
    Because of that he was noticed as he climbed the platform that used to lower and raise items and people to the fortress and when the guard found him and lifted him up to toss over the side.
    He laughed, his fearlessness stunned the guard and won him a place as a war boy.

    25:44 it does work like that in real life, the air intake mixes air and fuel before it combusts in the engine block. By spitting fuel into the intake the mixture is richer causing more combustion in the engine. Nitros oxide or No2 is a similar concept but in-sted of using more fuel it makes the air in the mixture more explosive.

      No. A properly tuned engine will be supplied the correct amount of fuel to match the available oxygen. If a random spray of fuel increases power, the engine is in a bad state of tune. That additional fuel should be supplied by the system so it is available with a push of the throttle, not by someone clinging to the hood.

  • @Bawookles
    @Bawookles 3 роки тому +18

    George Miller had a great explanation for the continuity differences in his Mad Max films. He said that Mad Max is a mythological hero that people in the Wasteland tell stories of, a man who appears out of nowhere to help, and then disappears back into nowhere. Thus, the stories of him don't follow any continuity or "match up" in any way. In one story he had a wife and infant son, in another story he had a wife and young daughter. His interceptor gets destroyed over and over, etc.

    They actually did a comic book which tied the continuity of all the movies together, so Fury Road is actually in the same continuity as the earlier films. I grew up on Mel Gibson as this character, and wasn't sure I could handle Hardy in the role, but there is so much jaw-dropping, vehicular mayhem, and Max is so primal in nature, transforming from animal to man, that you barely care. Surprisingly, George Miller followed up these films with Lorenzo's Oil, The Witches of Eastwick, Happy Feet, and Babe, but when he puts the pedal to the metal, he is an action GOD.
    Too bad WB gave him so many legal nightmares that he isn't likely going back to this character, but I can't wait for the prequel film FURIOSA in June 2023 (he'll be 78 when that comes out, but there IS a script for another Max film called Mad Max: The Wasteland, which, along with Furiosa, was written at the same time as Fury Road).
    Ana Taylor-Joy was GREAT in The Witch, and I'm thinking she'll be sensational as a young Furiosa. Makes me wonder if Immortan Joe will be coming back as well? Either way, its sure to be spectacular. Awesome reaction/ review - thanks!

    So the ghost girl that Max keeps seeing throughout the movie isn't actually his daughter, but a character named Glory the Child that he saved from a Buzzard camp in a "prequel" comic. I use the word prequel very lightly since no one story is as canonical than any other, they're more like legends told by wastelanders. But like Max's wife and child, Glory and her mother were killed by Immortan Joe's people and Max is haunted by their deaths.

    This movie is one of the best action movies of the last few years. From the cinematography, the design of the cars, the characters, the plot, little fat and lots of well made action.
    They should make a sequel, it's screaming for one. Again if George Miller is the one calling the shots, of course. The guy knows his stuff when it comes to action.
    If you didn't watch the documentaries about the movie (you can find them in UA-cam) you should, they explain a lot about it, the VFX shots, what was practical, what was CGI. The episode about the cars blew my mind, they are all real working cars. It's very impressive.

    I remember when this came out, many people were theorizing that this Max is in fact the kid he saved in Road Worrior. That's why he isn't speaking much. He just took up the mantle of the man who saved him.

    I liked that with this movie they treated Max as a legend that has many different stories attached to it. It doesn't have to be one movie following up on the previous movie. It could be Max Fury Road this time, Max doing something entirely different next time.

    Just a little correction, this movie was shot in 2010. They could for the longest time not find a distributor, and the post-production took ages, that's why it only came out in 2015.

    This is not a reboot, it is a sequel to Thunderdome. There is a series of comic books and a video game that take place shortly before this movie and it fills in some gaps between Thunderdome and this movie. Because Tom Hardy is younger than Mel Gibson most people get confused about the time line but this is basically the same story as when Mel was connected to the film. This is the same Max Rockatansky we've been following all along.

    • @ClaytonMacleod
      @ClaytonMacleod 3 роки тому

      Yeah, some people referred to it as a reboot but it is simply a direct sequel to Thunderdome. Some guy on UA-cam did an excellent video about the timeline. You can do the math and see that the tattoo on Max’s back doesn’t work for someone as young as Hardy. It was supposed to be Mel at the age he was when this was originally supposed to get made. Searching for Mad Max timeline should get you to that video (or two? I forget.) pretty easily.

    • @karlmortoniv2951

      That was the plan originally. After a very interesting period directing stuff that was worlds away from the "Mad Max" series George Miller lost years not making his "Justice League" movie, then he and Mel were going to do a version of this in Namibia but 9/11 happened and there were security concerns so it was delayed. Then after waiting years for the stars to align and for Miller to take a break from "Happy Feet" movies, Mel got on with his own shit and became less interested in being in another "Mad Max" movie, which I totally get. He's no spring chicken, ya know.

    You both mentioned Max not saying much and when he does, it is rough. If you take a look at the Mad Max fan lore pages, you will learn that since the apocalypse when Max went off on his own, he spent many years alone not needing to talk. This may result in the diminishing ability to speak. Of course this is speculation from the lore pages.

    • @karlmortoniv2951
      @karlmortoniv2951 3 роки тому

      Yes, it is indeed! "The Cars That Ate Paris" is nothing like a "Mad Max" movie though so if you look for it expecting that you will be disappointed. It's worth a look, but Peter Weir is a different animal to George Miller.

    Are hand-made cars, made from several part and pieces from other ruined machines. Not a series car with programmed deformation, solid chasis or continuous parts. In hand-made car (and in fully customs car like this), the destruction is more chaotic than a modern series car, made to absorb and disipate the energy of an impact.

    Charlie cheats death by stealing a gold pocket watch representing his life and winding it back. As Charlie descends back to Earth, the whippet angel tells him that he can never return to Heaven; when the watch stops again, he will be sent to Hell instead. However, as long as the watch continues to run, Charlie will be immortal.

    Just think, if not for a writers strike and the Australian film board cancelling some of the funding, George Miller would have filmed 'Justice League Mortal' instead of Mad Max. Instead he went ahead and finished the Mad Max script and shot that instead. Hugh Keays Byrne was cast as Martian Manhunter and the other female warrior biker was Wonder Woman. George Miller gave them parts in Fury Road as consolation.
